Olivette calls Konstantin to deliver a large box, which weighs nearly twenty pounds. It has ribbon, but no bow; that's a bit girly for a Savage.
What Did Konstantin Get?
Konstantin takes out the jacket, smiling widely. He puts it on, not at all surprised to find it fits perfectly.
He asks Olivette to wait a few moments, then brings her a wooden box. He opens it; inside are three pieces of his woodwork, which had been displayed at the recent Court. He'd noticed Ishani admiring them at Court and had planned to give them as a gift to her, the Prince and Priscus Twist, waiting only until he had finished a third for the set.
Inside are three knives. The blades are identical: stainless steel, with a single cutting edge and a serrated back edge, like a hunting knife. The only difference is the handles.
Each handle is made of finely-carved wood. Two were on display at Court: a semi-coiled serpent, its head postitioned to act as a pommel, and a leopard, crouched as if to pounce. The final one is newly-finished: a wolf, legs extended forward and back, as if caught in mid-bound.
"Please give the Prince my thanks for his wonderful gift, and give him these, for himself, Harpy Ishani and Priscus Twist."
Asa opened the box, pleasantly surprised that Konstantin had noticed and remembered the interest in the knives. He knew that Ishani and Twist would be delighted.
He picked up each, feeling the contours of the carvings in his hand, hefting them for balance. Asa enjoyed distinctness, and also the fact that they were a set.
And who gets which?
The correlations in his mind were made nearly instantly, and he wondered if the Savage Priscus had the same intentions, or if they were just random selections.
The protective instinct, keen senses, disdain for subterfuge, non-aggressive confidence, and bold power of the wolf matched those qualities of Ishani.
The languid sensuality, liquid curves, lightning-fast deadliness, and prideful insouciance of the leopard all were hallmarks of Twist.
Which left him...
...the snake.
Not entirely sure what to make of that, he sent Olivette to deliver the Millar ladies their Savage gifts.
