With all the paperwork filed away, Tobias had finally been able to spend the last two weeks preparing the inventory for his grand opening.

He started with the general inventory. These were mostly blanks, or un-adorned models, save for his own artists mark, a stylized treble cleff, accented with the two T's of his initials. He smiled as he traced the glyph. The first couple designs he'd tried looked, well stupid. At the time, he'd wished his middle initial was G, just to capture the clef right and not worry about the T's surrounding it. Finally though, he'd settled on the simple design, palcing the two T's in the curve of the clef. Those went in the back corner, visible from the entrance but not the most direct foot traffic. Anyone who wanted to check out that area could, but he wanted to drive traffic towards his more finished pieces.

He looked over the store, and the layout of the building he'd chosen. Pretty straight forward rectangular space. He'd set up the counter on the east wall, so that gave him the three walls and the center to play with. Picking the closest wall, he set up the next round of instruments. This, which he'd jokingly called his Storm line, further carrying the theme of the store, was a set of guitars designed mostly for beginners. They were the least adorned, made of good quality wood but without the inlay and adornment of some of the other lines.

His Tempest line was set up in the middle of the shop. These were the intermediate line. He'd worked a little more nuance into them, both in terms of visual design, and some tweeks he'd been working on to get richer sounds and lower harmonics. Each one featured his glyph, inlayed in a light color against the dark wood of the instrument, at the base of the fretboard, and featured a design on the body of a stylized stormcloud in various colors.

He set up the Hurricane line along the side wall. These were the most intricate of the bunch. Each featured a two-tone design on the body of the eye of a hurricane, sweaping along the curves of the instrument. The design continued up the fretboard, accenting the glyph placed at the base and winding up the neck. He was proud of the design, it had taken him a couple attempts to get it right but the final result was, in his opinion anyway, striking.

Lastly, he'd set a couple of things on the countertop next to the cash register. One was the mask, he'd worn to the Winter Formal. A simple psaltry, with strings running down the face. The second was an early version of the vase he'd made for Regina. He'd filled it with water and placed some plastic flowers in it, to darken the sound. The last was a music box, a simple wooden box with a design of a squirel sewing a dress on the lid, that would play a soft pastoral tune when opened. He hoped Terri would like it. More to the point, he hoped that she'd stop by to say hi so he coiuld give it to her.

Inside the glass display of the counter, was another guitar. This one, without a price tag, would serve as an example of his creative ability. He'd spent a few days on this one alone, carefully crafting each aspect of the design. This was not a part of his standard inventory, and as such didn't meet the storm theme that the others were carrying. Instead, it portrayed a rosebush, weaving throns around the instrument, and putting a single blossoming rose over the head of the guitar, accenting the tuning pegs. It had been made for a woman he'd met on the road, a talented singer with dreams of stardom. But they'd parted ways, and he'd never managed to find her to give it to her. Instead, it would serve it's purpose here, highlighting his skill, even if the design itself wouldn't appeal to all customers.

Tobias adjusted his jacket, and checked the clock. Midnight. Perfect time to start a 24 hour grand opening. He walked over to the door, and flipped the sign from Closed to Open.

Clare slips through the door and looks around, then spots Tobias and grins. "Hey! I was half expecting Line of Doom or something." She steps in and unzips her leather jacket now that she isn't in the chilly night air.

"Looks slow so far, want some company until people show?"

"Hey Clare," Tobias said with a wave. "Yeah, I guess most peopel aren't out and about right now. Was hoping to catch some of the rockstar crowd with a midnight opening." He chuckled. "Maybe I should have said 'Free Coffee' or something in the ads."

"Sure, I'll take some company. Can I get you anything?"

    Spartan

Spartan was not exactly the first person you would expect to find in a classical instrument store. But this was owned by a member of the Freehold, so he felt it only right for him to show up and support the Mister Thorne. When he arrived he was pleasently suprised to see some guitars. Not that he could actually play them, but it was at least something he was familiar with.

As he entered he gave Clare a polite nod and also gave a nod to whom she was talking to. Spartan is wearing a pair of jeans and a simple button down shirt with the sleaves rolled up to his mid forearm. His beard and hair are not messy, but not well tended, just enough to not look like a bum.

