(2504) April Consilium

[Asclepius]

Watching as others lead off one after another, no doubt to Converse or attempt to get a better understanding of the new charter. He decided to remain around no sense wandering off, his main focus was to understand what was in front of him and take the chance to query anything that stood out.

A couple of questions did come to mind, and luckily Aurora had stuck around to potentually answer them. After finishing reading the Charter, he stood an approached Aurora, she seemed to be presenting herself as very approachable thankfully. “Councilor Aurora, do you mind if I ask you some questions about the Charter? I understand that you also played a part in its creation judging by the praise from Chambers. Forgive me if I under sold your contributions.” With his introduction outlined, albeit a little formal but then again Chambers was no doubt taking notes for all. He began to ask his first question.

“I understand that the Charter has taken some time to Draft, quality control and Implement. I respect that there is to be some time to tinker some final points about Charter if anything glaring comes up; but It mentions here about Heralds and Sentinels. Has there been any discussion in regards to whether our consilium is going to be appointing anyone into these roles? I understand that the Hierarch will decide who is to be picked but I am curious if anything was said in passing. On top of that I was curious also on your thoughts if we should need them?”

And now for the second.

“It has also mentioned about Cabals here in the Charter, Is this being placed into the Charter for future benefits? For example if the Consilium gets large enough, or has it been included because someone expressed interest in creating a Cabal?”

[Aurora]

A smile was offered to Asclepius as he approached, taking a sip from her cup, “Not at all. I did help with it, as a Factotum, I felt it was important I offer my knowledge.” Then a chuckle and shake of her head, “No apology needed, I undersell my contributions a lot, I don’t need the praise.” It was her thing.

“Yes, quite a bit of time.” They don’t appear overnight. “Nothing has come up in regards to those. In order for those positions to be fulfilled, the Charter had to put into place first. I have not heard any discussion any appointments, and as you have already stated, that is up to the Hierarch. Each of the roles serves an important role in the Consilium as a whole in how it works and functions, and I have no doubt that should the need arise for them, then there will be discussions about them. Though I can assure that if I hear something, I will make sure you hear something. Are they roles you would like to see filed? Or are either a role you would like to put your name in for?” usually when someone asked such a question, they had a vested interest, and she was curious.

“Cabals have always been a part of Awakened society, and were part of the previous Charter, and the one before that. Mages work better together then alone; we are better able to keep an eye on each other and you are less likely to descend into madness with a Cabal looking out for you. The Concilium currently is large enough for Cabals, but we also know that people come and go that can make forming a Cabal difficult, forming that trust even more so."

[Guru]

Guru for the most part had spent his time in quiet contemplation reading. Though the snippets of conversation around him kept pulling him from his reading so he'd need to re-read and then re-read a passage. His distracted mind didn't help things as he paused and referenced the document to take make mental notes. He did his best to not eavesdrop on Cavendish and Thirteen thinking they would be discussing Path matters and thankfully the conversation among his immediate path members was relevant to the passage he'd been on at the time and thankfully it was at the end. Atomic weights and mathematical formulae weren't much of a challenge for him but he always had an issue framing these kinds of issues. He had made but hadn't participated in eating any of the food this time around since he didn't want to ruin the document he was handling. "It's a reasonable compromise, trust is hard to come by on the best of days and is so easily lost. I know it took awhile and some convincing from my friends to get me to organize." There was a warmth there and a brightness to his smile as he talked about Crystal and Kaze. "We are capable of much, but we are capable of so much more when we work together. It's always good to foster cooperation. I've always struggled with what to organize around, to my previous point." He knew they had had multiple meetings on what they were going to stand for, what they were going to do, and he was hard to keep on a singular track on the best of days though he thought he'd made some progress there.

[Asclepius]

The smile offered confirmed to him, that Aurora was indeed approachable. “Ah I see, I did not know or recall that you were a factotum, though I guess that is because I probably have never asked or had the context that required asking.” He sat and smiled as she Chuckled and shook her head, the urge to sprinkle some casual conversation in as well as charter talk. “No problem, I will refrain from singing praises. May I enquire why you undersell your contributions? I understand you don't want the praise but is there a reason for it? Forgive my curiosity, if it is a personal matter then feel free to not answer.” It was not an interrogation, after all.

