"Stay safe, Jordan," Henry replies. Once Jordan has closed the car door behind him, Henry heads to the base's parking lot. He parks the car, and gets out, trying to look like any visitor to the base. He smoothes his suit and checks the ID's presence in his jacket pocket one last time.

Henry takes one last deep breath, and starts confidently walking towards the base entrance. Into the mouth of the beast. He doesn't want to take any chances, however (does he ever?), so he weaves a few pieces of Mind around himself before getting to the guard booth. Who says Guardians can't be charming?

    Narration

Jordan begins his waiting as Henry drives off.

Approaching a check point, a bored MP steps out and holds out his hand for Henry to slow and stop. "This is a restricted area, sir."

It's clearly a request for Henry to elaborate on his presence. The M1911 on his hip eyes Henry warily.

Henry stops at the MP's "request". He firmly stands his ground, and takes the most recognizable of the three ID cards from his jacket pocket. He shows it to the MP, knowing the details are invisible from this far off, but wanting to project confidence. "Terrence Phillips, AFOSI," he says, reciting the name on the ID. "I'm here to investigate the theft from a days back."

Henry had the weird impression that Eight-ball had had entirely too much fun while picking a name for him, but he had no idea where the old coot ould get a name like that.

The MP takes the military ID and gives it a cursory glance. He pulls a portable barcode scanner out of the house and scans it, then waits a few moments to hand it to Henry, after reading some sort of indication on the scanner.

"Very good, sir," he replies. "Do you need anyone notified, or need directions anywhere?"

From the note he was left with the IDs, Henry knows that the scanner will soon transmit it's reading to a server. That server will then queue up the request for verification on the GCCS cloud.

    The clock is ticking.

Fifteen minutes later, a cab pulled up to the main gate, and Jordan emerged, looking to all the world like a junior exec-type flunky, complete with portfolio. He makes his way to a guard.

"Good morning. I'm Rivers with Pennsylvania Small Arms. I've been sent to make arrangements to replace ordnance that was reported stolen from here. I'll need to see whoever you have investigating the case. I also have a thousand insurance forms."

He hands the guard a business card.

Henry replies. "No need to tell anyone, I'll notify them myselves if I need to. I would like to get to the arms depot, the morgue, and the officers' quarters." ((If the bodies or weapons disappeared from different named places, assume he asks directions to those places instead))

Once he has his directions, Henry heads determinedly for the arms depot, expecting to meet Jordan there a few minutes later. Along the way, he looks around the base and focuses on a single officier he comes across ((If no officers in sight, then random sleeper soldier)). If there's anything to Jordan's theory of a Seer-controlled base, he sure as hell isn't walking in blind.

(( There actually isn't a morgue or arms depot -- it's been entirely converted to storage. ))

    Henry

Henry doesn't see anything unusual, and makes his way to the hangar where the theft occurred. He drives the perimeter a few times and notices the official tape lines, as well as the new-looking door on the west side. He then checks nearby warehouses, and confirms that the door is, indeed, new.

    Jordan

The MP takes the card and gives Jordan a curious look. "Sir, I believe you have the wrong address."

Confirming one last time that this is the warehouse he's looking for, Henry takes one last look around. Seeing very little of interest, he opens the door and goes right in, trying to play the part of the investigator looking around.

...right into the door. It's locked.

Lock imposes -3 Penalty to pick, if Henry has tools.

((Screw it. he who risks nothing, has nothing. This is assuming there is no obvious way to open the door, aka card reader that can take one of Henry's fake IDs, etc. Also BTW, ignore the roll for a spell in the Dice Roller. Realized after rolling that it was Vulgar. This is not due in any way to the success level of the spell, in fact the original roll was as awesome as it gets.))

Henry watches the guard in the tower out of the corner of his eye, waiting for him to look inside, then turn to the outside. While he does this, he pretends to rummage around in his pockets for the key.

Once the guard has thrown his periodic look inside, Henry gets to work on the lock with his trusty mini-lockpick. Have to get this done, and quick, he thinks.

    Roll

As he works, he throws frequent looks over his shoulder at the guard tower, and less frequent, but still present, looks in the other direction, to make sure he isn't surprised red-handed.
