(1110) Torchbearers + Technique

Hmm... I knew I forgot one scene....

Mike was almost drunk, almost. That is, he thinks he has only got two drinks yet. Well, it's a party or it's a party, right? Too bad that after a while he realizes people are going to the dance floor... with him still sitting their, being passive.

And Mike is not the kind of person to be passive. So he throws his golden shirt off and rises from his seat, quickly following Qadesh and Ahriman.

'Guys, guys!' His facial expression is like: can I still join? Then he shows a grin to Qadesh as he flexes his muscles, 'I dropped the Glee version by the way.'

[Animus]

With one more nervous glance toward Josh, Animus turns back to Triquetra, forcing a ghost of a smile. "That is true. Perhaps we should find out together?" The words come out flat, the Thyrsus seemingly unable to quite get into the mood of the banter.

[Lux]

"...and suddenly we are alone...ish," Lux declared, glancing at her three other Cabal-mates forging the way to the dance-floor and then to the rest of the dispersing group. She took Pulp's arm and shrugged, letting him lead her to the dance floor. It was a night of revelry in spite of the darkness, and it was time to get it started...

I spared a laugh or five at the antics of Q, Ahriman and Mike as they make their way onto the dance floor but when Lux speaks and grabs my arm, I turn my attention to escorting "Eddie". I smiled at the notion of "alone...ish" as we walked the short distance from the table, understanding just how fitting the word was but internally resolved to enjoy at least one moment where the rest of the world disappeared and only the girl on my arm existed. Hitting the dance floor I give my best genuine nice guy smile as I take hold of her like a Gentleman would hold a proper Lady, I don't care if the song playing is slow or not, I just wanted one simple moment where Lux and I seemed to be the only thing in the world, which I hope isn't too much to ask of the universe consider what today is.

A second before we begin to dance I lean forward and speak quietly so only Lux is able to hear me.

"I promise I won't step on your toes."

And just like that, the silent Acanthus was alone again. Friends had paired up, couples had gone off to dance, and the Master of Fate was encouraged by tonight, if lonely. He swigs down a little more of the champagne, savoring its flavor. Atleast i could get their minds away from the troubles of the night. He pulls out his phone, fires of a text, and minutes later the two beauties are back, talking, joking, and laughing with the only remaining person at the table.

As the robe swirled around her legs while she twirled the pair of them out onto the dance floor, Triquetra decided that dancing in a robe wasn't all that different from dancing in a dress. It was just less revealing, and had sleeves. When had almost all the dresses you saw stopped having sleeves anyway?

She leans back slightly to use her weight to tug Animus out with her. She'd learned a while ago that he was strong enough that, when distracted, any light pull she made might as well be against an iron ring set into a wall. His mastery of Life was truly impressive.

She sidled up close to him as she fell into the steps of the dance, one hand rising to cup his cheek. "Come on...you were just talking to a Cabal full of new arrivals, we're at a party," her eyes twinkle slightly, playfully, "You're dancing with the hottest girl in the room. Relax, enjoy yourself."

[Animus]

Animus lets himself be pulled away, and is soon walking with his lover toward the dance floor. As the dance starts, he falls into his rhythm easily enough, tapping into the same primal reservoir that Triq remembers. But a second resonance flows through his movements as well, a wounded, caged quality.

For a long moment, the Thyrsus is silent, eyes drifting shut as he loses himself in the brush of his beloved's hand, the primal energy of the dance. Finally, a flicker of sadness as the silence breaks. "I just ... keep coming back to what happened, ... what he did to me."

Not for the first time, it becomes readily apparent that the Thyrsus is quite willing to go without vision, apparently taking in his surroundings in other ways.

Joshua pulls away from the table and watches the crowd unravel until it's just Tech and his ladyfriends left behind. The Moros was less-than-social at the best of times, and these times were not good. He's caught between brooding over the abandonment of the Circle, the dust-up at the Museum, and the costumes he'd seen tonight--which shouldn't bother him, but do. It's not any of his business, but still it rankles.

Joshua wanders back to the table now that it's a bit more of a safe haven. He slides into a seat and gives Tech a nod but doesn't say anything, content to be present there if not active.
