Apology and Offer

Two hours past sunset, a letter arrives by courier for Twist .

Duchess Judex Twist,

I write to apologize but not to make an appeal.

This letter is primarily an offer to arrange a meeting with the Lady Notary to swear a blood oath that I shall not act against the Invictus of Sacramento with any information I have garnered from the covenant meetings.

I do not presume myself anything close to a threat; however, it does not escape me that my failure to sign is reasonably interpretable as a precursor to a coming betrayal. The idea that I may have, in my artlessness, misled others into that belief pains me deeply.

It is evident in hindsight that my tenure within the First Estate could be nothing but brief. There were many sensible ways to exclude me; that you opted for a method of mercy is not something I will forget.

Twist's fingers traced the edges of the letter. She had read it enough times now that as her eyes scanned through again, she didn't have to focus on each word, bringing them into understanding. Not that Edward Heinrich had made it overly difficult... thankfully.

Even so, she still wasn't sure what she felt.

Surprise yes. But not all entirely unpleasant at that. Edward was remaining in the city. He knew he wasn't a threat but wanted to insure. And he recognized what she had done. Oh yes. Much surprise. Of so many flavors.

Laying the paper down she glanced up to where Kalos stood patiently waiting. "It seems I have a get together to plan." There was a note of excitement in her voice at the statement at the prospect.

She would need to inform Jennifer Hazelton of course. And then let Edward himself know.
