(2503) Sanctuary

[Chambers]

Well the day had taken a more serious turn then expected. "I would speak to him Aurora but he is a hard one to get a hold of." The number of private conversations he had with the Obrimos counted exactly one. Not that it wasn't a very fruitful conversation. And his gaze briefly lingers up to the clock. Still need to take his advice and check that out. But duty called. "Yes of course we can. Let me know when and where works for you." The deep sigh made it sound serious.

Stranger things and all of that. "I'm glad to hear it Cavendish." And he was Some better kept history was only a good thing. "A cipher? Could be." Mages were a paranoid lot after all.

And then Witch provides some her details. His listens calmly. Ghosts and hunters of some description that's not great. "Thank you Witch." She could have kept it to herself but knowing from a reliable source made it easier. And it answered several questions. "What of the ghost and hunters? How much of this remains to be resolved?" Practical first and foremost. "Corn was strangled to death by his wife and another body found in his hospital room. If the paper is to be believed." Yes a dubious chance to take. "But either way I think something more happened once he was there." That situation didn't develop on its own. "I have no doubt you did all you could all you could." An internal alarm goes off that Guardians are known to lie and kill, something he buries. "If you know anything more, any detail they would be appreciated." It would still get investigate the details and reports compared to the other situations to look for connections, causes a why to the ultimate question of what exactly was going on out there.

[Thirteen]

Thirteen smiled and nodded to Aurora. It sounded like a fun day.

Cavendish's response left her a little surprised, "Interested in... what, bein' a Councilor? Why, are you not?" Was the Silver Ladder trying to get out of a position of authority in the Consilium? That sounded odd to her, and felt suspicious. When it came to the topic of her country's soda, the Acanthus looked curious, "Four what now? Sorry, I don't know what that is, so I can't say."

As for Guru, he was clearly not interested in talking about his car troubles any further, so she let it drop.

Witch dropped her lore bomb and seemed to stun everyone in the courtyard. The Guardian girl had a talent for dramatic timing, that was for certain. "Is this ghost still, er, around?" She'd almost said 'alive' which would have been dumb.

These Awakened deaths were a dark topic that kept cropping up, often. The Enchantress wondered to herself what she had walked into, in this city.

[Aurora]

A possession? Interesting, not uncommon, but not something she had come across all that often either. “Thank you for sharing with us Witch.” Was the Ghost protecting something? It was hard to say without talking with it. “And you did the best you could with what you had. It was a stressful situation.” All she could be expected to do was what she could do. Not everyone was a Thyrsus and not everyone had medical training.

Nodding to Chambers, “He is difficult to get a hold of, but if you let him know it’s important, I’m confident he would make the time.” He’d made the time for her in the past. But Winter had been a bit more, quiet, then usual, maybe she’s reach out and make sure everything was ok. When Chambers agreed to a conversation, “Thank you.” Did she want this conversation? No, but she felt it was time and that he would give her advice she could trust. And that she could trust him to keep it between them.

Imagine that, Corn being strangled by his own wifes hands. That had to be a blow to him, and it wasn’t something she would have wished upon him at all. She knew he loved his family.

“I say if people are thinking of going and poking this ghost, they need to be careful. Ghosts and spirits are not something to casually mess with. Sure, some are not out to cause a whole lot of harm, but others are and if you’re not equipped to handle them, it gets messy. So just use caution and bring someone who can handle them, in case.” Cause they didn’t need a repeat of people dying.

[Witch]

Witch gave a brief shake of her head at Thirteen 's question before answering Chambers verbally.

"The ghost has been handled. The paranormal investigators are another matter." She paused though only to pull the details, "There was a group, if you give me a minute I can put together what I have as far as a dossier on each. I'll warn there isn't much though. Most of the research on them was done by Philip and Corn, I just got the brief run down. I can say that at least one of them - a larger guy who definitely wasn't afraid of the gym was also crushed by the explosion. There was an attempt to set up another with the authorities and remove him from the picture, but I don't know if that actually panned out."

"Probably wouldn't be a bad idea for us to put some eyes on them and what is left. At least two of them got a look at me." Despite her best efforts that is.

"Strangled? By his wife?" Witch sounded surprised, but also there was the faintest hint of relief. Not that he was dead of course, but it was clear with that relief that she had not enjoyed the idea that she had overlooked something in leaving Corn to the EMTs.

