"Good evening sir, ma'am," Dillon says to the other Kindred as they gather around. His enunciation is such that more emphasis is placed on the word evening rather than sir or ma'am.

Simply put, it showed the proper deference to His Majesty without revealing to any prying ears Asa 's status among them.

Between statements, he answers Catherine, playfully speaking for he and Martha. "I think we're fairing well this year. Hopefully the next will continue along the pattern."

After a perfectly timed beat, immediately following Martha's performance, Dillon leans in toward the center of the collective group, adding in a mock-conspiratorial tone, "And may the the majority of our surprises be pleasant ones."

[Asa]

"Very well, thank you," Asa answered Catherine.

His eyes lingered on her necklace and gloves before sweeping over to Martha -- only pausing briefly on her changed leg again curiously. Having given his Beast time to settle to the lone predator it perceived, he finally met Dillon's eyes. If not for those brief seconds, the other leaning forward might have been... vexing.

With the utter absence of the women's Taint, it only emphasized Dillon's. That, and the whole innocent sweetness that Martha seemed to exude. It was almost comical.

"The pair of you should do Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf next Halloween," he added, giving voice to the humorous thoughts and gesturing at them.

At least then what he saw would match what he felt.

"Thank you for the well wishes -- I wish the same for all of you, beginning with this evening."

Catherine noticed the shifting of Asa’s gaze to her neck and unconsciously lifted a gloved hand to the thin chain she wore.

“For now and hereafter, may it so be.” the Bard whispered mostly to herself, but as an equal answer to all three Kindred.

The new year was almost upon them, another year for hunting, and for the tides to change again.
