(1701) Sanctuary 4

[Campanella]

Campanella took a step back and raised his hands defensively - anything to block the venomous hiss from the Mastigos Councillor.

"Well? Is there something we can do about it? Or are you going to spend all your time in a petulant fit while the world unravels around us!"

He stopped himself, but not before he'd the words. He turned away, a pulse powering in his jaw.

[Tuesday]

Faye sets herself next to Tuesday and the once-Enchantress pats her arm and Tuesday gives the now-Shaman a smile.

Hazels flick to Avis because angry. And animated. But mostly freaking out. Calmer heads - Star and Strix and totally not Campy because growly - try to clam the Avis who is totally freaking out and worrying the Unicorn. "The Seer's already messed with Time. It's easy enough to believe that they've messed with this too." she rasps, nodding, "We're trying to stop them from being dee-bags, and messing with stuff, so. We just. Do that, with this, right?"

[Aurora]

Even if you had never experienced a paradox before, you know it when it happens. It was a shock, a slap in the face from the universe. She sat there, stunned at what had happened, at losing control over her spell. Though she is thankful it was a healing spell and not something that could hurt.

She kinda hears the raised voices, something about some people that were supposed to be taken care of in the past. Well, guess messing with timelines can come back to bite them in the ass. Ok, well, assuming that's what happened. She doesn't know.

She looks down at her hands, turning them over, debating the worth of being able to heal if a paradox isn't far behind it. This was new ground for her, something she knew about, but wasn't sure how to deal with.

[Avis]

Those words, those fucking words!

Petulant.

Fit.

Like she was some child! Like she was some selfish, unstable, idiot! How could he--How could?!

Avis, too, turned away, her face coloring as her rage boiled upwards. She took several paces away, focusing upon her breathing, and trying to forget how much she hated those words. She'd heard them so often growing up, those words, or words like them, and they still cut through her like razors parting skin. They were so dismissive, so reductive of what she was feeling, but she had to remind herself that no one else did know what she was feeling. They weren't supposed to, so how could she blame them? How could she rage at them and expect them to accept it when she wasn't even able to tell them the truth?

"You're right," she said, to no one in particular, as she walked back, her voice carefully kept soft and steady.

"You're right," she repeated, this time looking to Star, and then to Campanella.

"This is the chance to do something about it. And it's better than still being in the dark, still thinking that justice had already been done. But this wasn't local. This was down South, and I don't even know where to begin."

Feel that?

Like winter. Like a stillness and silence so absolute it's ringing in your ears. He paled at Campanella's words, and felt warmth slipping away and leaving the coldness only a few had seen. People like Omar. Sandberg's people. Yeah, just words. Words borne of arrogance and ignorance. But there are some people you'd do anything to protect.

If Bill Nye the Mystagogue Guy hadn't turned, he might have gotten a face full of fist. Or Fire.

The mop shook vigorously, once, at Avis. No, no, Campanella wasn't right.

"Bro, I know you're new? But Avis handles her business. So," a hand turned like a wheel, "Dial it down. You know, the being a bitch. Before you Square off more than you can Circle."

He sighed. And ran a hand through the mop. Looked around, then to Avis, then to the Clock.

"...Florida is down South."

[Strix]

Strix watched in silence the scene before him, looking between Avis and Campanella, and finally Star as well when they each spoke. He scratched at his chin thoughtfully, running his hand over his face a moment later.

"Where there any duels in this Consilium before?"

He couldn't help but ask out loud; shaking his head a moment later as if to remind himself that it probably didn't matter. Some mages were Duelo happy, whether justified or not.

"Never mind, it's not important," he waved a hand before anyone bothered to answer his question. He looked at Avis' back. "Well, I'd usually say at the beginning, but I'm not sure how much that would entail and how personal it might get so...wherever you feel it got important information to work with would be great?"

Then he looked over at Faye, moving over to his cabalmate and leaned down a little to look at the sitting Shaman. "Are you holding up well there?" He asked carefully, not really aware of what had happened.

[Tuesday]

Tuesday tried soft platitudes. Trying to cut off the bite of Campanella's words. Obviously if didn't work. Not with the way Avis' face reddened, and the soft, detached tone that followed. But it was Star's tone that had her pause.

She knew Avis ran hot. But to find out Star went cold. That's...good to know.

Swallowing. Because the Unicorn wasn't, wouldn't, would never enjoy infighting.

The Clock. Yeah the Clock.

Hazel fix on that and realize that it's already revving up for another jump.

"Florida?" she asks just to say something.

[Campanella]

Campanella's nostrils flared and he let out a long breath.


"I apologise. I spoke in haste. This... This is getting to us all. We can at least remain civil to each other."


He took another breath.


"So what now?"


He managed to turn back to the group.

[Aurora]

She was more than a little surprised that Avis seemed to back down and consider her words. But then Star and Campanella. There was a heavy sigh, while somethings changed, others didn't.

Strix's voice brought her back, "Huh?" taking a moment to process his words, "Oh, yeah. Just not used to the universe biting back against my spells. But it's all good, thanks." she offers a weak smile.

"So, uh, Florida? Haven't been down that way in what feels like forever!" here is her attempt to seem like she was paying attention and not lost in self pity.
