Brutus shut his trap and got ready to roll. Argument over what had happened would have to wait.
Organic Resilience
The magic of the Life arcanum is not something any shaman just does. A living being is made up of 'veins' that cris-cross the body carrying the living energy through every system. The pattern is akin to ones circulatory system, but instead of blood these magical veins carry what some call chi or mana.
Brutus was out of a steady flow of mana. His Pattern of veins would appear empty to Teegan's intense supernal sight. A living being was also made up of more then just his or her Living pattern. There was a Material, Energized, Spacial, and Chronological pattern as well. Brutus carried his ready supply of mana through his Life veins. He believed other Thyrsoi did the same, but wasn't sure. He also theorized that other Paths learned differently; like his mentor or Joshua. It was Brutus belief that they kept their supply spread through out their Material weave.
The shaman took a note from these other possibilities and considered his own pattern thoughtfully. His shielding spell would not consume this energy, only redirecting its flow. So it would be safe to play with his weaves.
Because this mana carried the resonance of a different part of his bein; specifically his Material Weave, Brutus felt its final manifestation come on like a sudden chill up his spine. He gasped aloud as it clicked into place.(Something that had never happened before)
In practice the spell was the same, his skin became thick and tough, his bones more dense, and his soft tissue compact. Yet now it felt odd, like a shirt that was too small.
Couple this with the complex weaves he already had laced together and Brutus suddly felt magically heavy. His Lack of chi made him tired. Brutus shrugged off his unease and set himself to the task at hand. This thing in the next room was going to die. And Brutus wanted to be the one to pull the trigger.

Though he'd rather run down there and shove his fist through the back of Ollie's killer's throat, Tug nods in agreement with Joshua's plan, as it makes more sense. "Alright, I'll do my best with this interference."

Teegan nods in agreement with the others and tensely awaits the order to fire, her fingers aching to pull the trigger of her MP5.

Seeing that everyone is ready as they're going to get, Joshua nods and says, "Let's move. Falx and Brutus keep left, Teegan and I to the right. Leave room so Orphan can move around you and hit him from the side." He moves to the right side of the tunnel and begins to approach the hooded figure.

Falx matches Joshua's position but on the left side of the tunnel. His drawn gun aimed at the hooded figure. The irony that he is now ambushing this thing does not escape him as he tries to smother a smirk before it grows any larger.

~~Narration~~
Teegan, and any other's that can see the figure, see him also 'bleeding' Resonance, although much more faintly than the sigils. It leaves him like minuscule fireflies, drifting lazily into the pit.
"I am Ungala Draconis," his voice echoes throughout the chamber, as he begins to turn. "Honor Is My True Name," Logos continues, as he lurches in a turn to face the opening in the cavern, shadowed face turning up to look. Hands and arms jerk in forced motion as he brings them up, and his Celestial Fire flickers, sputters, then dies. Dried sinew and bones snap as he begins to collapse, the spell animating him failing.
With a solid thud, the body hits the ground, and the last few motes of Resonance leave it to gently spiral into the pit.

Teegan steps out of the tunnel and follows Joshua around the side, as instructed, gun trained on the figure. After letting it lay where it came to rest for a moment she finally unlocks her gaze from it and looks around for any kind of exit, gun still in the general direction of the body, just to be safe. Why did it just fall over like that? The question disturbed her a bit, nothing she's ever encountered before this little trip to the park has been able to do things like that. Out in the army's sand box when you shot 'em they stayed the fuck down. Sand box..Ha. That thought made her realize that the military was a fun game compared to this and that made her very strongly wish to see the sky again.
