The Church's basement community room bustled with activity.
Dex huddles over a flimsy table and an unfolded sheet of paper. The ink on it shifts as he and the others make last minute adjustments to their plans.
Several of the Apostates had gotten the right idea and were staying home tonight. One was apparently coming from out of town. Two of them who had been expected to stick together were now going alone and needed a chaperon.
They had marked an alley between two of the largest of the parties as the perfect spot for an ambush away from Sleeper eyes. A decent option for the Neidan when they get here.
It's still early of course, but people are rightfully getting anxious, Dex needed to be ready for them.

"Tonight, you can call me bait, point man, whatever. The goal is for you guys to keep the other apostates together, and make sure I'm mostly alone at all times. We have to lure them to me. Which means, though I will be alone, it is imperative that I always be in eye shot of at least two other Arrows."
The nervousness was beginning to set in. In all fishing instances, the bait never came out saying "boy, that was a great idea."

Kai looks at Makail "despite my current appearance, we are looking for a specific type of predator, though I'm sure anyone would love to kick my ass right now. Mainly, the banishers who have been attacking apostates or lone mages. The current state of affairs is completely unacceptable"

Dex tries to give the new arrival the short story.
"This city's been under attack by a Banisher cult for a long time now. They run guerrilla strikes against any sorcerer they can catch alone and defenseless. They've been hitting the Apostates hardest, a few have been killed now."
"Tonight's a dangerous night. The university is having some huge party, and if those Banishers are going to hit again, tonight is the time. Most of us will be watching over Apostates, making sure that they're safe and never alone."
"And then a few of us, these three actually, will set up a trap. If you take a look, these three alleys here are all excellent choices. Confined, fairly easy access to the upper floors of the building, out of sight, and right smack between what we've been told are the biggest 'parties' of the night."
Dex pauses and realizes that he's talking more to the Neidan now than Mikhail.
"I'm sure you'd like to check the map and do a little scouting to see if there is someplace you feel is ideal. We just felt it was best to present some options. Nothing's changed about your end of the plan, so don't worry."

"Sounds like a good plan. Just point me to where you want me and I'll make sure they stay safe until the operation is complete."

Ankh decides she may as well get into "costume" herself. She begins to chant in Atlantian, sounding a great deal like West, but with a femanine touch.
Bright threads of color begin to wave around her body, as the vulgar magic starts to respond to her casting.

The bright threads enfold her entirely in color, and then, in a flash of light they are gone. Standing where Ankh used to be is now an Perguine Falcon.
Spreading her wings and taking flight for a moment, Ankh flies over to West and lands on his shoulder.
'All right, now I am ready.' She says to them.

Make sure that none of them leave alone, and make sure that wherever they're going there's people, our people."
"We'll keep tabs on everyone, if reassigning you becomes necessary, be ready to move. And while you're there try to keep out of the way if possible, we don't want to call more attention to ourselves than we have to."
Not just a few are impressed by the transformation. Taking the form of an animal is no easy feat.

West watched the spell with something akin to wonder and delight. Most of his Arcana's effects were either unseen to the naked eye, or manipulating what was... not changing things. He almost flinched as she flew at him and landed on his shoulder, but the weight became oddly comfortable.
He glanced at the talons and made a mental note to try not to say anything stupid.
"Let's her have her do a flyover and let us know what she sees from the air while we compare it to the map... there may be something important she notices that may influence where we do this," West suggests.

"At least you get to be an eagle. The Neidan went to Sacramento and all I got was this lousy emo."

Kai looks at West and Ankh, obviously a little nervous. "You ready?" he nods to West. "Ankh, if you can cast spells and get away with it if shit hits the fan, then do, otherwise your secondary mission should be information gathering I think. Any thoughts?"

Dex nods to Kai, then to everyone else
"Everyone knows their positions. Look sharp. They will probably try to run until they figure they are cornered, and we have no idea exactly what they are capable of once they start. Everyone ready?"

Ankh gave West and Kai a look, then a small chirp before she took flight.
She rose above the building and circled a few times before she began to fly around the campus, looking for anything that might seem out of place.
