An excerpt from the Sacramento Bee's Business section:

    MaxMart Becomes City's Largest Employer

"In just a few short months of moving it's corporate headquarters to Sacramento, the national retail conglomerate MaxMart Incorporated has become Sacramento's largest employer. After a series of strategic business partnerships, and more than a few hostile take overs, MaxMart has grown to employ over thirty thousand of Sacramento's citizens, and in less than six months, the city's unemployment rate has dropped by over three percent. If that was astounding enough, the press coming out MaxMart Inc. indicates that this is just the beginning of the company's plans to continue to make Sacramento its home..."

An excerpt from the Sacramento Bee's Entertainment section:

MaxMart Invites Sacramento it's 9th Birthday

"In February, MaxMart Incorporated, Sacramento's largest employer, is throwing a massive party, and invites Sacramento to join them. A new fair grounds is being constructed, and MaxMart's Chief Operations Officer, Monique Barsani, claims that the corporation is moving Detroit's fabled Sherwood Amusement Park to Sacramento just for the occasion. And, if that weren't amazing enough, the corporation promises to donate all proceeds from ticket and food sales during the event to United Way..."

(Immediately recognizable to the Lost of Sacramento, the address of the new fair grounds is only a few hundred feet away from Edna's...)

An excerpt from the Sacramento Bee's Cultural section:

The Four Seasons Hotel Rises From the Ashes

"After a brief court ruling, MaxMart Incorporated purchased the remains of what used to be the Four Seasons Hotel, and has already released plans to not only rebuild the hotel, but to make it even more magnificent than before.

The CEO of MaxMart, Maximilian Fairweather, had this to say:

'When I first came to Sacramento, almost eight years ago, I remember staying in the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel. It was truly a magnificent building, and more than that, it was a magnificent part of the city. The gas main explosion that leveled the building was an unforgettable tragedy, but one that we can not only overcome, but one that we can use to build a brighter future. Not only will MaxMart rebuild the Four Seasons, we will recreate it, and make it a shining monument to Sacramento along the way...'"
