Lynn giggled a bit at Morgan's antics, still slightly unable to believe that she was almost ready to complete what was a lifelong dream of her own. "It's called Fiddler Fair. It's a bunch of songs that I've written since I got here in Sacramento." She bit her lip and thought about just what songs were on that Cd, then decided not to mention it. Morgan would figure it out sooner or later. "I'm so excited." She drummed her fingers on the table. "And really nervous. Excited and nervous. It goes out in a couple of days." She couldn't restrain a small squeal and bounced in her chair a little bit. "It's so awesome!"

Sudden movement up on the stage had her leaning half out of her chair. "Oh hey! They're about to start the singing!"

The water and pretzels were doing much to make the raccoon less bouncy in excitement for her friend's good fortune. That she could literally taste her friend's excitement might have attributed to Morgan's own bounciness in excitment, "Truly doodly truly? That is great! Aaaand Imma certain yer work will be awesome, heh. And I'll keep the nomen-name, Fiddler Fair-yes? Yes-yup, keep eyes peeled-no-ouch, eyes open for it, heh."

The switching of topics caused Morgan to swing her attention, and most of her body, towards the stage, tipping the chair onto two legs. It was a testament to her skill at keeping balance on rooftops that she corrected the chair's balance back onto four before it toppled over. The excitement over Fiddler Fair hadn't died down even remotely yet, "Arrrr we up? Izzz it others? What are they singin oro-or what arrrr we singin-a-song, ding-dong, bing-bong...oh, rrright, the state, heh."

She couldn't honestly recall if anyone had signed up before the two of them or not.

Lynn frowned a bit and narrowed her eyes in concentration. "Um, I think that someone else is singing before us. We get to sing after them. And then some others will probably sign up and we'll just go around and around until they throw us out. Again." She giggled a bit and carefully took a drink. "This is gonna be fun!"

It turned out that the first singer was actually a group, one guy and a couple of girls who clustered up in front of the screen and started in on a more than slightly off key version of Love Shack by the B-52's

Morgan giggled along with Lynn before pausing, "They canzz toss us out iffen we sssing too much?" A beat passed before her mouth formed an "O" as she got it, "Oooh, heh, closing time tis what you meant, heh-heh. All nighter atta bar tis fun-oft-forgotten times, heh-heh."

The trio were either not good singers or too drunk to match up with the song. Or both as would be the case when a certain raccoon tried to perform. This didn't stop Morgan from tapping her claws, no her hardened mask meant they were fingers, on the tabletop along to the beat. The B-52's would either be amused or ashamed to hear such a rendition of their song.

Eventually it ended and the staff called out their names. The Twilit Page stumbled out of her seat, "Hey-hey, tis our turn, yay, heh." And made her way towards the stage. She stumbled at the edge and would've faceplanted if her reflexes didn't mean she rolled instead. Though she did take her time standing back up. Then her drunken brain deduced a problem, which she addressed to Lynn as soon as her friend caught up to her, "Yo, query? Heh-how do we ssstart doing the thing?"

Lynn slung her fiddle over one shoulder as she followed after Morgan, pausing with her head cocked to the side as the other woman tripped and then struggled up. She would have helped, but had the feeling that her own unsteadiness would only add to the problem, not help.

"Well." She reached out and grabbed one of the microphones where it was hanging in front of the monitor and then pointed at the guy sitting at a nearby table, surrounded by equipment. "We tell the nice man sitting over there that we're ready . . . or he gets tired of waiting for us. And he starts it. Here." She made sure the microphone was on and handed it over to Morgan then grabbed one for herself. "What were we doing again . . ." The question was answered as the patient deejay pushed a few buttons and started the count down.

Lynn crossed her fingers took a deep breath and started singing. Surprising even herself, she managed to be reasonably in key and get most of the words right.

It's supposed to be bad anyways

Morgan nodded her head rapidly as she took the microphone, shooting it up into the air in a victory pup, "I got it, the microphone-and-rules, both gots, heh-heh. We arrr gonna sing!" She did remember to hold it properly (ish) before trying to sing.

Morgan did...much worse. She did get every third word right but was clearly having concentration problems from the alcohol. She'd probably do better if she tried doing backup instead of singing along.

On the positive side, the Twilit Page didn't notice her errors. Gleefully singing about "Glowing free like whiskey on the barn" and otherwise butchering the song's lyrics.

Lynn laughed gleefully as the song ended, this wasn't about doing well, it was about enjoying yourself. And it looked like they were succeeding wonderfully. She put the microphone down and helped Morgan get her's back in the slot before heading down towards their table.

"That was awesome!" She giggled as she sat down and grabbed a couple pretzels. "This was an awesome idea. Thanks for thinking of this." She sat back with a sigh and ran her fingers through her hair.

Morgan let Lynn handle the "musical equipment," she was the musician after all. Shew was also enjoying herself, laughing despite having as much trouble getting off the stage as she had getting on, though this time she had a table to catch herself on instead of doing another handstand. The folks at that table didn't seem to mind, they actually looked disappointed at the lack of acrobatics.

Following Lynn to the table, Morgan plopped herself down in her seat. Morgan gave her friend two thumbs up, "I know ssssso many good clubs and pubs, bars and...no rhyme, meh. Heh, nada try karaoke afore but tis indeed fun times." Morgan then tried to drink some water but ended up missing most of her mouth with it. At least she didn't drop the glass and it didn't kill the raccoon's good mood, "Though I think next time we she bring enough friends to make a line..." then she started to snicker.

The image of certain friends she had in town trying to do this was kinda funny. Hell, Morgan would, in her current state, be willing to put up a cash prize to get the likes of Malory Gray or Sam Hain to try karaoke.

Some nights, you just need a drink.

Maybe a drink... and a song. There's magic in songs. Songs are the original Interwebs. True story. The shared consciousness over certain sounds that let a person know that they aren't alone. That someone else has felt the same -- happy, sad, mad, the whole bit. And sometimes, Sad Songs (Say So Much).

This was his party after Valentine's Day party.

By the time it was time to sing, a pleasant tingle ran through fingers and lips were numb against the drink glass. Eyes found a harsh glare to focus on for the performance.

Curls bounced on the mop with a small bow, and the microphone was traded for a drink. This drink? Made it about a quarter of the way to where he wanted to be. Spots from the overhead lights slowly faded, and he caught a face in the crowd.

Oh, hey. She'd looked familiar before, but it'd been hard to see clearly over the caterwauling.

    "Hey."
A hand flapped, something between a wave and a point at Morgan. "We met, right? At the park? Can I sit? Is this, like, private? Like a date? It's no big if it is."

Lynn burst out laughing along with Morgan at the idea of some of the people she'd met actually getting up on stage and singing karaoke, drunk or not. That would be a sight to see and if ever did happen she'd be there with a video camera to catch the whole thing.

She'd managed to wind down to quiet giggles so that she didn't disturb the next performance, but she was still feeling a bit foolish when a sudden voice surprised her. She glanced over and waggled her fingers at the newcomer. "Hello. 'S not a date. So, not exactly private. You can sit down if you like." Lynn glance at her fiddle case. She'd been about to put it back in the third chair, but that would now be rude. Instead she slung it off one shoulder and set it in her lap, patting it to make sure that it stayed put.

"Sit, sit!" She pushed out the chair with one foot and waved at the food on the table. "We've got plenty to share."
