Aenigma had worked hard to make tonight happen. After returning from Greece, he had been working with Gina and the lead curator at the museum to finalize all the details for the exhibit's inauguration. Tonight was the night, the night when all their hard work would pay off.

The invitations had been sent, the catering company already had everything in place. They had even managed to set up a bar in one corner of the room. Everything was perfect for this evening, which happened to be the inauguration of the Minoan exhibit. The Fillard was to hold a number of Minoan artifacts within its walls for the next few weeks, and accomplishment the Warlock was certainly proud of.

In just a few minutes, the doors would open to the public. The young Mystagogue stood in the room, looking around the different exhibits with a smile on his face. There was a variety of pottery, depicting different maritime scenes. A collection of murals were also spread across the room's walls, and in the center of the room there was a glass case, which contained a bronze statue depicting the Minoan Snake Goddess.

This is it. Tonight is gonna be great.

It had not been terribly easy for the Daeva to acquire an invitation, but with a tenacity he had not needed to display overmuch in Sacramento, he brandished one now with a flourish.

Museums were not a place that Adam generally spent too much time around, owing to pre-darkness closing times, but this display was perfect in that regard. A night time slot allowed an undead predator to enjoy a little culture before dinner. He was relatively unfamiliar with Minoan culture, but what were museums for if not to learn?

With a quick collar adjustment of his navy shirt, the Daeva strolled toward the soon-to-be open doors; expecting but not actually feeling the press of any other Beast. Not yet anyway. If Adam had learnt anything since coming to Sacramento, it was that where one Kindred would be, more would eventually follow. By accident or design.

Sidor Grigoriev had acquired an invitation, because he had been in the mood, and had asked politely.

There had been no indication that he would ask impolitely, but still, he had gotten an invite. Sometimes, just having his voice was enough.

There were a great many reasons he wanted to go, but chief of all was an extremely simple one: only a complete fool would put Minoan Exhibits under a spotlight and risk their destruction. Therefore it was one hundred percent certain that the lighting would be extremely dim, and he would be able to alleviate the risk of anyone noticing that his face was invisible.

And also because Sidor rather liked history. The human desire to collect their past and put it inside a glass case was both fascinating and entertaining.

There would, at the very least, be people to watch.

    Sidor liked watching people.

For now, he conscientiously kept himself out of the main lights, his fedora pulled down low over his eyes. He did not move. He had no intentions of drawing people's eyes to him, even outside, where the darkness was freely available to all. He was dressed formally, but not eye-catchingly, although he was wearing a vividly forest green tie.

This was not because he enjoyed the colour. It made people look at the tie, instead of his face.

The mind of a tactician spotted these things.

One of the good sides of being a regular at the Fillard Museum was that you tended to be aware of events such as this Minoan exhibit before most people. Incidently, you also tended to have a rather easier time getting an invite. And last, when it was a member of your Order that had organized it all, it was only a formality, really.

Miach had wondered about going though, if he were inclined to be honest with himself. Even if Menwel had taught him to appreciate the finer points of arts and culture, he had had a hard time assimilating that lesson. Even now, the Acanthus was more inclined toward bar and clubs than museums and theaters. What had tilted the scales was the possibility to socialize with potential donors for Sutters, really, since the contribution of Minoan civilization to medicine seemed to have been slim, and while the exhibition might be overall interesting, Miach doubted he would learn anything directly useful about his chief topic of interest.

There remained the pleasure of a leisurely evening.

    -1 Glamour: Hardened Mask

Clad in a simple, plain - if sleek - black dress, a particular Changeling walks in, glancing about in silent apprehension as she walked towards the doors doors, heels lightly clicking. It felt unusual to be at such an event, the weight of academia around her. But it was also an opportunity, a vital one, and she idly adjusted her grip on her handbag, glancing around at each person in the room as she stood in silence.
It took her a few moments for her to calm herself down, to reassure herself that the others would not see through her mask. That everything would be okay. She was a grown-up, wasn't she? And grown-ups had jobs, and all those other lovely things.