Thus when Aurora spoke, there was the faintest smile and a clearer nod of appreciation at the words. She knew her Order's reputation. Heck, given how much she had said in this very building over her time in Sacramento she probably perpetuated it. But it wasn't because she was trying to hide anything on purpose ... she just, didn't feel a need to clutter the air with words. There were always plenty around who did enjoy that.

Now ... all that being said ... she was holding something back that was related to this whole incident. But that's because she wanted to talk to certain people first. In private.

Any humor Cavendish had at bringing up Four Lokos was lost as Witch provides blunt information on what happened to the former Acanthus Councilor and others.

"I'll see which one seems the least painful." Is offered to Guru with half-cheer. Followed by a pained nod to Chambers at his mention of paranoid.

The Ladder shakes his head to Thirteen's question. "I am interested, however we aren't the Pentacle because we ignored people. And Four Lokos can wait, they caused a stir years ago."

"Good to hear that the ghost has been handled. I have no idea of how to deal with those." He shakes his head, the world is vast. "How many paranormal investigators are there left then? I've managed to meet a few people around town."

[Guru]

"Handled? So you don't think it could have possessed...?" He trailed off leaving the rest unsaid but trying to ask the obvious question to see if the two cases were inter-connected, and if it was connected was it a pattern? And his mind had something to latch and hold onto for now a new thought pattern to obsess and distract himself with. The hunters, if they weren't extra legal entities, could be easily handled with a fair dose of planted evidence. Let them take the place of Pheonyx or another mage ideally. Those thoughts had him taking in another deep breath maybe it was just the mention of Winter that had got him thinking that way. He nodded his agreement with Aurora as she thanked Witch, "Beyond the Pale, thank you." This one a personal thank you from Guru who was brought at least a little closure with that news. Was it good? No, but answers helped to ease this Shaman's mind and so answers he sought. "Think we need one that masks the medicine the most." He quipped with Cavendish with a tilt of his head, his exchange with Thirteen actually bringing a smile to the Shamans lips.

[Chambers]

Witch's information taking precedence over more social matters. "Well done for taking care of it." When a Moros said a ghost wasn't going to be a problem anymore he was inclined to trust they knew what they were on about. "The investigators could be a problem yes." Head lowering as he tries to think of a way to handle them. "Oh, yes anything you've got would be very helpful." The issue with planting evidence is the investigator. Or Hunter. Knew it was false and would get out eventually. "We don't just want to kick this problem down the road like a can if we don't have to. And falsifying evidence with the authorities can alert who your going after that someone is moving against them." It could buy time but also play into confirmation bias of the individuals in question. "Even if it did work best we check up on it." Nodding. "Yeah we have a planning meeting coming up to try and address several things that have gone a bit awry of late." Adding stakeout to the list wasn't hard, if they had the numbers to prioritise it all.

[Thirteen]

"I know nothin' of ghosties, so no worries there. I've no interest in pokin' and proddin' the undead." With no understanding of the Death Arcanum, she was hardly equipped to do so, anyway. "Just glad to hear this one wanker won't be a problem."

The Libertine turned her brown-eyed attention back towards Cavendish, "Well, I'm not lookin' for a Council seat. So it's all yours. If you need to discuss Path business or whatever, my number's on the board." Her head jerked towards said corkboard, causing red curls to bounce.

Thirteen then sat back, and idly took out her phone to search for this Four Lokos thing while the conversation around her continued. She kept her ears open, hardly shutting out the others.

[Aurora]

Hearing Witch say the ghost had been handled, she nods, “That’s great.” But then paranormal investigators? “If you need a hand looking into these investigators, I have the time and can help.” Offering to help.

Cavendish asked a good question; just how many investigators were there. One was dead, but there was usually a handful of them. “I don’t think they’re just going to move on from the place where their friend died.” Nope, they’re going to keep poking around.

[Cavendish]

There's a grin at Guru's words despite everything around them. "Some of them were a Decision." Then stillness as Chambers points out some useful things. Planting evidence would cause problems one way or any other wouldn't it.

A gracious nod to Thirteen as she declines. "Same and anytime, I'll make sure my number is up there as well."

"If a friend of mine died strangely I would look into it. Even more so if I thought there was something going on." Cavendish says in agreement with Aurora. "I may have missed it, are these simply paranormal investigators lucked across us or do they know what we are?"
