As Ankh heads to the dance floor she takes a long pull of her drink.
Most depressed Acanthus I've ever met. She thinks, as the alcohol slides down her throat, making her slightly light headed. It made her sad really, to think that someone with as much potential as West has been so broken. You don't fix broken souls girl, you fix broken bodies. Just leave it alone.
Then she hears West's voice in her head, and it startles her so much she almost spills her drink on some guy on the dance floor.
"Shit. Sorry! Guess I just can't walk tonight." She says to assauge the guy before he gets all pissy about it.
She turns and faces West, giving him a solid nod of acknowledgement.
Does Kai know he needs a babysitter? She wonders, before going back to her dancing.

West turned back to Brenda and Kai, and watched the other Mages. Ironic that he had enough power to ash that Thyrsus that had/would/didn't come up to him in a heartbeat, but that same power seemed to keep him from ever having a normal evening. Maybe that isn't what stops me.
He pulled threads of Prime together, using them as the warp, and Fate as the weft, and wrapped the weave in Time. Finishing his drink, he pushed at the DJ, who felt the sudden urge to play Pink's "Don't Let Me Get Me." Club enough to be on hand, slow enough he didn't have to do that crazy stuff. And it fit.
He approached Ankh and gave her a questioning look to see if she wanted to dance.

Kai's spell falls apart before it reaches the woman, unraveled as soon as it's formed.
West immediately felt his spell's trigger activate, and sighed. Holding a finger up to excuse himself with a frustrated look, West leaves Ankh and approaches the table.
"Hey," he says to Kai, "Didn't I just ask you to keep this civil? If you want to do anything other than talk, you need to take it somewhere else."
He was trying to keep it cool, since Kai was obviously agitated, but baby-sitting the man was getting old, fast.

Ankh walks over to the table, watching the woman walk away.
"Do we need to follow her?" She asks. She knows there is something going on between Kai and West, but she doesn't really care at this point. Kai's obsession with this woman and what she is needed to be resolved. Then, maybe things could go back to normal. Ot, as normal as it gets when you're a willwoker.

West looked at Ankh and Kai, and spoke in a low voice, "Well, you played exorcist and rocked the club with your Nimbus... she fell over dying... that table of Mages over there, including a Kruegan, all scattered. That's a far as we got... but you need to think about what the fuck you're doing. We would have ended up taking orders from Vex, Magister Undrichmann would have been humiliated, and Guardians would have been up in your... buddy... Davis' shit. For what? To set whatever that is free to find a new host and start over?"
West shook his head, "Can we just let this go? Just get up tomorrow and do what we're told... like we've always done?"

Ankh sighs and shakes her head. "You two figure this out. I'll be right back."
She follows the woman through the crowd and catches up with her. Tapping her on the shoulder she waits until the woman turns around and then gives her a friendly smile. "Hi, I don't mean to be a pain here but uh, you do realize that you cannot have a child with a dead body right? I mean, I know your biological clock may be ticking and all, but hers stopped a while ago. Maybe, you should try barganning with someone who can give you what you want. Like me."
She tries to be as polite and genial as she possibly can. She sees the spirit is obviously hurting and does genuinly want to help. "So, why don't you tell me what it is your looking for and I will see if I can help you?"

Ankh stares at the woman/spirit. The story tugged at her heart and made her suddenly very sad. She was alone in this world herself, so alone. She knew what the lonliness was like and it ate at your soul, tried to consume you, until there was nothing but a hollow shell of a person left.
"I am very sorry she left you alone. And I am very sorry my friend treated you with such suspicion. You just have a tendency to stand out to us and we were curious about you. Please, accept my apology."
She was not sure how to help the spirit really. The woman wanted a child, but she needed to relearn how to be properly human before that could happen or she would lose the child during the pregnancy.
"Maybe I can help you. You do not act and speak like a normal person. If you wish to have a child, you must learn to be human again. Maybe I can teach you how to do that? Otherwise the child may suffer when you get the occasion to be pregnant."

Ankh stopped breathing for a moment, as all the air was forced out of her lungs by what this thing just said. Her first instinct was to kill her, right here right now. But she couldn't. This was a public place and West would never forgive her. She could not diappoint him.
"I would love to attend the ocasion." She said in a breathy voice, trying to be genial. "Can I have your number or somethiong? So we can keep in contact, in case you need any help of course. I mean, there are a lot of factors involved in having a child, you know. You must first find a suitable man who is willing to sire the child. Then, the body must carry the child for nine months. That is a very difficult time to go through alone."
I will not kill her. I will not disappoint West. I will not allow my emotions to control me. I will not disappoint West. She continued to repeat these phrases over and over again in her head in an effort to control herself.

"Obviously, they haven't come across real bogeymen yet. A little bit of fear on their part won't be a bad thing. It will hopefully keep them in line, unless their superiors give them a direct order to cross us. I think this weekend will be a huge determining factor on the role we will play to them.
I do want their respect as well, not just their fear. But I think we are the exceptions. We've seen a lot of action. Probably more than anyone should see in a lifetime."
Kai looks down a little
"I'm losing touch West. The whole time I was on my date, it meant nothing. She was beautiful, and I couldn't stand to be there with the idle banter. It drove me nuts. And how could I? Knowing the world around us, how can this not be the inevitable. I feel like a stripper who isn't on drugs yet or a whore. The end result is inevitable."

Ankh sighs in relief. "Yes yes, eating is very bad. It would be much better to give. If necessary I will take the child and raise it as my own. Just please do not eat the child. I will take it, I give you my word."
Ankh looks around, seeing if West and Kai are close enough to hear this. She knew West would have kittens, but she didn't care. If taking the child would save it's like, assuming the spirit could even get to that point, then she would do whatever it took. The rest of them be dammed. A child's life is more important then any stupid Mage law or Order as far as she was concerned.

West thought about Kai's words. It was good to hear him admit it. He knew that Kai wasn't one for the Goetic arts or even confronting his daimon. He also knew that he wasn't great at giving personal advice.
"You know," he finally said, "if we stop caring about them, because of what we can do, we're repeating the arrogance of the Exarchs. You need to find something to ground yourself... something to care about... maybe we've both been making the same mistake that having a purpose was enough."
West fell silent, hoping he hadn't found another occasion to say the wrong thing.
