Robert Cross to Kenneth Gilroy

[Robert Cross]

Cross sits in the dark of his parked Town Car, staring at the screen of his just activated burner phone (the impatiently torn packaging sits shotgun in the seat next to him). He'd gotten his hands on the number for Kenneth Gilroy without too much trouble; it's not a hard thing to do when you know where to look, who to ask, and how to do so. The hard part is actually sending the message, starting over, coming to a whole new dance. Cross sighs without thinking about it, a bad habit. "Fuck it," he mutters, annoyed with himself, and sends the message:

"KG--New in town. Just got in from LA and hear you're the one to talk to. Can we meet? The name is Robert Cross."

With that sent Cross sits in the dark, focusing on not breathing.

Kenneth checked his phone went it went off. It took him a moment to figure out that KG was supposed to be him and not some new acronym the Kine were using these days. So who ever it was knew him. Gilroy didn't recognize the name or number though. It sounded like a new family arrival but the words were unclear enough that it could just as easily be a student. Best to see if he couldn't get some more clarification.

"Hello, Mr. Cross. If I may ask, what would this meeting be concerning?"

Cross is still sitting in the car when the phone buzzes. Truth be told, he hadn't been expecting such a quick response. All the better. His lips pull into a tight smile when he reads Gilroy's message. A cautious one; cautious is good. He types a quick reply:

"Family business, Mr. Gilroy. We're cousins from what I've heard. Would love to meet up and talk more about it."

Kenneth considered a for while before typing his response.

"Are you available to meet at [street intersection] at [date/time]?"

Two haunts meeting in public, others might laugh at the idea. Cross doesn't. Public is always for the best, after all. Exposure assures mutual safety. His message is short, to the point:

"Done. See you then."
