Two of the ractains surrounding Trench flee, as do one each around Jack and Oshi, as Animus' spell takes hold, subsuming rational thought in primal fear.

Jack takes 2B; Trench takes 4B; Oshi takes 2L6B.
Trench, Oshi, and those with Held Actions are UP.
Oshi must make a STA check to stay conscious.
Jack, Trench, and Oshi are surrounded and cannot advance to the vehicle without two (2) STR+(Brawl or Athletics)-5 rolls. Both must succeed to push through and Move.

Trench winched. He wasn't gonna let these freaking creatures get him. Oh no. Focusing, he forced his way past, slipping through the crowd of abyss-tainted creatures and started running like all hell to the car.

Okay, so there are 12 ractains (minus 4 that fled) and 3 fleshies surrounding the group that is not near the vehicle, right?
And how many are actually near the vehicle?

Also, I'm writing Oshi out of the Scene, his player isn't posting at all.

Tam is UP with her HELD Action, then all the 17 Inits can begin round 2.

Some of the Mages see Oshi fall in the crush of bodies surrounding him, and catch glimpses of a decapitated head on the ground soon after. Trench manages to fight his way through several of his assailants, but can't break free.

Tam is unable to hold back and moves in on the group around Trench. Hoping to catch a Ractain off guard, she slashes out, cutting deep and probably getting the thing's attention.

Animus winces as Oshi goes down, but the living are the more pressing concern. Jack and Trench still weren't getting through the abyssal mob. Then suddenly it hits him: they don't have to. He once again calls to his watchtower, but this time he focuses on Jack and Trench. In his mind, he pictures the hawk, superimposing it on the two mages' patterns. But pain shoots through him as the Abyss rips his spell away, dashing it to pieces.

Everyone constantly in motion; Jordan was finding it hard to concentrate. He saw Tam go after one of Trench's attackers. He went for one of Jack's attackers, slashing in flank.

Ractains snarl and cry out in pain as the mages assault them from behind. The one attacked by Tam staggers and almost falls, and others -- which were heading into the building -- turn their attention back to the melee between the building and car. Dull metallic noises are heard as some begin to ascend the fire escape ladder.

[Donan]

Beverely backs away as she sees what's happened to Oshi, her confidence falling away in an instant. She yanks open the door of the car, moving inside and shivering, her face pale with fright.

[Ankh]

Ankh starts the car and yells out the window. "Get in the damn car!"
