While the professionals huddled around the girl, Kutya'i moved over to a spirit that smelled of beer and sweat and unwise sex, it shimmered in a way that made him think of beer goggles. He lapses into spanish and asks it -¿Qué depredador estaba aquí en sus de alimentación?*, which the magic translated into the spirits native shattered Sumerian-like tongue.

Aaaaand this is why he hated spirits. What little sense they made only applied to them. Completely unimpressed with Mr Suit and company, he heads towards the exit of the club, hoping to catch the other Mystagogues before they get away.

How'd he know? Then he caught on. He would have to find out what had happened on the alternate timeline

"Whoa. Thank God, I can't believe I just chewed out one of the Honor duel guys..." Phrym exclaims in relief as West turns his attention elsewhere. Glad to see more people she knows, she waves down Rune and Kutya'i.
"Hey Rune, hey Kutya'i! Come on, grab a glass and a beer. It's called the Optimator, it's crazy good."

'Brenda' leans forward.
"Now it is you who is playing games. I ask you only to be as honest as you expect me to be with you. And you do not decide to tell me what it is that makes you strange, so you must expect me to respond in kind."
"Let's just say that I can see the world around me, yes?"
"Mr. Friend of this man, this one is treating me with terrible rudeness. Is it not an ugly thing for him to invite me here, and then sully his hospitality by accosting me so?"

The bartender grabs a coke and hands it to Ankh. There is a moment of confusion, and then:

West looked at Brenda, then back at Kai. "Nothing happens here tonight, ok? Just trust me." He looked back at Kaa and Phrymides, who had friends arriving, then glanced over at the dance floor.
He had just looked like a complete ass, and apparently the Kruegans were telling anyone who would listen that the Neidans went around bullying people.
Kai didn't seem to care about anything but what was in front of him, not even bothering to consider the humiliation that Magister Undrichmann would face or the possibility of the Neidans being disbanded or being placed under Vex.
Sighing, he patted Kai on the shoulder and went up to the bar. He could really use a drink, all things considered. And why was Ankh here? He sagged into a stool, feeling slightly empty from having burned through his reserves like that.
After getting his drink, he turned back in the stool to watch Kai and 'Brenda'. The icy vodka and tonic was like a bottle of water after a marathon.

Ankh comes over to West at the bar. She smiles at him over the rim of her soda glass. Leaning in close, she inclines her head toward where Kai and the strange woman are sitting.
"There is no consciousness in that body. No mind. It's like everything that used to make her a person is gone. I don't know what is taking it's place, nor can I tap into it to find out. But the person that she used to be before she was taken over is completely gone. I just thought I would let you know."
She turns back around to face the crowd and watches the people moving on the dance floor as she leans against the bar.

West nodded, replying absentmindedly, "Yes... I'm under the impression it's a Spirit that's 'riding' the body. We'd probably have to ask the Spirit where the Mind is, if it still exists. You might have better luck with Spirit Tongue... but I'm not sure if this the right place for something like that."
West finished his drink and slid the glass onto the bar.
"Definitely not the right time."
Not really knowing what to say, he motioned towards the table with Kaa and the others, "I found some Mystagogues and another Arrow."

Ankh looked over at the table, unenthused at the prospect of meeting other Mages. "Well, I guess it's good to know there are more of us around."
She faltered in what else to say. The silence between them was not uncomfortable, but tense, as if there were a number of things unsaid between them. She didn't know what to do about it, but she was tired of it.
She finished her soda and put the glass on the bar. She turned to West, giving him her full attention.
"Do we need to talk about anything? Because this seems really awkward and I would prefer if it wasn't. I'm sorry for being so blunt, but I don't know any other way to ask." She smiled, trying to soften the blow of her words. West was destrought, and she wanted to know why. Something had gotten under his skin, and the only way she could try and help was if she knew what was wrong.

Kutya'i brightened up when he saw Phrymides and some other mages he didn't know all that well. He moved that way to meet up with everyone and introduce himself. "Hey everybody!" He pulls up a chair, and grabs a drink. "Wow. This is good. I might just try to learn how to make it myself someday. I'm Kutya'i, I got in from Vegas a couple of days ago, been spending most of my time studying up on some things at the museum, so I haven't done a lot of hobnobbing yet." Kutya'i shakes hands with anyone that is willing. "I'm staying at the hotel with some others, but since I keep odd hours I haven't come across them yet."

The others at the table raise their glasses in hello, and the circle goes 'round in introduction.

((Be careful of using OOC knowledge. Remember that everything after West shifted back essentially never happened. West hasn't mentioned to anyone that this is a Spirit ridden puppet yet. Ankh figured it out because she rocked out some Thrysus Mage sight before. I think you're OK having figured out that she's a puppet, but you hadn't come to the conclusion before that her mind is gone.))

"Huh?" West turns to Ankh. "No... no. I just had to... 'fix' something that happened. Something I really don't like to do... like that." Sighing, he continued, keeping an eye on Kai, "I just, ah, rewound Time a little. What would have happened was... unacceptable. It wouldn't have mattered if it weren't for you and Undrichmann..."
Almost to himself now, he says, "It just always makes me wonder about the things that never were, or should have been. Or could have been. Or won't ever be." West pauses, and then looks at her. "Please don't be too disappointed if you can't 'fix' me."
He turns back to Brenda and Kai as their conversation seems to become more tense, and peripherally notices Kutya'i and Rune join the others, with a slight pang of jealousy at how easily they integrate themselves into the group. West's hands unconsciously form the beginning of a Mudra as he watches Brenda and Kai.
I should have just asked her if she wanted to dance.

Ankh stares at West in utter astonishment. The flash of anger hit her with so much force she was literally speechless for more then a full minute. She thought about saying something rude, opened her mouth, closed it. No, rude would just make the situation worse.
Instead, she leans over the bar and flags the bar tender down. "Can I get a cranberry and vodka please?" She asks in a very tight voice.
While she waits for her drink, she finally had the presence of mind to give her attention back to West.
"I am not interested in 'fixing' you, sir." She says, in a clam and collected voice. "I am merely trying to understand you. However, I don't think that will be poossible either. So, I will simply stop trying."
After getting her drink, Ankh turns once again to face West. "I'm going to go back to the dance floor. Let me know if you need me for anything." She says with a smile, as if a switch had been flipped in her head and West was talking to a completely different girl. She turns and heads back onto the dance floor.

West watched her leave, irritated that he had to babysit Brenda and Kai. Great. Looks like I managed to say the wrong thing... again. He wove threads of Mind to reach out to her, but they came apart against her determination. Sigh. He tried again, before she was lost in the crowd of bodies.
It's things like that l really want to turn the clock back on. Sorry for the spell, but I can't leave Kai.
Satisfied she 'heard' him, he lets the spell unravel and goes back to watching Brenda and Kai, motioning to the bartender for another drink.