“Oh okay fair enough, I did not know if they needed to be sworn in at the same time as the Charter was brought in. I agree with you, both of the roles are a valuable asset to a functioning and ordered consilium and no doubt like you say when we need them we will have them. No doubt the Hierarch will have trouble picking people for the roles, as we have many capable members that surround us. My interests are only whether the positions are filled, I felt it necessary to ask because I have a feeling that being an Arrow I would need to probably need to remember who the sentinel would be. I have no doubts that if there is to be a Sentinel that having a good rapport with them would be a smart plan considering that I would essentially be either speaking with them a lot or hearing news from them. As for you mentioning about putting my name forward, I am unsure honestly. While the title does carry some level of weight about it, I feel like I view it as, I will cross that bridge when I come to it. After all, Chambers may feel that we don't need one right away.” Doubtful, but I am not in the mans head and do not think the same as him.

“I agree Cabals are a great way for cooperation within the culture of mage society, thankfully our community is quite well connected to some degree at the moment. A Diverse set of skills is a great way to strengthen and protect one another from any in coming threats and such, I have no doubts that trust would be the biggest thing that would be hard for people, and not everyone will be as open as I consider myself to be with regards to new faces. I hold a person trustworthy until they show any lack of accountability, of course mistakes happen and things go wrong but a lack of ability to own their mistakes or short comings makes it hard for me to trust someone. Is there anything that stands out firmly for you to trust someone or not trust someone?” He sat and gave a curious look while he waited for a response.

His attention drawn to Guru when he spoke. “I agree, It is a hard and slow boulder to push up the hill and the slightest set back makes it fall far if not to the bottom of the hill. When there are those that are happy and willing to invest time in helping you, that is when you know that you have true Companions and friends.” The smile given by Guru seemed infectious as he found himself smiling in return, as it was always pleasant in the presence of Guru. “It is with that mentality in mind that I want to do what I can to build a positive rapport with all in the community if I can. I would hate to find that someone was worried about contacting me as they would worry about how I would react to their call for aid. Going back to what you mentioned, you must have come along way in your journey Guru, you don't strike me as a man that struggle with organisation.”

Conversation was quiet but not non-existent.


That being said, none of it was directed her way. She had no desire to be accused of trying to sneak out, but neither did she announce her departure as she headed out of the common area and toward the Guardian's wing. She had things to think about and if she went home she knew she would just get distracted.

[Aurora]

A nod of understanding to Guru, “Well said, we are capable of great things when we organize. But, like you said, it’s forming that trust.” That was their hurdle, and it was a difficult one to overcome.

Back to the Arrow, “It’s not something that comes up very often in conversation.” But she was becoming more comfortable with letting others know about it. “I suppose it’s because I just feel it’s something that we should all be doing, contributing. And one should not need praise to do it, it should just be something we do. If you need praise to do it, then I feel you are doing it for the wrong reasons. But that is simply my opinion on it.” Take it for that, an opinion.

Shaking her head, “No, so long as the Charter is in place, and we have a Hierarch, then we can have the other positions filled as needed. And I agree, there are many capable people within the Consilium for such roles. But the Hierarch has proven himself to be capable of making wise decisions thus far, and I have no doubt he will choose who he feels will best fill the role to the best of their abilities.” She had faith in Chambers, he had proven himself trustworthy and wise. “Oh, of course. I’m sure when someone is selected, an announcement will be made. Plus, I wouldn't leave you in the dark as your Councilor about anything like that.” Another nod, “He might not, but I think you should put your name forward if it’s decided we need one. Don’t sell yourself short. While it’s a big role, I think you would be more then capable of fulfilling it.” He just needed the confidence.

“I find myself feeling the same way. I often worry that others are worried about not reaching out to me if they need help with something.” She had become a bit more stand offish over time, but she was always willing to help if needed. "I do know Guru is someone you can always count on if you need someone. He's helped me quite a bit when I've needed to just vent and get some good advice."

And as the day passes final words are exchanged as the mages depart back into the city, their order wings or loiter longer around the circle lost in their own business.
