Ah fuck. Yeah, she wasn't going to be able to hold that for any distinct period of time, that was obnoxious. "... we're gonna have to just move along with this. That would've been efficient if I could hold it," she sighed heavily. Well, at least this way she wouldn't have them talking in her head while she was trying to question people... that, at least, was a blessing.

"There are two things that make me think he isn't a cop," Mandy stated quietly to the group. "For one thing, an officer would have meant that there likely would've been a more detailed report on the event--" ah why was she bothering? Let them think whatever they'd like. Closing out ideas was liable to just minimize their attempts at much of anything... "Never mind," she finally stated. "Let's just get this done, shall we?"

There was another thing that was rankling on her nerves, though. The man had been electrocuted - he'd ended up dead. There were observers. Clearly something had actually happened. There was no disbelief. The lack of disbelief... that concerned her. Were the witnesses sleepwalkers? Newly Awakened who had no idea of what ought to be happening? If lighting had, according to them, come from the man's hands... then odds were that they weren't dealing with Sleepers. That there was a big part of the reason she had no desire to go in guns blazing - or to deal with it in that manner.

This was going to be a headache on it's own. Not having Cut's running monologue in her mind while she dealt with it was going to be... beneficial.

He liked the recon idea, but it closed some doors. If he and Nous went snooping while Mandy and Lycus did their thing, then it might come up later. They didn't know who was who, at this point.

Cops? Yeah. He still thought they were involved. 'We'. 'Checks'. So five-oh. Just maybe not Barton.

"You got the show," he said, fishing out his phone and holding it up. "Guess I'll keep an eye on this?"

Kind of sucked. That whole mind-reading thing would have been hella useful.

And... maybe less boring. Getting stuck on the defense bench while the offense was on the field was No Fun.

She feels late to the party, even if she's been standing there the whole time, eyes open and fate protected. "If the brain talking thing doesn't work, just call my phone and I'll put my end on mute so we can listen to what you're doing. It's not fancy, but at least we'll be in touch in one direction. And you can drop info that we need to know well enough."

She's sharper today, if slightly less sharply dressed. Going for the journalist look she's wearing clothes that are of poor quality and about three years old. The elbows on the jacket just a little worn, she pulls out her phone ready to dial.

"We should find a tree to loiter under while they're doing their thing." She looks around for the best spot to wait for her next step. Waiting sucks, and not seeing how everything is connected sucks even more. So she aims to take a look when she gets under the tree.

Her eyes open to fate and the interconnectedness of all things, she looks around for the people in the neighborhood to see how people are connected to the things around them, and in particular, how they're connected to the place the man was electrocuted.

Mandy sighed a bit, casting a glance to her own phone before nodding. Fucking phones. There were too many ways to overhear what was going on over a phone. She didn't particularly like the notion.

Making her way in, barely mindful of Autolycus' presence as she watched those around her warily. There were a few floors to choose from... a few apartments... At this time of day, those they sought could just as easily be at work as at home, too, which she hadn't considered. The heat was definitely getting to her - it became difficult to concentrate, so she was thankful that it was a bit cooler inside. Now it was just a matter of... a little luck.

"I can loiter. Totally," Cut agreed.

He could, too. Semi pro. The secret to loitering? Not giving a damn that you were loitering and had nothing to do. His khakis, tennies, and rumpled oxford paired well with @Nous ' outfit, and he leisured along beside her.

"So, what was that weird look? Before? When I asked if you were in 'the business'?"

He wasn't totally loitering. He kept his eyes open, too. Because Eyes, yo.

"Cool. Keep us updated?" He hands over his number to everyone, then puts his phone on vibrate in case they text him. He falls in behind his partner as they approach the building.

Auto knew a lot of things and one of those was that he was pretty confident that Mandy wasn't the kind of person you just small talked with. During or outside a case. So he's pretty confident that she doesn't want to hear about how something he does is google shadow names of people he meets so he can get definitions to see if they tell him anything about the person. Amanda, for example, means 'Worthy of being loved'. He'd like to ask if that means something, or if maybe Mandy was her cat when she was six. It's a shame, he'd like to have that conversation with her. He's always found it an interesting one.

He looks into the lobby to see if there's anyone inside and checks the door, to see if it's locked.

Mandy watched him before chuckling absently to herself. "It doesn't usually work that way," she pointed out before looking to the ringer a moment and pulling out her phone. "Give me just a sec." It was a quick google search on a really slow phone, but... googling the apartment manager wasn't a bad way to do this. Especially if...

A quick glance around happened as she sought out any signs that might indicate whether or not there were vacancies to be had in the building, though even as she did Mandy winced and brushed a little sweat out of her eyes. Shit it was hot. But if they could find some way to pose, for this part at least, as people coming to check out a place...
