Sand Cove Beach

Normally a quaint out of the way spot on the west side of Sacramento, at the bend in the Sacramento River and just before one gets to the Barrens. A nearly full moon sits in the sky, a little sliver cut out of the end, but plenty of light for those that know only night. Those that come will gather on the sand, bringing an urge to relax in the moonlight and swim in the dark streak of water that cuts through the flatlands.

For Konrad, it had just been an idea, a whim pursued. He comes in his red swimming trunks and an open red patterned Hawaiian shirt. His Ghoul arrives with him, sitting off to the edge at a picnic table as he rubs mosquito repellent on his still living body. The young blonde man seems both nervous and excited to have been invited to the event. Konrad's been clear with him about the dangers. All it takes is the bloodlust of a frenzying Vampire to end him, but Cody had showed only eagerness in attending.

A stack of beach towels sit on the table as well. A few folding beach chairs are strewn about. But most of the party's furnishings had been promised by Gerald Baker . Konrad awaits his arrival so he can help with set up. He expects other Kindred in the Domain to show up too in response to the flyer he had posted at Elysium.

Maybe ten minutes after his call to Konrad, the blue hull of the Sang de Bonner pokes out from behind a bend in the river. Gerald is below decks, steering from the helm within the boat’s cabin. Eyeing one of the higher banks near the trees on the near end of the beach, he throws the engine into reverse and slows his approach.

The Sea King moves the yacht into position after a few moments of drift and adjustment, finally creeping to a stop and dropping anchor. He wastes no time in in hauling out the line, safety netting and long wooden planks to set up a brow from the bank to his yacht. The entire ordeal takes him maybe another 15 minutes before he deems the brow safe to cross. Satisfied, he begins breaking out the chairs, tables, sound system and volleyball equipment. The shuffling and repositioning is a little harder than he would like, but he isn’t about waste Vitae to make the job a little easier. As it stands, he isn’t entirely sure he should bother invoking the Blush. It might make for a more pleasurable evening, but he cannot being to imagine the backlash of the Carthian Prefect being the one to fall to a hunger frenzy on the night of the Movement’s most symbolic holiday observance. Even if he lived through something like that, he’s quite certain he would never ‘live it down’.

Determined to give at least the appearance of a man ready for a beach party, Gerald had chosen khaki shorts, a thin blue silk button-down shirt and an expensive pair of Nordstrom sandals. Being well dressed might be redundant in the face of his already extravagant posturing - he'd brought the party boat, for Pete's sake - but Gerald wouldn't have it any other way.

Moving ahead regardless of the phone conversation's resolution for the purpose of timing. I figure the post will still work even if he get's Konrad's voicemail.

The first wave of anger hits him as the Beast recognizes another predator arriving. It sinks back below the tides of consciousness like an alligator floating just beneath the water's surface.

"Hey, Marco," replies Konrad jovially. "Yeah, happy Independence Day and such." At the inquiry, Konrad turns to regard Cody.

"Oh, this is Cody, my Ghoul. He'll be helping out or hanging out or whatever needs doing."

The Ghoul will bow respectfully towards Marco and then get up from the table to walk to Konrad.

"Your phone is ringing. I believe it's Mr. Baker," he says while handing over the small ringing device. Cody then promptly returns to the picnic table.

"Hold on, I'll see what our Prefect wants." He answers the call.

"Yo, Baker. What's up?" he asks in his easy going mannerism.

Konrad delays his action until after Cody, but will prepare to grapple the Ghoul if he attempts to attack either of them
