"Alright, well that's just fine then," said Jaeger and headed to the security guard. "Sir, I'll be leaving the premises with Mr. Adams. We'll likely be back in an hour."

Once he was clear he heads down the recreation path around the lake. "What do you think, Mr. Adams? Think there's someone around here who frequents the lake everyday? I'd guess that the dumping was likely carried out at night. Groundskeepers wouldn't be out that late. Area is nice, I wonder if any homeless try to sleep on the benches." Again the agent thinks aloud, not minding if Samuel wishes to give his input. For now Jaeger's keeping his eye out for groundskeepers and homeless and anyone who looks fairly idle and not like a tourist.

"The best place to check first would be the surroundings houses, I would imagine. In a nice area like this, a vagrant would probably be noticed."

As he spoke, he looked about them and gestured starkly to a couple of pretty little houses in the distance. There were not many, which would make their canvassing the area a damned sight faster.

"If any passers-by come this way, we can question them too, perhaps?" he asked, deferring to the Agent beside him.

"You may be right," replies the agent, considering. "I'd hate to go knocking door to door like a salesman though, but they'd have the best view wouldn't they. Good place to start, thanks Adams." Jaeger smiles to the man and then begins walking along the path towards the residences. If they did encounter passerbys Lynx would try to, in a friendly authoritative manner, wave them over for a quick word. Do you live around here? Do you frequent the lakeside much? Have you ever been to the lake at night for the past few nights? Do you know anyone who might have been at the lake at night? He formed the questions in his mind and prepared himself to ask them.

As Jaeger scanned around, in the distance he can see a one-level house partly obscured by a few trees. Despite the small size of the home, the garden out front is pretty large and a old man is currently tending to it. There's a deckchair too, and an elderly woman sunning herself with a large fan as she sipped lemonade.

It's pretty deserted apart from the two of them, but from a cursory look of their garden, they spent a lot of time outside tending to it. Potentially, that suggested a couple of decent witnesses.

"Guess I'll start with those folks," comments Jaeger to Adams as he begins the short trek over to the house and its garden. He approaches the edge of the garden and calls out to the old man, "Good afternoon, sir. This is a beautiful garden you two have here." A friendly greeting to curry their favor. And it was true, reminded him of Portland's gardens. Even his mother maintained a small garden though nothing comparable to this. This was more than a hobby it seemed.

The older man paused in his work and straightened up. With his free hand he shielded his eyes against the sun, and with the other he held a particularly dreary, dead-looking plant. That was a little odd, considering most of the garden is so well kept with numerous flowers in bloom.

"Can I help you fellers?" he asked simply.

"I hope so, sir. My name's Leonard Jaeger. I'm a specialist from DHS: Geosciences assisting with a minor environmental investigation. We believe someone might be dumping garbage in the lake late at night. The city of Sacramento wants to ensure residents around Folsom Lake have a clean healthy environment to enjoy." Jaeger flips out his badge casually, trying to get used to the feeling. When speaking to the man he tries to downplay the situation by using words like 'minor investigation' and 'garbage' instead of chemicals. He didn't want to excite the old couple too much, even if the concerns would be valid.

Downplay

"If you could spare some time to answer a couple questions I'd appreciate the assistance. Primarily I wonder if sometime during the last week you've noticed anyone coming to the lakeside during the night, any vehicles that might have approached the waters?"

The man moved a little bit closer, and eyed the badge in the same manner of a guy who was going through the motions, without fully understanding what he should be looking for on the badge. He seemed satisfied enough, and when he straightened up again, he gestured behind him.

"You gonna do something about my roses then?" he demanded.

Because now that the authorities were here, he would going to make his voice heard.
