(2502) Sanctuary

[Asclepius]

As he sat listening to the ongoing conversations, he watched as an figure entered the room giving his silent greeting. “Hey, nice to see you around.” His previous attempt of communication taught him that he might as well wait for the stoic gentleman to approach rather then seek him out for a social chat.

He nodded to Guru's explanation. “Understandable, what matters is you are safe and well. I hope your friend offered you what you were looking for.” His attention grabbed more at the mention of the car. “Oh dude, by all means grab me on the phone whenever I will make time if it is needed.” He was happy that the offer had been brought back up, he had looked forward to the experience.

Aurora's comment is met with a chuckle. “I imagine few people prefer winter over the summer, I personally like both equally, summer is for the fun outgoing activities and winter has its own peaceful and almost romantic feeling. Like a time when people can come together an connect, I am speaking platonically of course, I guess that is because of the holidays. we have Halloween, Christmas, new year, you guys over here have thanksgiving.” He spoke less to Aurora as he could see she was busy with her attention on Guru but more speaking to the room, offering a chance for people to add in their thoughts should they wish.

Chamber's comment on the notes sitting on the shelf was met with a shrug. “Well, knowledge is power, and I will bet money that should the time come, or sometime in the future there will be some mages from each of the order looking back and going. 'Man that chambers guy had the right idea about taking notes for them.' Sometimes the seeds of a tree are not planted for the present, but for the future to bear the fruit.”

He was struggling to hold his laughter at Thirteen's out bursts. “Quite the firecracker aren't you? I can't imagine its fun on your bad side.” He nodded to Thirteen's comment about trouble. “More like it is strapped to your back asleep and decides to wake up at the worst times. Please do, there is no burden on calling for me, I promise. I can only hope you weren't looking to leave all the English back in the UK, as you can see we get everywhere.” He chuckles at the thought.

[Winter]

For his part, he distrusts the written word, the author of a book often has a hidden agenda.
He's not interested in the discussion concerning Corn's punishment, it was the Council's own prerogative, however if Corn had learned anything from the lesson, that was fine and the most important thing after all.

[Guru]

"Not without proper planning and preparation, that's why you don't build foundation on sand. Need a stable base to build from." He offered with a solemn nod, there was still a lot he had to think about certainly. Happy to stick to the lighter topics while Chambers asked the questions' that would have made him uncomfortable. "While that's true, it really is hard to beat the heat." He offered with a smile to Asclepius, "I'll start doing some research into bodies and engines then. I'm not a purist, I'm looking to make something built for purpose." The smile that was there quickly melted as he looked back over his shoulder at Corn as he followed Aurora. Heart sinking further as his thumb started to idly dig into the cuticle of his nails as he followed Aurora. There wasn't anything easy about the situation and it was an area in which he was profoundly out of his depth.


"Not any more or less trouble than we spoke last, sorry I worried everyone. I needed to head east to intercept a mutual friend." A warm smile there though there was a bit of a flush to those cheeks, a flush of embarrassment. It is ok to be a work in progress. He thought with an exhale as the scratching broke and that flush deepened. "I appreciate that and I would do the same - I'd have turned right back around if the SOS went out." Though her demeanor had the tension, though not the red of his face, to diminish once more. "Thanks Aurora, I really appreciate that. Same goes for anyone else too really. I'll have to check the minutes but I'm more curious to what comes down from the Councilors." Smile sticking around as he couldn't help but enjoy watching Winter and Thirteen but he enjoyed watching different chemical reactions. It was his favorite past time after all.

[Corn]

Corn has been in and out of the discussion, biting his lips, thinking his mistakes. To Chambers ' question he answers simply
"After what I saw in the Temenos, I came to the realization that castigation is a step towards forgiveness, forgiveness is a step towards understanding, and understanding is a step towards Wisdom. My sins are many. It is natural to seek castigation. I don't expect all of you to agree, not until you experience what I did. But it is true. You may agree or disagree, but it is true."
Soon after, Corn waved to Skye , Chambers , Guru , Asclepius and made a bow to Aurora . "I am distracted. I have little to add. When the council decides my fate, you know where to find me."

[Aurora]

While she could commend those for caring about Corn and his decision to continue his path of self-destruction, she had to wonder why the push for explanation. He either truly felt remorse for his actions, or he wanted pity and attention. It was a toss-up, and not one she was willing to take a wager on.

A shrug to Thirteen, “No idea, not sure why things need to be more complicated, maybe that’s why my contacts list is as small as it is.” Another shrug.

Glancing to her fellow Shaman, “I just like warm weather, I hate having to bundle up. Nothing to do with holidays, I don’t really celebrate any of them anyways, maybe Halloween if I feel like digging up a costume. I just like the longer, warmer days.” With no family, what was the point of holidays?

Seemed Winter was happy to be quiet today, which was fine. She was used to him only speaking when he had something important to add. She only hoped everything was going ok with him.

Smiling, “Just glad you’re ok and you’re back.” A slight nod of her head. “If you have any questions on the minutes, feel free to ask me or anyone else.” But it wasn’t all that exciting of a meeting.

