Thirteen quickly notes the discrepancy? the missing piece? The women being the one, the only singular in a situation of multiples. A interesting connection, but now how are they connected? And true to form she has completed the days mission and task the leyline is indeed mapped successfully and without incident. This encounter falls squarely under the extra category, something else a chance to acquire, to learn. to help. Whatever the enchantress' ideology sees fit to call it. A situation that if magic is involved then yes prime based investigations would likely be a fruitful avenue to explore by themselves or as a substitute for the arcana she is yet to access.

Thirteen can roll int+occult to see if she knows or recalls anything that could be of use.

Looking at the radio under his forces sight it is dark, empty, nothing, dead. He could turn it on and see if that remains the same.

As for the how, well it is clearly a battery powered radio. It has a compartment for them, it has electronics and mechanisms that should by all accounts require electricity. It does not have any batteries or a plug. So the device must be drawing and converting power or energy from another source to enable it's function. For the on button and controls to be operational at any given moment it must either do so constantly or the on switch itself causes this reaction to occur. What sources of power are there? Well as the Warlock postulates the human body does indeed produce electricity, and much more energy besides. Thermal from the touch of a finger on the on button is possible. Gravitational potential energy is a constant of course. Kinetic seems unlikely as the radio is not granted to be in motion constantly. It could drain chemically stored power from other nearby devices possibly like a mechanical leech. It is not reacting to sound or light exposure at the moment so they seem less likely. It might even have a remote power source it is tapped into. The options are vast and some more likely then others but the conclusion is, this device must ne and is either getting power from somewhere or converting it when needed.

What do the numbers mean? One, two, four, five, six and eight? Only two and five are prime numbers. They don't double every time. They don't add or multiply in sequence. All together they sum up to twenty-six, but that doesn't mean anything to her. The Highlander wasn't bad at puzzles, but the math isn't mathing here.

She snapped out of her reverie and looked at Salem, then nodded. "Okay. Check out the radio all you want, just be careful with it. I'm goin' to examine the ley line a little deeper."

With that, Thirteen stepped outside the car and pulled out her phone. With her Paths of Power spell up, she could still perceive the ley line, and she focused on it though her phone camera. Pairing the Prime spell with her Mage Sight, she tried to Scrutinize the river of Mana in the sky. Hallows had a Resonance, and if ley lines did too, it might be good to see if it matched this 'frequency' Resonance the Warlock had found.

Scrutiny: 5 successes

Looking to find the Resonance of the Ley Line, if there is any.

Barring that, the Acanthus also racked her brain for any other data that might be useful. You never know.

Salem turns the device over in hands a few times, not yet turning it on as he puzzles through the different possibilities of where it could be drawing power from. He realizes before too long that he's gonna have to turn it on if he really wants to get the answer. The Enchanter's words pull him out of his own bit of reverie and he nods. "I will. You be safe too." He watches her step out of his vehicle, closing the door behind herself and he looks around to check that no one is close as he starts whispering low in High Speech as he starts to picture an Imago of protection. There's a possibility that this thing is what's causing the saleswoman's headaches and he needs to be careful. He figures this thing might try to latch onto his mind, so let's give it a bit of something to have to fight through first.

Mental Shield (1 success)

He intones words of protection and shielding as he feels the spell be willed into being, a Mental Shield helping to guard his mind from outside influence. With this bit of protection in place and his two current mage sights still active, he moves to turn on the radio, rolling his finger over the power button in hopes of learning something useful but not dangerous. In other words: good old-fashioned hubris.

Stepping out of the car Thirteen using her phone as cover gives the ley line a good hard look to scrutinise it's resonance. A task she finds surprisingly easy the layers of resonance of something already so immaterial and magical more readily readable then dense objects or that which floats freely. Her fate sight in conjunction with paths power making the reading quite possible. First and foremost she becomes awareness the leyline seems to read like a frequency but more specifically the frequency numbers 28, 46, and 55.

Wracking her brain for what she knows about useful and possible supernatural phenomena the ley line itself is inspiring! Where two or more cross a node is create and free energy is generate for those who know how to tap into it. A node of two leylines can power a reasonable sized room give or take. Now there is only one here and no node, but the radio is a lot smaller then a room, maybe it is able to draw on or tap into the ambident energy source blazing overhead?

Salem casts his spell in preparation, strengths his mind and mental fortitude against external influence and ... turns of the radio. It blares to life. Under his sights the device powers up! Impossible as it should be it does he can see the electricity courses through the devices wires the heat, the energy the sound of a radio station everything is working like it had a battery plugged in.

"And speaking of rent it certainly isn't what it was as said best by our next number on absolute radio, we have the 60's classic King of the road by Rodger Miller." And the song begins to play.

So the Psychonaut was right. There was a definitive 'frequency' vibe here. Confirmation is always nice to have. What was surprising, however, was these numbers. More numbers.

"The fook?" she muttered to herself.

Then the realization hit, and she felt stupid. How had she forgotten that? The Lorehouse! Her Order had shown her what nodes could do, but that tidbit had fallen away over time. Tapping into a node like that was still beyond her understanding right now, but she knew it was possible, and it it explained... well, not everything, but one thing.

Snarling more curses under her breath, she made her way back to the Salem's car. Opening the door, the Acanthus stuck her head inside, only to be met with... old music? She'd heard this song before. Not bad, but hardly her type of music. Brown eyes centered on the Warlock as she climbed in and closed the door.

"Nodes! The bloody radio's bein' powered by the ley line itself! There's a techne for harnessin' a node to provide electricity for a place. Free power!" Thirteen actually seemed excited about this now. "I... er, can't do it myself. Yet. But the Free Council, back in Inverness, they had a set up like that. Provided free electricity for their Lorehouse. I damned near forgot!"

She glanced back towards the flea market. "Thing is, at least two ley lines need to touch for a node to exist. I only see the one. But maybe... maybe just this one line is enough to power the radio? Anything bigger would require a node. Oh, and this ley line has that frequency Resonance you were talkin' about... plus more numbers. Bigger ones. Not sure what they mean but..." she paused and looked at the radio. "What station is this thing tuned to? The number of it?"

Salem jumps slightly when the radio turns on. He was hoping it would happen but it's still a bit of a surprise. He watches the energy appear in the device, seemingly from nowhere, powering up the wires, heating up the coils and then sound vibrates out of the speaker at him. It doesn't seem to pulling the energy from anywhere or anything that he can perceive but thankfully, it's also not drawing it from him.

He turns the volume down slightly as he glances over at the door opening. He lifts an eyebrow inquisitively to her as she speaks. He snorts out a small chuckle and nods. "I've heard of that, just didn't realize it could happen "naturally,"" he says, lifting a hand from the radio to curl two fingers in the 'air quotes' motion. "If it is even that.." He ponders for a moment. "I wonder if pulls power within a certain radius or just always pulls power from here... I could see either working. We'll have to experiment." Excellent...

He follows her glance to the flea market and nods. "It might be enough to power it, yeah." He nods. "The resonance I'm sensing might just be a bleed off from the ley line itself..." More numbers? "What are the numbers?" he asks, glancing down at the radio in his hand to give her the answer to her last question.

Indeed the lore house had served Thirteen well that titbit could be used to explain how something so small as device could be powered without a source. Of course when nodes provide power they need to be tapped into, something needs to connect to it. Could the internal of the radio provide answers there?

The radio is tuned to an unusual FM frequency 46.

Salem hits a money question. Leylines do not naturally power technology, it could well the source but much like Thirteen that doesn't explain the how of the radio. But now with the radio active and not causing any noticeable change or odd behaviours experimenting was indeed becoming a more likely option.
