Squaring (Up) The Circle

"Don't need to apologize to me," Joshua said mildly, meaning it. After a moment he adds, "You were both right. They were threats and could have gotten out of hand, especially if something happened to you. But you'd promised them better and you'd taken the fight from them for the moment. There was probably a better solution. And I'm sorry for not backing you on that."

He reaches into his pocket, digging for something. After a moment he pulls out a small clamshell box which he flicks open and holds out to the Thyrsus. "Can you take a look at this, and tell me what you think? I tried examining the Resonance but I just couldn't get anywhere. There are Matter, Fate, and Time spells on it, but trying to puzzle anything else out just gave me a headache."

[Animus]

A deep breath to collect himself. "Is this from when they sacked the place?" After a short pause, he turns to study the ring, trying to pick apart the spells on it.

Animus has never seen the Resonance of the spell, though it calls to mind roses rotting on grave coupled with a sharp tang of metal. The person who cast the spell was at least a master in one arcana. Its mid powered on all three spells, with two being cast much earlier than the last one. The durations are all indefinite.

Josh would notice, as the other touches the ring, there is movement from the ring and a woman, dressed in a ragged drowned wedding dress and hallow eyes is expelled forcibly from the ring.

Animus the ring moves in your hand and wraps itself tight around your finger.

[Animus]

"This wasn't some simple job, it was made by a Mast -- " The Thyrsus' voice cuts off abruptly as the ring suddenly attaches itself to him. Every movement becomes animal-like as he tugs unsuccessfully at the ring before giving up. For the moment, at least, he wasn't ready to do anything as drastic as taking off the finger with the ring.

A low growl, nervousness easily read through the weak attempt at being light-hearted. "And apparently it has a mind of its own."

Joshua grabs hold of his friend as the ring latches on, as though to pull the Thyrsus away from the enchantment. After a moment he turns loose. "Well that's new," he mutters, before turning to survey the room. "Something shot off," he says. "Looked like a woman." He focuses his gaze on the Twilight and looks about.

The woman is standing about ten feet away, eyes locked on Animus and a look of pure joy on her face. She focuses on Josh when he looks at her and scowls slightly as if he were a stain or something that didn't belong.

[Animus]

Either Joshua was seeing things, or ...

The Thyrsus reaches out to the Supernal, casting his gaze into Twilight. The grave flows over and through the spell, permeating it like some thick, oily film. Animal reactions strengthen further, as if to shield himself from the grey sterility seeping through his view of what he had once seen as a vibrant realm of spirits.

A hand reaches down, scratching Guards-the-Pack's ears as he looks toward the woman. Not all here was death. "What just happened? Who are you?"

The ghost smiles widely and she moves foward, basking in his attention. "You came back for me. I knew you would." She reaches out but her hand moves through Animus's Arm. She frowns but then almost like a dream the frown passes and she smiles. "You said we would be going to our special place. "

Joshua bristles slightly at the look the ghost gives him. Yeah? Same to you, lady. To Animus he drily asks, "Friend of yours?"

"Is this a friend of yours Jakob? " the woman asks in almost unison with Josh.
