A night time stroll

[Martha Villiers]

As the titles of books are mentioned Martha nods happily and giggles cheerily at Katya's dry humor. Nodding her approval for the others and showing genuine interest as everyone speaks and share information.

She was keen to let people chat for a bit. After all, that was the point of the ice-breaker.

"Spaceships!" she enthuses, clearly taken by Spencers' idea. "Ah, now spaceships are something I would enjoy reading about, sir. Music too... hmm. it sounds as if it might make for an interesting opera too, sir!" she nods again to Spencer. "like Odessyus or the Flying Dutchman! Questing through space and music..." she smiles. Clearly enjoying playing with Spencers' idea.

"It sounds very much like it would work in unity with Mr Baker's tale of a dashing sea-faring rascal!" she giggles. Wide eyed. Wide eyed as if she's imagining Gerald swinging from the tall masts of a sailing vessel, cutlass in hand to attack some unlucky merchant ship.

But she didn't want people to lose momentum either.

"A travel-guide is always a fine thing! So few of those around these days...those of quality, I mean..." she guesses. Looking to Fionn to see if her guess is correct. But Rina's blunt reply is a shock;

"Stabbing? Goodness!" she blinks to Rina. "I like the idea of knots having a catharsis!" she offers, wide eyed, to Katya. "Isn't there an elaborate martial art involving knots that is also a B-D-S-M technique too...?" Martha asks generally. Seemingly an innocent and genuine question.

Once numbers are exchanged, she tries to gauge whether people are keen to start.

Rina was surprised at the mention of Hojojitsu. She didn't often meet people who were aware of that art, seeing as how it was rather obscure, in that no one really practiced it. She hadn't found anywhere that taught it as part of its curriculum in a long while, and trying to find it alone was a bad idea. No one taught Hojojitsu alone. It just wasn't done.

Rina's eyes alighted on Martha again. "Well, shall we get moving?" All the talking and ice-breaking was starting to both her. They were here for a tour, after all. Not to stand around and make friendly. That wasn't something she'd particularly wanted, or expected, out of the evening.

Nodding in agreement, Martha smiles and, with her cane, gestures towards their first destination...

"Hojojitsu, eh?" Martha asks happily, nodding as if adding the name of the art to her mental to-do list.

She leads the gang along the main street and gestures to several tall buildings in the distance. Explaining who owns them in the mortal realm and a few facts and figures about height and date built.

"What we see over there, ladies and gentlemen, is the local Sacramento Convention Center. They erected the first building during the late 1920's. Renovated during the late 1990's it is now a very popular event center!" she chirps.

"It is one of the regional centers for performances of the ballet..." she adds with a wistful look in her eye.

As she hobbles along, sometimes she breaks into a limping skip, causing her twin tails to bob.

"Over there we see the impressive dome of the State Capitol Building. Rising 247 feet high. It was completed in 1874... that's our first stop!"

"Beyond it we can see the outline of the US Bank Tower. 404 feet high. Erected in 2006 and, well, as you see, there is a most fascinating light display at the top!" she chirps. Her cane guides towards the buildings and locations identified.



"Only the Wells Fargo Building, over at 400 Capitol Mall, is taller in Sacramento! But only by a few feet. The margin is a matter of mere yards."

She giggles...

[Gerald Baker]

From books to bondage? Gerald chuckles a little over the ordeal, shaking his head. This bunch seems perfectly capable of keeping him entertained - even without blood being shed.

The Convention Center Martha describes holds a particular interest for the Sea King. So many of the 'upper crust' of Kine society frequent places like that. Ballets, operas, or just some good old fashioned conventions draw in very interesting individuals. Interesting, wealthy, delectable individuals. Gerald has a longstanding weakness for those types. He eyes the building wistfully, longing for his favored prey.

The next building she points out is more of an aesthetically impressive landmark than a point of interest for Gerald. Still, he politely allows the little Shadow to continue without offering his two cents.

Rina's eyes turn to the buildings as Martha indicates them. She'd already noted them in her original examination of the area, so they were of only mild interest to her. A quick look at her watch, in the idle time while she waits to move on, however, reveals that she should really be somewhere else. She had completely lost track of time. The little Shadow turned to their tour guide. "My apologies, Miss Villiers. It appears I cannot remain with you here, and take this tour. I shall see you at some other time." The Shadow offers a slight bow of apology, then turns and heads off.

Rina exits!

The tour continues, and everyone goes their separate ways...
