Duel: Aurora VS Chambers

[Aurora]

The corners of her mouth pull up slightly as her attack finds its target, but it wasn’t one of pride. It was one of landing a successful hit. It was her first Duel after all. Knowing it was against an opponent of lesser power did not stroke any ego she may have.


While she was expecting an attack, Chambers went for something unexpected. As paintings and hieroglyphs appear, shifting and changing around the Hierarch, no attack came.


Interesting and curious. But she wasn’t about to let up, and unleashes another attack. The clawed arm was brought up to her mouth and she blows into it, unleashing a swarm of locust that envelops Chambers.

The power focused in fate, following its unknowable yet set path guided him nearly unarmed through the swarm of biting insects, nearly but not entirely as some manage to find purchase continuing to wear him down. But he was still in the fight which he surely owes to the defensive play.


Not for much longer that was clear even his bolstered defenses only slowed the pace at which he was losing ground, at this rate the next attack would settle this one way or another so best give it all he had. Mustering his focus his will to give all he had the Moros attacks again.


The book of prophecy is cast towards the shaman bursting into near infinite pages, sweeping into a vortex around Aurora and each of the countless pages displays its own animated vision of ruin, of future wasted and spent, of failed efforts and disastrous endeavors, a cascade of the worst outcomes imaginable.

While it wasn’t a powerful attack, it was pleasing to see some of the locust made it through.


But she had to give Chambers credit, he was holding strong and putting what appeared to be everything into his defenses and attacks. But he had to be tired.


Not that you could tell with the next attack, the pages sweeping around her, her hair coming undone and flying around her in the vortex of near infinite pages. Gray eyes not able to take in all the pictures as the spirits rose around her to fend off the attack, some fading from the sharp edges, some getting pulled into the vision displayed on the pages, but the Shaman shrank back from what she was able to see. Her human hand rising to shield herself.


Shaking her head, trying to erase the visions, she looks to Chambers, and kneels, placing the clawed hand on the floor. As she does, the ground around Chambers feet shifts and breaks as two full grown boa constrictors emerge and begin to coil around his legs and up around his chest, tightening as they did.

[Chambers]

The emerging constrictors put the Moros to the Squeeze and shatter the last of will, chocking out the words. "I'm done. You win." He ends the duel, no reckless pride here but still he collapses to the ground, physically unarmed but completely overwhelmed and exhausted by the Shaman's attacks. He might had lost consciousness for a moment or two before pushing up to one knee while he regains his breath and tries to focus

Chambers calls it, conceding the win to her.


Though it didn’t feel like a win to her.


Dropping her Shield and Sword, her arm returning to normal, she nods and approaches the Hierarch, and holds out a hand, “Well fought, a masterful display.” She could have put on a better show, but Chambers, Chambers had put on one hell of a display.
