His thoughts were on the pipe but in a different manner. He looked around, fingers digging into his scalp as he couldn't help but think that the underlying rot and decay were connected somehow until that flit of activity caught his attention and broke his reverie. He blinked a few times, it taking a moment for him to realize Phoenyx had even said anything to him. "What? Oh, sorry. I'm not that experienced in these matters so if you can delve deeper, otherwise..." He gave a shrug not faulting her for saving the mana. His eyes didn't turn away from that sludge, eyes shifting and narrowing as he turned his Scrutiny toward that now. His initial assessment was in the air now, would it hold water or would he need to adjust based on new information?

Spirts are made of such refined stuff that their resonance is easier to read then that of objects, free floating or even magical phenomena and so Guru finds the truth of this creature entirely possible to read the first and most obvious thing that he can discern is this creature oozes poisonous rot, but deeper underlying that is something that represents the peaceful stagnation of the pond.

Phoenyx in her quiet revere seeing the spirt knows it seems to small, to weak to have been responsible for the leylines activity unless it has hidden power far greater then its stature and bearing would suggest. So something else could well be at work in this place.

The spirt is for lack of better terms snuffling around catching whiffs and scents where its poisonous ichor drips the ground of twilight seems to hiss and under go rapid decay the earth becoming barren and crumbling.

She half-shrugs. "Not any better, but I can speak."

She watches the small creature, letting the high Speech come through to her.

He felt the pull of Magic and heard the first question asked but he wasn't sure it was the right one just yet. The thing looked something ugly, something sickly and gross. But that did not mean it was unnatural, rot and decay were as much a part of the cycle as life and death. It's possible this was a long standing spot of stagnant water and the world influenced the Shadow or vice versa. "I think it was fixing it." He could be wrong but his observations earlier lead him to believe the spirit was reasserting its domain, or at least its Influence.


Chain of events Guru. Something happened here with the embankment, catches a bystander(?), something grabs at him which is presumably the spirit. Pheonyx rescues him, you see the embankment closing over. It could have done both then the question would be why? Phoenyx had the tongue which left him to study it some more, to glean more information from it. Spirits had a pecking order of power, they had limits to their influence. But the real question remained, what was the chain of events and was it naturally occurring?

Both mages can see and hear this creature with supernal sight in twilight thanks to the powers of supernal sight, Phoenyx however has means to communicate back.

The grotesque head bobs up and down ... almost like a dog ... the mucky bubbling burble that emanates from it can be understood by the Obrimos. "Yes, yes, broke the earth, sent the puppy tumbling into the water, into the reeds. Delicious."

The spirit owns it's actions totally unphased by the loss of life.

Guru arranges the puzzle pieces as best he can, left with the distinct impression he is missing something to bring the entire picture together. His continued scrutiny of the spirit adds to his understanding first he saw the layer of poisonous rot closest to the surface and most easy to read, underneath the peaceful stagnation of the body the pond now he perceives a clear difference between the two the rot is a much newer resonance like it's been smeared over the old coating the spirit in its infection, it feels like a brokenness, a disconnect.

The Arrow watches, frowning. "Spirits don't often affect the physical. Why are you?"

Guru knew of two ways in which a spirits nature could change. Immediately and directly through the application of willworking or slowly and over time like Guru was working on at home. Change the area to change the spirits - it could be one or the other that hollow rot. Guru's first instinct was it was touched by the abyss so either way he had to dig deeper. To confirm, to deny, to see the touch of that rot on the spirit and what might have left it.

Guru might not seen anymore but his innate connection to the tower of the stone book means he does know a few things. This is not the abyss' work their is a nasty resonance that ahs been introduced to this spirit something poisonous and rooted in death that is at a stark juxtaposition to the spirts underlying original nature and the two stand out starkly when both held in his gaze. He is right the spirit is changing slowly over the course of weeks and months as it consumes resonance at odds with itself.

It continues to burble and slurp in what to many would be an incoherent amalgam of noise but to Phoenyx it is understood as the spirt lurches a few feet closer towards her and Guru. "You have a lot of questions. You don't know very much." A sound that seems like a lunatics laugh of a drowning man emanates from whatever is functioning as its vocal cords. "Do you have something for me? Something for your answers?" It seems almost hopeful? Advancing a few more feet having closed about a quarter of the distance between them now.

[Phoenyx]

Phoenyx watches the creature suspiciously, kneeling to collect the bag with her weapons in it. "I know enough. You almost killed someone and you're bending the physical. Go back to the Shadow. Leave this place."

Glancing to Guru she asks, "Physical things will hurt this thing, right? Like in the abandoned building? Or we might be in trouble."
