(Witch House) Recurring Dreams

"Right. The dreams. Something in the water, I wager." Had some sarcasm slipped there? This guy was all kinds of frustrating. I didn't drop college for this bullshit. "When was the last time you went out? Vitamin D, human interaction, all that jazz."

They weren't getting lucky enough that this was just a bizarre case of insomnia; the Beast wasn't so out of the loop that the election had passed him by. But he wondered whether they could get him out, and if so what would happen. Then a thought occurred to him and the irrational fear from earlier returned, growing steadily until it threatened to burst out in full force. They still hadn't tried going out themselves. Would that be enough to make the dreams stop or...?

"Excuse us a minute?" He signaled to Mhairi and, standing at the exit but still in view of the others, he whispered close to her ear. "Never knew the woman, but somehow I don't think Mrs. Rue would've been the type to take in random nerds. But if he's saying the truth, and she promised no one would bother him... What did she put in his water?"

[Mhairi Ankaa]

"Just-ah really messed up dreams." Mhairi answers Erich Zahn at little distracted, because the man said was sort of off. Or more then just 'sort of'.

As far as she knew Betony Rue lived in Edna's, and Trump was none of those words.

"Morgan, take care of yourself first, before you try anything else." Turning to Erich Zahn, "You could take the couch, it might be better then that tiny room up in the attic."

About to continue, she closes her mouth as Nathan takes her aside.

"Never met her, but from what I heard she was really scary, and probably put something in his water." Shaking her head, "Something is worse the weird. I don't know if we can leave, and I think something's messing with time. Or...when I tried to wake up, I didn't. Maybe there's an object or an Oneiromancer...stronger then I, at work here...All I know is whatever he's messing with, is messing with our Clarity."

This guy is clearly living in an alternate reality. Alex just hopes it's not their reality now.

"So if there's some kind of maintenance problem... and this certainly sounds like one... we should call somebody, right? The owner must have some way for you to contact her, or her manager at least. Is there a number we can call? An e-mail address or a website?"

Alex feels for the phone in his pocket but leaves it in there for the moment. He has a sinking feeling that he may have a hard time getting a signal...

[Morgan Bellanar]

No Rip van Winkle, thats good...Wait, does he think the Apple guy is president? It is...some old dood that those college girls hate. The house salesman with bad hair. Real estate business, as far as Morgan grasped, meant houses. Why would Betony let someone like Erich stay? Morgan's relationship with the former witch queen would best be described as terror induced loyalty but incompetent was never a term she'd use for Betony.

"Uh...right Mhairi, heh. Oh, and yay Erich thine trouble may be the room. It did, uh, smell odd. Could be, heh, mold messing up ye head," Morgan nodded to Mhairi before nodding more rapidly at the suggestion of Erich relocating.

Seriously, the norman's research set off all kinds of alarm bells when she looked at it. Best to have him elsewhere. The hairs on the back of her neck were still twitchy.

Morgan didn't think Betony or the other old guard had left forwarding contact. She was also very tempted to just run outside, instinct demanded she have escape routes. Maybe not run, "Imma look at the roof," she holds up both arms into an "X" shape, "nay climb Mhairi. Solely observe it from the heh ground for now."

Morgan tries to go into the back yard to do just that.

Hearing this Betony lived out of town and only stopped by once a month makes her wonder why no one else had seen her? If she was here once a month, how could no one else have not seen her?

“Uh, when was the last time she was here?” cause again, why didn’t anyone else see or hear her?! Just what the hell was going on…things were getting weirder and weirder…if that was possible, “Oh, I haven’t dreamed about bugs. And I don’t really remember,” not true, but she wasn’t giving too much to this guy. “but I’d remember if there had been bugs.” Cause gross!

Something in the water? The comment made her hold her coffee cup out and look at it. Surely the heat required to make coffee would burn off anything added. Wouldn’t it? Even though she heard the sarcasm in his voice, she still put her cup down, not really wanting it anymore.

Then Alex makes some great points, surely there was a way to get in touch with this Betony chick, or whoever did maintenance.

When Morgan mentions going outside to observe the roof, Sera pushes herself off the counter, “I’ll join you.” She offers and follows the Raccoon. Not going alone thing, plus she wanted to pick her brain out of earshot of the human.

Erich Zahn fumbles for his wallet and extracts a slip of paper, which he slides across the table toward Alex.

"She'll vouch for me," he said with a sniff.

Meanwhile Sera and Morgan took the opportunity to slip outside. The door opened easily and the ventured into the back yard. The sun beat down pleasantly and a gentle breeze tugged at their brows and toyed with the new growth in the trees. Everything was as it should be and in its proper place. Sounds of the street, muffled, filtered through to their backyard haven.

The roof was exactly as it should be.

A little attic window winked evilly from under the eaves.

Alex thanks Erich and takes the paper. He assumes it will have a phone number or an e-mail address... He finally pulls out his phone, checks it for a signal and then looks down at the paper...

A sudden chime errupted from Nathan's pocket, and with a harried look on his face, the Autumnal Hunterheart hurried away to answer the phone call...

Nathan Griffin exits the Scene, and is being moved to inactive.

[Mhairi Ankaa]

The girls leave, they could leave, passing Nathan as his phone pulls him away from the mystical problem at hand.

"It's not that we don't think she wouldn't vouch for you or anything....it's just weird that she didn't tell me about you. Since I'm the new manager." Mhairi tells Erich Zahn as Alex pulls the paper towards him. Mhairi frowns at it, if this muggle knew how to get into contact with the Former Queen of Fear, when no one in the Freehold could...Mhairi didn't know, but it wasn't good. "Betony Rue, left. Sometime last year, no one's seen her since."

[Morgan Bellanar]

The first thing Morgan did was sigh in relief. It was better being outside. Second was take a look at the roof to keep up appearances.

"Huh," she didn't recall the window looking so...sinister before. "Tis odd. Wonder if glamour leaking like with that spring...Autumn so heh that'd explain bad vibes," she turned to Sera, "Sera? Doth that norman seem...off to ye too? Quite a bit heh he said felt wrong," she shook her head with a grimace, "I shalt nary even start with heh how freaky his math was to look at. Or Betony."
