Lexi's eyelids droop a little as she drives, going far too fast to be safe. She almost falls to sleep, but manages to keep her head up, jerking awake. The momentary drop though, and the blurring of the world around her in the drug induced haze puts her directly in the path of a late night trucker. The horn screams in the air, and Lexi can hear brakes screeching. She tries to swerve out of the way, and manages to pull the bike aside. If she hadn't, she'd likely be a smear on the pavement.

But it's not over. Pulling the Camaro aside locks her steering and she's already unfocussed from the drugs. She broadsides the truck with the passenger side, most of the impact going through her left shoulder as the seatbelt locks. The car skids, and Lexi whips back against the seat.

There's a sickening thud. Everything goes dark for a moment.

When Lexi comes around, her left arm feels cold and slack, and doesn't seem to be moving. She's covered in scrapes and bruises, and the stars are shining blindly above her battered car. The truck is nowhere to be seen

Lexi takes 2 lethal, 3 bashing. Her left shoulder is dislocated.

The world was unfocused and grainy with hazy flickers and dots dancing across her vision like sunspots in an unfocused photograph. She closed her eyes again, lapsing into the eternity of a blink, and a low, breathy groan echoed from somewhere nearby. The darkness receded and the world swam into focus again, the shadowed roof of her car looming overhead. Brief aching throbs coursed through her, a constant background of pain that niggled away at her concentration, and she shook her head, trying to clear the haze from it. Another groan sounded when she tried to move her arm, and she realized that the noise was coming from her. Lexi lay sprawled in her seat, the fresh memory of being thrown onto her shoulder tearing through her mind, and she brought her right hand up to rub her face.

Drowsiness ate at her, and she almost fell asleep right there, eager to slip back into the warm haze clouding her mind, but the sudden image of another truck roaring down the freeway, bearing down on her while she slept, helpless in the tomb of her car, sent a bolt of fire into her heart. She sat bolt upright, and grunted as a spark of pain echoed from her shoulder, reminding her that she was injured. Lexi had to do something, she had to get off the road, she had to get somewhere safe. She remembered that you should call...someone, when you got into an accident. Her drug fueled mind refused to tell her who, but she had to call someone and tell them it was a hit and run. She started fumbling around, looking for the purse that held the phone she needed.

Lexi looks around in the car. Her purse must've been jolted by the crash, but she sees the strap sticking out from under the back seat.

There are no lights on the road outside. All seems dead.

The silent stretch of road, the unmoving stars above, and the still air hovering insider her car only served to fuel Lexi's urge to find her phone; everything was too quiet, too dead. It was like being inside a tomb.

Twisting into the backseat the young hunter grabbed up her purse and immediately began rummaging through it, looking for her mobile.

The cellphone's screen is cracked from its bumpy ride, but it lights up when Lexi presses the power button. It must have gotten switched off in the flight.

Who was she supposed to call? Lexi swore and rubbed at her face again, trying to remember who she was supposed to call. Who was there to call? Her parents? Jerome? Cal? Daysha?

NO! That was it, she had to call the police, tell them it was a hit and run, have them deal with it. There was no truck, it was only her, they'd have to believe her since her car was smashed all to hell. She swore again, guesstimating how much the bodywork would cost to get the vintage Camaro fixed, but her insurance would cover some of the expense. The accident hadn't been her fault since the jackass in the truck had run!

With that in mind, Lexi hit 9 1 1 and sat back, waiting for the operator to answer.

The voice through the end of the line immediately comes through, a little distorted, but understandable enough.

"9-1-1, what's the nature of your emergancy?"

"I-I got hit," she stammered, her tongue feeling like a lead weight in her mouth. "By a truck. Like...it was, I don't know what kind it was. It's not here anymore."

"Do you know where you are now?" The voice is professional, but soothing.

Lexi's having to fight like hell to even understand the questions. It sounds like the voice is jumping all over the place at times, and others it sort of swims into a mellow, flat pool that doesn't make any sense at all.
