There was a small shrug at the Italian, having no clue what the elf was saying. “Whoa!” eyes wide, “Really?! Tree trunk size tentacles?! Wow! You have not led a dull life! So much actions and adventure!” truly enamored by the tale.

“Well, paint job gone or not, how much to we have to worry about this? If it’s rusting the outside, what’s it doing to the engine?” a bit of worry in her voice. If the truck died, it meant walking back, or finding a different Gate.

“Wait, pirates?” a smile appearing, “Now the Hedge has pirates?! Not that I would be surprised, anything and everything is possible in here. But good call on checking the engine.” Nodding. “Is there a way to build a truck to survive the Hedge? Maybe a special metal or something?” she asks, with no obvious objection to the turn off. But she does grip the gun a bit tighter, because it meant coming to a stop. And who know what or who would show up. Sapphires looking around for anything that would attack.

They come to the turn off, rounding the cart-wide corner, and kicking up more mud. The Queens can ear something from the truck squeak, rubbing against itself. The squeaking continues and has a vague pattern of a villager from Animal Crossing.


From her position in the pasangerseat, Sera sees something that isn't mud splatter, in fact...the something moves!

"Nope," she agrees that her life was crazy. "Flesh trader, slaver, raider, privateer, pirate. Whatever ya want ta call 'em," she clarifies, "Bad guys." So many places had different words for the same thing. "Aaaand judging by those noises, Hedge is doing bad things ta the engine."

"Well," she leans forward ears bent ahead, "That is a new sound fer an engine. New is bad."

Circe stops the truck, "Keep yer wits about ya," the noises stop from the engine. Not from the Wyrd but from Circe turning the key off. She wasn't going to mess with a dying engine active engine whilst the Hedge was destroying it. She pulls the hood lever to unlock it.

Circe isn't reckless though. The high beams are turned on, partially for illumination and partly to guarantee anything trying to strike her back will have a vision problem. Circe also pulls the coat tight to her and draws her pistol. "I'm gonna give it a look but I don't think it is gonna last much longer. Shout out if ya see something. Or if ya don't like its face then shoot it."

The squeak was concerning. It wasn’t right.

But then seeing something move, eyes huge,

“Circe did you hear that?! Stop the truck!” panic in her voice. They might be in the Hedge with numerous things that want to kill them, but the Nix has a heart. And if something was hurt, because of them, she wanted to try and help it. Because of course she did.

Yeah, new is bad and new could be some innocent creature!

When the truck stops, she practically throws the door open, shotgun still in her hand moving to what she saw move. But she isn’t stupid, and moves carefully, vaguely hearing Circe.

The truck come to a stop, and the squeaking stops as well.

What Sera saw, is definitely behind them now, with how fast the truck was moving, even stopped whatever it was will take sometime to catch up if it only had a mundane moving speed, and couldn't keep up with, or outpace a truck...

"And I got Dawn's Beauty so if it's just rust I can push it back," she reassures Seraphina as she exits the car. Circe stands up on the cab floor as she sweeps the area around her with the gun before she gets out of the truck, not playing it risky in the Thorns.

Sera sees the shadow! Bounding passed the brambles, and gaining on them!


Circe takes a gander at the engine. Well, she finds something, it's not rust. Though with that fur colour it might be called Rusty. A small, big eared, big eyed animal-hob. It squeaks at her, showing of disproportionately large, and very sharp teeth fangs.

[Seraphina]

An absent nod, “I have that as well, so seems we’re covered there.” Eyes still looking, shotgun gripped tightly in her hand.

But when she see’s the shadow, bounding, and gaining ground, she calls over her shoulder, “Uhhh…Circe? We have incoming. Not sure what it is, but it’s getting closer.” And she moves to get in the truck bed. Higher ground, better vantage point. Or safer spot, both were options when you didn’t know what was coming.

The unknown, and being a bit scared, had her scales standing on end, the razor sharp edges gleaming in the light. To those who didn't know, it was new. To her, it was Mein, new way to protect herself.

[Circe]

"Okay, I'll uuuuh," well this was unexpected. Circe's first reaction? Pull out the candy bar, rip off the wrapper with her teeth, and say "Ah ah," to the creature. If it opens its mouth she tosses it the candy bar. If not? She leaves it on the hood.

Then she quickly moves to join Seraphina in the trunk, "So the engine has fur, eyes, and fangs," she hoists herself up into the trunk, "Pretty small, like 80s horror mini monsters small. I gave it my candy bar." Because Circe who refers to almost every Changeling she has met as cute or sexy would of course find 80s style mini horror monsters cute.

She points her gun around, "So where bad thing coming from?"

Should Circe have rolled Animal Ken to keep it friendly or was it already friendly?
