Derevko didn't speak. Wasting time like that was pointless. He squeezed the trigger on his Glock, three rapid rounds firing from the tip. He had to aim high to avoid the woman, and the third shot was definitely wide, but the scarred agent didn't care. The important thing was that the girl was safe.
His breathing was slow, and steady, and he didn't even blink.
5 successes, 3 successes, miss
All Jaeger knew was that someone was there in the room Derevko was looking into and they were eating lead. The shots rang off loudly down the hall as he ran forward. It was too early to make a judgement. When he reached the door frame he unholstered his piece trying to get a handle on the situation. Derevko with his combat training was more reflexive than himself, moving with his gut rather than his head. Lynx needed to take a moment to process what was going on. He trained his gun on the form in front of them as his eyes focused on the scene.
Runs after Yeager especially after he hears gunfire. His own weapon has been out and ready. He gets to the doorway assessing the situation, before moving inthough he was quick to sight down his weapon at the Man threatening the girl.
Quick note
April lets out a gasp as she hears the gunfire. She freezes where she is standing for a brief moment, unsure whether she wants to move forward. However, as both agents charge in Derevko's direction, she realizes that she is standing all alone in the hallway. So, not wanting to stay behind in the creepy hotel, April runs after the agents but stands behind them once she reaches the doorway, trying to peek into the room but keeping a respectable distance from the whole thing.
The man realises too late that it's a foolhardy move to bring a knife to a gunfight and, his attempt to back away results in doing not a damn thing to aid him. He clearly thought that having a hostage was a surefire way to get exactly what he wanted. As he hit the ground, the bullets painting a bloody picture across his chest, the knife dropped next to him.
The young woman's scream of panic is muffled by the mouth gag, but the continued terror shines in her eyes. After what's already occurred so far, she had no idea what to think.
Everyone is now free to move.
Derevko strode across the room, keeping the Glock trained on the downed man, and kicked the knife away from his hand.
"Call a bus," he spat, his voice full of loathing. It'd be so much simpler to leave the little bastard to bleed to death, wouldn't it? If he's not already dead...
"Everyone back there still in one piece?"
Lynx gaped in horror at the bloody scene. So this is how homicide responds to hostage situations. Damn, no wonder he's with DHS now. That kind of stunt threw 'by the book' back in its own face. They didn't have much time now though. With those kind of wounds it'd be a miracle if he could get an ambulance there in time. He let his partner attend to the hostage while he reached in his pocket for his cell phone.
He dialed DHS's emergency line. Calling 911 like any regular Joe wouldn't give them the same leverage or priority. A government order tended to speed up urgency for paramedics. "This is Agent Jaeger, DHS Geo. We've got a wounded man, two gunshot wounds, bleeding out. Need paramedics. I'll give you the address..." he'd say, assuming the line connected in this place.