    Description

Terri's Mask is that of a petite, cute woman with vibrant red hair that has black streaks throughout. Obviously athletic, her natural demeanour is friendly and she always tends to have a smile on her face.

Her fae mien is akin to a red squirrel. She has a long bushy tail and ear tufts that poke through her hair. The black streaks are actually black feathers the are a part of her mien now,; a part of her noble order.

Terri's powerful Mantle initiates itself as the smell of baking bread but brings with it the feeling of the Harvest, that time to take stock of the coming troubles.

Terri bounced along to the grand opening wearing a simple pair of denim jeans and grey tee that had a picture of a Care Bear upon it, looking forward to seeing how Tobias had gotten along. She hoped the advice she had given had been at least of some help, and when she saw the store, she grinned with delight. Going inside, she gasped at all the various instruments on display, some of them truly spectacular from where she stood, and as the Beast saw the owner along with Clare and Spartan, she gave a wave.

"Hey guys!" the Harvest Envoy beamed enthusiastically, "How is everyone? Tobias, this place is epic! Congratulations!" she added before giving him a quick, friendly hug, just like her tee-shirt insisted.

Tobias smiled at the man as he entered. "Good evening," he said. "Thanks for coming by, let me know if I can help you find anything." He leaned in close to Clare and lowered his voice to a whisper. "I think I've seen him around, do you know him?"

When Terri came in, he looked up and returned her wave, only to be promptly squished by a hug. "Hey Terri," he said with a chuckle. "Thanks for coming. I have something for you." He reached behind himself to the counter, and grabbed the little music box he made. He presented it to her, "A thank you for your helpful advice."

After reading about the grand opening, and realizing where he heard the name Maelstrom Strings before, Alec decided he should show up. He is in Sacramento for a short while now, first he explored the whole city. Before he was taken he lived here, his memories aren't strong and from a long time ago, yet it isn't hard to see everything has changed. After exploring the city he could now make it a full time job to get to know more people... until he gets a real job.

Inside the store he looks around with great interest. He is happy to see that the majority of Lost is familiar to him. Two he met at the junkyard, the third is the Harvest Envoy! Only the fourth, a dangerous looking... or no, a dangerous feeling man. The Freehold has apparently more than a few strong Summer mantles. Alec smiles to he people he recognizes, 'Hello everybody!' but approaches the unknown man.

'Good... night sir, I believe we haven't met yet.' The Woodblood extends his hand to Spartan, 'I'm Alec Valentine.'

With deliberate intent, Kite silently migrated to the Maelstrom Strings, and walked quietly through its front door. After taking a cursory look around the store’s interior, Kite walked silently among the lines of instruments, gliding from display to display, occasionally taking time to admire a particular piece or two as though they were a work of art, rather than an instrument of art. Finally, after spending some time appreciating the craftsmanship of the instruments on display, Kite slowly drifted towards the shop’s proprietor.

“Mr. Thorne, it is very good to see you again!” he smiled as he offered his handshake. “Steven Kite, from the gallery showing a little while back. I have been looking forward your opening" he said as he introduced himself. "How has it been so far?”

"Hello Terri," Spartan gives her a smile that is rare for most, except her. No matter how wrathful the king is, he always has a smile for Terri. Spartan extends his hand to the owner, "Good Evening Tobias, Caster." Spartan says by way of introduction.

Catherine had followed the flyers, And she smiled at the time that the wiry man had unlocked the doors. Midnight was of some significance, especially since Sacramento wasn’t New York or Tokyo -- there were those hours where the City Slept.

She and her simple outfit swished into the shop, her steps perfectly choreographed as she surveyed the Kine and the store. She noted those in the room, was that the redhead that Seneschal Donovan had been talking to in the Asylum? She was pretty even in the grey shirt.

Then her eyes drifted over the guitars. How was that for perfect?

The Bard’s mouth split into a grin as her eyes looked over the tones that were in each piece of musical art. She was no Daeva, but beauty was something she knew. She wanted to touch, but, even as a vampire some things were still in the range of Hospitality.

And everyone knew what happens if you break those rules....or at least they would if certain stories were still told.
