It was hard not to notice Martha’s sudden but change in demeanor, considering the Lordess spent time with the petite shadow. Immediately realizing Ariana should have said Lance’s name, she turned to Martha and spoke. “I was laughing at Mr. Rayner’s jest.” She titled her head to the Deava’s direction for a moment and shook her head while she smiled.
Her hand raised up to gesture a point she was about to make. “What I meant by the cover, is sort of like a music video. The video sometimes changes your impression of the song. If the book cover would be blank, your imagination is more freeing. Sometimes the cover already begins to paint the imagery for you before you begin reading.” Leaning down and whispering to the Shadow in a tone that others could probably not hear, but the keen Mekhet would hear her clearly. “I recommend the second book with the cover of the woman on the beach.” It was clear in Ariana’s tone that she read it before. “A secret admirer meets her there…” She trailed off, not wanting to give away more of the novel. “When you are done with the book, would you like to discuss it?” Her tone still hushed. Ariana looked to Martha with reassurance in her eyes and a smile she saved for close friends.
