It's like a yo-yo. Hitting the ground, bouncing back up, only to hit the ground again. Shattered ribs knit together and torn flesh grows whole once more, and Joshua grows back to some semblance of functionality. Getting up off his knees, he quickly takes stock of the situation. He was too far from any of the dropped SMGs, and the shotgun Falx had "borrowed" from Brutus was likewise too far. By the time he had picked one up he would just be shot again--he thought the corpse might be low on ammo, but he wasn't sure. No time to check with magic, and if he tried to bet on it and bet wrong, it would be the end.
No time, no time... Only one thing to do, it seems: Joshua tries to remember the Imago from before, tries to shift the final gun into useless metal before it can hurt anymore of his teammates. When the Abyss inevitably tries to intrude, it comes as a trickle, not the expected flood--Joshua again takes it into himself, and as the cold spreads through his chest it feels almost familiar.

First sighing as Tug's magic heals him, then grimacing as his opponents slice him, Orphan continues to slice at the zombies. He swings his katana downward in a deadly kaburi strike, the blade cutting deep.

Tug starts wobbling on his feet even as Josh turns the last gun to scrap, and Orphan slashes away at the bastards. ...stay awake, stay Awake...

...but it's too hard to concentrate, and he barely manages to push himself away from the brink of unconsciousness. He stands his ground over his brother, making himself the target.

Narration
The room seems to become eerily silent as small flashes of blades and metal tings replace strobing muzzle flashes and automatic chattering. Cries of pain echo wet sounds as blades find flesh, and the large Thyrsus named Tug slumps to the ground. This close, the yellow, dead eyes and sallow skin of the attackers seem even more unnerving in the unnatural phosphorous light, and rank odors seem to attack the victims just as surely as the ka-bars.

Bringing knives to a gun fight

Teegan sees that her target seemed relatively unaffected by what damage she had caused and now Tug was laying on the ground next to his fallen brother. This isn't working! The zombies weren't shooting any more the others must have disabled their weapons but she wasn't sure in this strange dim light. She moves into the room and she's assaulted by the rank smell pouring from the undead soldier's wounds and the sounds of the blade fight. It makes her back away from them putting so distance between her and the enemy but she doesn't take cover this time. She takes aim at the zombie she last wounded and fires then sprays the bullets across to another one.

Tenacious fuckers, these zombies, and as one slashes at Joshua the Sentinel figures it's time to try simply overpowering it. But the stench is ungodly, and frankly... he doesn't want to go rolling in the muck with one of things while he's completely bareass naked. He's weakened, too, and he knows that he would have a hell of a time grappling with one of them.
The one that stabbed Tug is still standing over the Thyrus, bloodied knife in hand, and that is what makes up Joshua's mind.
He twists away from the creep that cut him, moving closer towards the door, towards Tug and Falx. He drops to one knee, picking up the shotgun Falx "borrowed" from Brutus. Joshua racks the pump as he rises, chambering a shell, and points it at the one threatening Tug. "What up, Ugly?" he asks it, wanting to draw its attention away.
