Joyeuse settled on the periphery of the group of Mages, awaiting their pathmates with hands folded behind their back.
With luck, this would go quickly. The androgynous Theurge was fairly confident the three of them would reach a consensus amicably and silently went over their arguments in their mind.
He follows the other Obrimos, making as much distance as possible between himself and the drama.
Phoenyx moves across to join her Pathmates, placing her hands behind her back. "And I was hoping this would be a new kind of Concillium in Sacramento," she remarks drily.
"Winter. Joyeuse," She acknowledges them in turn. "We all favour directness - I do not wish to be Councillor again. I intend to turn my focus on the Order, now our numbers are more than two."
The Arrow looks between her fellow Obrimos, waiting for them to speak their intentions. Of course, she knew Joyeuse's having planned accordingly, but it was their right to speak for themselves. It would be a poor councillor that could not do otherwise.
"It will be, our work as a Consilium with the current membership has only just begun," Joyeuse said as Pheonyx voiced her displeasure, "I'm certain that once cooler minds prevail our peers will see the benefits of organization. Most already seem too."
There is a nod as Pheonyx gets to the meat of the matter quickly.
"I appreciate your directness," Joyeuse said, "In which case, in the spirit of transparency I will be blunt. Pheonyx desires to focus on the Adamantine Arrow and, Winter, I'm certain you would prefer to focus on matters concerning the Veil, given our past discussions. I have voiced my desire to foster cooperation between the Orders to you both and I firmly believe the role of Councilor will allow me to work towards that goal while also assisting in the reorganization of our structure. While I am also an Arrow, just as Pheonyx is, my duties are less extensive. I have the time and my residency here in the Circle ensures I am easily available to you both as well as the Greater Consilium."
He shrugs, "Good, then it's settled, you'll be the next Councillor", he nods at the two of them, then he moves his gaze over the larger room, "Looks like your first day on the job is going to be quite busy. I'll be blunt, his story doesn't add up"
Phoenyx nods in agreement with Winter on both counts, first with Joyeuse being Councillor and again with Corn's story. "Congratulations Councillor." That was all that needed to be said. It was a poisoned chalice, but Joyeuse had show to follow rational and logic.
"He has a habit of changing his mind mid-discussion without informing anyone that is what he is doing. I do not think it is deliberately malicious, but he rewords himself so often in one discussion it does not foster trust."
The Talon frowns. "I will not be pursuing Corn's mission. I will be in the Circle to defend other mages from other dangers borne of this event or others." She looks to Joyeuse. "Councillor, I would second Winter's request to investigate. He will keep the Veil intact." By any means, she thinks coldly to herself. Corn's behaviour was becoming too great a risk.
A slight, professional smile hits Joyeuse's lips. The meeting had gone as expected. Given Winter's interests, they had doubted he would be opposed to their ascension to the title, but it was good to know that there was no pushback from the Guardian.
The newly-minted Councilor nods at Winter's words, likewise looking to the greater room.
"My thoughts as well..." they replied, "It is good to see our Path is unified in that regard."
All three Theurges seemed suspicious of Corn, but, in Joy's mind, all of them had good reason to be.
As Pheonyx speaks to add her support for Winter to do his duty, the androgynous Arrow nodded again, shallower this time as they considered the outcomes such an investigation might lead to. It was a dangerous thing to involve oneself with Sleepers to the degree that Corn had. At best, he was in for a very painful lesson. At worst, well... that outcome didn't need to be said.
"I have every intent to lend my support in that regard, Pheonyx," they said, "The Path of the Mighty seems unified in our concerns and I will present as much to the other Councilors."
Looking back to their pathmates, Joyeuse cleared the throat slightly.
"I am grateful for your investment," they said, "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to relay our decision and see if I can't help Chambers and the others get the rest of this meeting underway. My door remains open to you both, should you feel the need to meet soon, please reach out."
Joyeuse returns to the main thread
