Initiative 6
The shot rings out like a thunder clap in the still of the night.
It's at once surprisingly loud in the silence, yet surprisingly hollow and distant in the open field. The report whispers away, lost in the thrushing sound of leaves and grass.
The impact spins it's target around with a cry of pain, moonlight catching on the scything stream of liquid like a rampant garden hose.
The other figure immediately drops and disappears.
Guard 2 - Konrad Roth - Alessandra - Guard 1
Guard 2 has Gone Prone as his Action and is no longer visible. Konrad and Alessandra are up.
Smart. They've still got their instincts, thinks Konrad, noting the disappearance of the second guard. Lacking any other targets, Konrad hurls his projectile towards the still visible one.
The distance makes the shot a difficult one, but it puts him at the least risk as the guards are still trying to get a sense of their attacker's location. Now, would they fight or flee remained the question.Thrown Weapon | Size 1(L) | Long Range(28y) | 1sux Before Def/Arm
"We've engaged," he mutters into the headset.
That wasn't her best shot, so she moves her finger to take another shot at the already injured drone. A small smile appeared on her lips as the gun fired, there was nothing like the sweet recoil of the gun in her hand.
Konrad's carefully aimed rock sails into the darkness, too small to track.
Again, the gun made popular by Harold Francis Callahan roars. Again, the standing figures spins from the force of the impact, but this time the spin ends in a lurching fall.
End Combat Turns!
Konrad grabs the box of caltrops off the ground and edges closer to where the sentry looked to have dropped to the ground in the tall grass. Had the guard scurried away? Whether he remains or retreated, the sound of the gunfire would be sure to attract Coturi and the rest of her hive.
"One went down. Lost sight of the other," he reports through the headset as he searches to confirm the location of the second sentry.
Well, if that didn't let the target know they were there, there was something seriously wrong with her.
Seeing her current target go down, and the other still out of view, she lowers the gun and her body. As she crouches, she also slowly moves closer.
The sudden crack of gunfire made the Daeva twitch. Forgot how loud those are. Alessandra was obviously a very good shot.
Hearing Konrad's report, he whispered into the headset, "Proceed with caution. Search and destroy." Drawing on zombie pop culture, "Make sure they stay down."
Hildegarde, squatting in (doubtful) hiding, continued to watch the shadow wreathed compound in silence. She might as well have been a doll dumped in the wilderness for all the movement she made.
Konrad and Alessandra move closer.
And closer.
Grass thrushes against their legs as they close the distance, but it's as if the field is empty save for them. Them, and the dark tents. No one springs out of the grass. No search lights suddenly blast to life to focus on them.
There's nothing. Nothing but a soft sound that resolves in soft, wet wheezes.
Alessandra's victim lies in the grass, curled into a fetal position. Nearby, flattened grass snakes back to the concrete maw of the bunker.