[Chambers]

He certainly wouldn't judge thirteen for expressing herself about the coded numbers, he had after all chastised both Corn and Philip for doing so when they did it. I might need to take some of those numbers off given I haven't seen certain people of late. "It does make them hard to reach yes." Actually why do I need to solve them, I have both there numbers from when they have contacted me. And taking a pen from the pot he leaves on the shelf will pull out his phone and give the answers to the coded contacts.

As Asclepius quotes part of the Mysterium philosophy to him Chambers is left to wonder if that was intentional. "It is hardly a revolutionary idea. Consilium's across the world keep records of their rulings and percent's to more easily resolve problems." He was ultimately just falling back on good practice and traditional Consilium fundamentals. "If they help us then it will be worth it." And regardless he was glad they were being read. A good a sign as any of those who are actually making efforts in regard to the Consilium.

Winter remained silent and so was left to it. If the man wanted to converse he would.

The astral realms it would seem had taught Corn an important lesson, all be it one far to late to help his family. But he was the man's councillor, the supposed Wiest on the path of Doom in Sacramento and as such had a duty to try and course correct the man off his path of self destruction. "There are different forms of punishment, some are beneficial others and simply indulgence. The first is a path to wisdom the second is more of the same that got you where you are. If you insist on punishing yourself reflect on that and consider punishments of the former instead of the latter." Many paths dress themselves up as wise or show signs that promise some future outcome but so often they are false trails that only compound the situation.

And Aurora making the point of Guru being able to use the minutes was overheard, if not commented on. That they continued to prove useful though was worthwhile validation to his efforts and was silently enjoyed.

[Thirteen]

A red eyebrow was raised at Asclepius, though not in anger. It was more like mild amusement, "Firecracker? Eh, I've been called worse. I'm not shy with my opinions, you're right about that. I'm... something of a bad omen for those on my bad side." A simple shrug. Then, a smirk crept onto her lips, "Wasn't the plan, but aye, you lot do tend to pop up everywhere."

Guru and Corn both appeared to be discussing matters she wasn't privy to, or at least that she lacked context for, so she had nothing to add. She didn't want to butt into their business like that, anyway. The Acanthus did try to pay attention to whatever details they spoke about. You never know what might matter later.

A nod was given to Aurora, but whatever Thirteen might have been about to say was put on hold as Chambers proceeded to decode the mystery phone numbers for everyone. After seeing what the Moros did, she seemed satisfied. Complaining works! The pleased Libertine returned her attention to the female Shaman, "Looks like it just got uncomplicated."

Winter seemed to be ignoring her introduction, which irked her. Brows knitted together. Stubborn, the Enchanter stepped closer, crossed her arms over her chest and kept staring at him as she awaited a response.

[Asclepius]

He smiles and laughs at Guru's response. “Yes that it is, I imagine I a lot of people will think the same, I guess it comes part and parcel of living in this state.” He takes a moment to think while tapping a single finger upon his lips before crossing both arms and looking down for a moment. “Well I suppose a good starting point is to consider what kind of car you want, something that shines nicely with the top down in the sun? Something that purrs when you first start it up, something that you can carry a lot of items in?” Give me something that purrs any day... “I am excited to hear what you have picked out for yourself.”

Corn's words were not met with any reaction or response outwardly. If it helps you sleep at night, but I am sure there are better ways...

Unsurprised with Aurora's admittance to liking warm weather. “ You hate having to bundle up? That is a fair reason as any, but of all the reasons I would have imagined, that one certainly surprised me. You will have to forgive me, but is it not as simple as chucking on a coat and scarf?” He smiled as he continued. “I find myself losing love for the holidays, they felt better in the past but I suppose that is the price for moving over here.” that and well, its hard to love the holidays without the person you want to be with.

He shrugged to Chambers words. “Be that as it may, it is a nice touch to perform such an action for the Consilium, regardless if you down play it or not.” He smiled and gave a thumbs up to chambers. “Every tool made is added to the arsenal later. Everything has a time and place to help, of this I have no doubts.”

A look of relief on his face towards Thirteen as she seemed to have taken the comment well. “It is always nice to work alongside someone that is blunt and to the point, you always know where you stand with them. A bad omen? I like that.” He returned a laugh with his hands on his hips and his head shaking side to side, looking down at the floor for a moment. “What can we say, the British empire had its fingers in a lot of pies back in the day.”

[Salem]

A birdie had told him that he needed to be more visible, more seen, more involved. He couldn't find a valid argument against it and so here was Salem. He walked into the Circle, looking around as he walks. He's dressed in a pair of black jeans and a graphic t-shirt.

He looks around amongst the others gathered. He nods over to the Necromancer Councilor, "Chambers. How's it going?"

A new face catches his eye, that shock of curly red hair is hard to miss and he makes his way over to the Enchanter, extending a hand. "Hello there. I'm Salem, Warlock Councilor and of the Free Council. You are?"

Corn gets a nod of greeting and a look over. The man seems to have changed more and more over the past few months and not for the better.

He gives a smile and a nod over to the Shaman Councilor, "Aurora."

"Asclepius, how's it going?" he says to the Arrow.

Guru gets a nod, remembering his face, but also missing it at the last gathering.

Last, but not least, the Guardian gets a nod of his head, "Winter. Always nice to see you."

[Winter]

"Thanks, likewise", he addresses the greetings. "So, the punishment should be beneficial to the punished and at the same time it shouldn't made the group weaker", he chips in.
