Joshua is heading into the kitchen for a glass of water (which he plans to transmute into orange juice--its cheaper than buying it and he still gets the nutrients) when he sees the note. He frowns; he's fairly sure that it wasn't there earlier. He opens up the envelope, reads the contents, and forgets all about his water.
What in the blue creeping Jesus happened?
Something's up, he can tell; it would have been sufficient to note Falx by his Shadow Name only. Putting his real name in there seemed to be overkill--a dick move, frankly. Joshua remembered the way John had looked at him, when the Moros had visited the Museum last time, and wondered. And all the titles at the end... sure, Dee was a member of the Ladder (which also surprised Joshua, who had thought him Mysterium simply because he could be found at the Museum--so much for assumptions), but this seemed almost to be a threat. Directed at the new Apostate's former colleague?
Joshua pulled out his phone and sent off a text while he carefully put the note back into its envelope for the Herald to read later.

Animus walks into the kitchen about an hour later and sees the note. The first surprise is that John Dee felt the need to drop another mage's true name. No one treats names lightly, and sharing one in such a manner seemed like a personal violation. What had happened? And hadn't Falx one of the Arrows? If Joshua wanted to talk about it, he would, and if not, Animus wasn't about to ask.

Upon reading the last two lines, Animus stopped dead. When had he become part of the Ladder, much less become a Lictor? How long ago had this happened? Was he just out of the loop, or was something else going on here? Regardless, he needed to get more involved with the Consilium. He didn't want to get blindsided with something like this again.
