On the Range

Tom grins roguishly at April, "Well, I suppose Sacramento isn't exactly the back-country, but it's small compared to a place like DC, and not as important to most people outside the city limits."

He listens to what Giardi has to say and nods, considering. "A good point." He checks his ammo load and tops it off then, slower, fires off another set. Each shot is measured, with several seconds in between, as the Agent attempts to slow his breathing and zero in on the target, less concerned now with keeping up or showing off. After all, it was clear to him he couldn't really do either here. It was a good thing, ultimately. One didn't really get better without challenge.

It takes over a minute for him to fire off at each target. He pauses for a moment, noting that he still managed to miss one of them. Taking aim once more he sights in and fires off on last shot. It clips the paper target but only barely. "I think that one cheats," he murmurs to himself, but loud enough to be understood by the other two. Despite the cagey target, two others are clearly well placed shots, one of which would have pierced the heart, had the paper target had one. Overall, Tom is pleased by the result.

Nodding he turns back to Giardi. "Thanks. I see what you mean."

April laughed at Tony's response, shaking her head slightly. "Right...because there are so many super-villains named after months," she said, teasing the agent back a little. "I should go find me a June and August so we can form a crime syndicate of some sort." With those words, she gave him a playful wink as a devilish grin formed across her pretty lips.

Turning her attention to Tom, she raised an eyebrow at him. "You know, DC proper is not all that big. Its only about 68 square miles, but its metropolitan area is larger than that," said April in response to his comment about Sacramento being small compared to the nation's capital. "Besides, this is the capital of California, is it not? That's gotta count for something!" She let out a little laugh after saying those words, falling back to silence as Tony gave Tom some advice.

April watched as the agent took another round of shots, doing slightly better than he had the last time around. One in particular was rather impressive, to which she nodded. "Don't lock your elbows or your knees," she said to him, recalling some of the advice that another agent had given her once upon a time. "Make sure you keep a steady grip on your gun, and don't try any fancy shit." She paused for a moment as she gave him a quick wink with those words.

"Aim for the chest; its a lot easier to hit than the head," she added after the pause.

Tom chuckles as Tony's own shots go a little wide. Well, at least I'm not the only one who looks like an idiot... Tom didn't honestly think either of them were a bad shot. They were, after all, trained agents. But that didn't make them automatically sharpshooters, and April was clearly very well practiced. Something about that made Tom smile, and rather intrigued. "Always room for improvement, Tony."

He considers April's advice and nods. "Good advice. I generally don't try for anything fancy, but sometimes it's hard not to try to show off. Guess Karma's keeping an eye on me." He smirks as he speaks, then he replaces his ear protection and fires off another set, calm and measured. None of them are overly spectacular, but each one hits home.

"Well, how about that. It worked!"

April couldn't help but laugh at Tony's last words before he went back to shooting, shaking her head slightly. She then turned her attention back to Tom as he spoke to her, responding to the advice she had given him. "Showing off here in the range is one thing," she said to the agent with a little nod. "But remember that when you are out there, showing off can get you killed." April paused for a moment, letting her words sink in before continuing. "Its all muscle memory and practice; that's why I focus on these techniques to make sure that if I ever have to make use of that revolver outside of these walls, I will not miss my target," she added as Tom got ready to fire another round of shots at the target.

Watching every single shot hit its mark, April nodded to herself, glad that he had taken her advice. When he spoke up again, she offered him a pleasant smile. "It did indeed," she said, letting out a soft chuckle.

Tom nods and can't help a small grin. He doesn't say anything more, simply turning his attention back the range, and to his practice. He really did need to work on sharpening up his form.