The invitation for the museum had come after she'd been regretfully turned down from a job at the local library - it carried the promise of networking, socialization. Admittedly, her previous attempts at socialization hadn't gone too well. She'd have to work on that if she was to make a good impression here. But she could handle it. Yes, her dress was from the goodwill, and yes, it'd been difficult to groom and apply make-up in the mirror when her face looked as disfigured as it did, but once she'd hardened her mask and gotten a good look at herself, it was worth it. Everything was going to be great. She looked wonderful, she knew her stuff, and she just had to play the part.
Inhaling, the blonde smiled, feigning a reassurance she didn't have, and stepped into the museum, the cracks on the tiles more apparent with each step she took. Her shadow was just a little bit tall, a little bit disjointed, and not entirely touching the floor. But anyone who was looking at the ground, rather than the cute, babyfaced girl walking in likely needed to get their eyes checked.

Quietly, she slipped over to the bar, asking for a glass of coke. Bars were where business people meant to talk.
When the soft drink arrived, she wrapped her fingers around the can, and watched the room, her nerves apparent on her face. It was a mixture of the typical anxiety that comes with socialization, mixed with the nervous qualities of a typical eighteen year-old, trying to act like a grown-up and not be called out on their age.

Kite was still relatively new to the cultural world of Sacramento. Several months before, Kite had taken a position as Art Manager to Emily Gideon. He had made a respectful showing at the one gallery showing he had attended, and after assisting in the sales of many of Miss Gideon’s paintings, he was eager to make a further name for himself. Getting invitations for the opening of the exhibit wasn’t easy, but what he lacked in knowledge or presence, he more than made up for in sheer stamina and resolve.

Kite came dressed in his usual coat, shirt, pants and light boots – what was now his typical outfit. He was maybe slightly underdressed for the occasion, but Kite was nothing if not a creature of habit. With a flourish, he held open the doorway to the exhibit for his accompanying friend… and client.

    “After you, Miss Gideon.”

Vaeltia was proud that her employee, seeing as she was the one signing his checks that was what she considered him, had managed to snag invitations. She figured she probably could have gotten them herself, through one way or another but had been just a tad too busy to actually go looking for them herself.

She had decided to try something a little different: hair extensions. They weren’t permanent, but from what she could tell, they at least looked natural. That and the wine-colored dress, heels, and a little makeup to make it look like her skin wasn’t completely scarred up.

The talon marks on her shoulder still showed but over all she didn’t look like she had been tramping through the woods.

Thank you, Mr. Kite.” she said as stepped past him and into the Museum.

“I must confess, I don’t know much about the Minoan civilization… other than the basics.” Stephen started to walk around the exhibit with Ms. Gideon. “I know that the civilization was based on the Greek island of Crete, that it was ravaged by a volcanic eruption in…” Stephen paused a moment, searching his memory. “1500 BC? 1700 BC? Somewhere in that range?” Stephen glanced back and forth between Emily and the exhibits as he continued to slowly walk through the displays. “…and I know that a few archeologists believe that it ultimately served as inspiration for Plato’s Atlantis.”

Stephen stopped when he came to the central statue. “…and I thought that the Minoan civilization was fascinated by bulls. I didn’t realize that they had a deity associated with snakes.” After scrutinizing the statue for a few moments, Stephen turned back towards Emily. “I’m sure you know more than I do on this subject…”

Fueled with a dose of sugar and caffeine, the Gravewight finally takes the courage to approach the pair currently wandering around the room, her feet making an anxious rhythm against the floor as she approached, glancing over at each one. They were talking about the bull, something about the Minoans and their gods. Quietly, her lips curled up in a smile, and she stood a bit straighter as she finally reached them, glancing up at the statue they, too, were looking at.

"Actually, I don't think many people know much on the subject of that goddess. Some statues were found, and people have assumed they're goddesses, but... we don't know their names, or anything else about them. My theory is that she represents fertility, but that's just a guess by her... bare features. Could be death, too, since snakeskins represent the renewal of life, but we'll never really know, will we? It's sad, really." Jessica briefly gave the statue a brief glance over, before her eyes widened, and she gave the pair a shocked look.
"Sorry. Sorry! Didn't mean to interrupt, I just love talking about these kinds of things." She grinned slightly, as if caught with her hand in a cookie jar.

Though taken aback by the sudden intrusion, Stephen quickly recovered and smiled at the clearly enthusiastic woman. “There’s no need to apologize.”

Stephen offered his handshake. “My name is Stephen Kite, and this…” Stephen motioned to Emily, “is my client, Emily Gideon.”
