On the Range

"That is is. I honestly miss it sometimes," replied April in regards to living in Washington, DC. Turning to Tom, she offered him a quick smile. "It is more interesting than you can imagine! But the tourists can be a major pain in the ass..." she let her words trail off as she chuckled softly. "Don't worry, y'all aren't that obvious," she said to Tony with a quick wink. "I'm just getting really good at spotting Feds." She let out a little laugh after saying those words, offering the two men a winning smile.

"I actually graduated from Notre Dame with a degree in history," said April in response to the question about her studies. "I'm out here for grad school, attending Sac State."

Tony gave the tiniest of shrugs to his partner when the direct former detective gave him eyebrow. As she addressed Tom, he couldn't help but chuckle at the serious truth of the matter. Tourists in DC were the worst!

"Good to know! I was starting to worry that I had grown cop eyes," Girardi joked, that smile crossing his face. He was clocking her age somewhere at or around 25, and why she would come to Sac State for grad school was beyond him if she was from the District. "Hey, that's awesome. Doing the next step in history?" It seemed a fair question - many people seemed to carry on with their undergrad for graduate studies.

Not that Tony was a graduate-studies kind of guy. He'd done his undergrad, sure, but that was just to get him a leg up on becoming a cop. It wasn't like the Feds were looking for kids without degrees for rapid advancement or anything...

Tom quirks an eyebrow and a corner of his mouth twitches a little when April mentions being good at spotting Feds. He hadn't exactly been one for very long, so that was one hell of a talent. He shrugs a little, "Well, hopefully I'll end up back there sometime in the near-distant future. If so I'll have to be sure to get some pointers from both of you.!" As the conversation continues he begins preparing his gun for the range. He loads up a clip (but doesn't load it into the gun!) and transfers the necessary equipment to the stall. "How long have you been in town?"

April laughed a bit at Tony's words, shaking her head slightly. "No, I've just met a few of you guys out here in Sacramento," she said, leaving out the part about dating a Fed. When she was asked about her studies, she shook her head in response to the question. "Not really, I sort of switched to a different field entirely." Turning slightly towards Tom, she gave him a quick shrug. "Let's see, slightly over a year now?" said April in response, recalling her arrival to Sacramento and her first night at the Spiral. Well, that was certainly an interesting night, she thought to herself, a smirk growing on the corner of her lips.

Tony smiled as he reloaded the half-spent clip manually, flipping bullets in above the other ones still remaining. He knew an evasion when he saw one, and she was rather specifically avoiding telling them what field she was in. The curious investigator in him now wanted that information, but this wasn't a suspect to be interrogated. April actually seemed rather nice. He simply gave an 'ah' when she mentioned she switched fields.

"So Tom, does this place get any more fun after a year?" Tony asked with a grin, figuring it was time to drill a little. He turned toward his lane, putting a target up as he did. Usually he didn't come to the range to flirt with pretty women - there was paper to be killed and by God, he would kill it.

Tom laughs at the question, letting the tone of his laugh express his thoughts on the matter. Rather than answering his raises his firearm and puts hot lead through paper. Then, with a miffed expression and a grunt he fires twice more, hitting the targets he missed before. His shooting is clearly not as good as the two DC-ites.

"Well, you do get to meeting some interesting people," said April in response, even if the question wasn't for her. A smirk formed on her lips after she said those words, and she started walking back over to her lane and loading her revolver with six new rounds. Once loaded, she spun the chamber once and flicked her right wrist to lock it into place.

April took a couple of steps towards the spot where she had been shooting from, cocking her gun once more as she took aim. Once again, she landed five solid shots on the paper target. Nothing super fancy, but definitely solid shots, all around the same area. And yet again, her sixth and last shot hit its mark flawlessly, right in the middle.

Turning back to the agents, she blew softly on the smoking chamber of her revolver as she gave the two agents a playful wink.

Girardi snapped his clip back into his Glock, pivoting on his heel to look down his lane. He point-shot the target, striking it in the chest several times in a decent little grouping. One of the shots in there was definately a killer, a heart-shot that would've blown most guys away.

The Glock carried 17 shots plus one in the chamber, but he wasn't going to empty the clip all at once, preferring to shoot a set and then take a moment to evaluate his performance. He was mildly distracted by the alluring student shooting them a wink. She really was good. "Remind me never to mess with you," he joked to the girl. He looked over at Tom's paper target for a moment, then politely back to his own. Girardi had the sense that of the two, he'd be taking point where shooting at things was concerned.

Tom just blinks as April shows him up. He hadn't seen her previous performance, and with a six-shooter to boot. Damn. He shakes his head and chuckles to himself. "Well, clearly I've got my work cut out for me." He had taken eight shots already, leaving a full nine in the mag, so he notes his current shots, then raises his gun and goes at it once more.

This time all his shots hit, and with stationary targets his precision and accuracy are at least within regulation, but he clearly isn't as proficient as either of the other two at the range. He nods to himself, satisfied at least to not make a total fool of himself, then asks, "So, either of you city folk got any pointers for the small town boy?" Sacramento wasn't a small town by anyone's definition, but it wasn't DC and he didn't mind poking fun at himself.

April laughed as she set the revolver down, shaking her head slightly. "Oh, you don't have to worry about me," she said playfully to Tony, a smirk touching the corner of her lips. "Its not like I'm some sort of femme fatale or anything. I'd need some fancy, foreign name for that..." she let her words trail off as her smirk grew a little. "French, or Russian maybe?" April let out another laugh after saying those last words, pushing some of her hair behind her left ear as she turned to Tom.

"Small town boy, huh?" she asked, her tone slightly teasing as she raised an eyebrow at him. "Didn't you say you were from Sacramento?" The smirk returned to her lips as she asked the question, and it was clear that she was at least enjoying herself by messing with these two just a bit.
