A Day in the Woods

It takes her a moment, blinking and watching Vincent, trying to figure out what was so funny, “What?” not catching on until he said something. Then the pieces fell into place, mouth slightly hanging open, “Hey!” a surprised look, but amused at the same time, “That’s just rude!” laughing as well, not upset at all. “Still not eating one, cause that’s just gross! But you did have me going!” still laughing as she shook her head. The Nix didn’t feel the need to prove anything to anyone. Especially if it meant eating fish eyes. Nope.

“Well, if it tastes like it smells, I think it’s be pretty good! Though I bet the tinfoil is trapping most of the smell.” Which it did. “Can’t wait!” this was turning into a wonderful experience for her.

“Feel like I should offer to teach you about something. But I don’t really have a wide range of useful knowledge like you do. Unless you had a burning desire to learn to make the perfect cup of coffee or learning to sew.” Chuckling.

Vincent composed himself before speaking, "I am sorry for pulling your leg. But what is a first camping trip without a little hazing. Plus, I love to play the harmless joke from time to time so I really could not let the opportunity pass."

Vincent moved the foil bag once more before taking it out of the fire, "Have to let the fish rest in the foil bag for a bit. But it should be ready to eat soon. Do you want a soda, there should be a of few Coke Zeros in the cooler."

Laughing along with him, because it was funny, “I get it, and nothing to be sorry for. And I would totally not let the opportunity pass either! Tell me, have you gotten anyone with it?!” hoping there was a good story, she lived for good stories.

“Soda sounds great! Want me to grab you one?” offering as she reached for the cooler, taking out a soda and another one out for Vincent if he wanted one.

Leaning back, looking over the camp site and the woods that surrounded it, she looked thoughtful, “I can see why you enjoy this. The quiet, the lack of noise of the city, just the peace, it’s really nice, something special.”

Vincent memory goes back for a second, just a quick flash when he was a young boy, "I have not, but my dad got me with it when I was 10 or 11 years old. It was funny then, well after I got over the initial disgust of what I had done."

At the offer of a soda Vincent says, "Sure I will take one as well." Vincent looks as Seraphina makes herself comfortable "Yeah there is something about being out here that allows all aspects of me to just come to peace within. It is hard to say, especially since being a captive of both the beast and fae I have learned that at times my instincts are in a constant battle."


Vincent begins to unwrap the fish. The scent of the fish hits his nose before he sees the cooked fish. Taking some foil, he cut two pieces and placed a fish on each piece. Vincent offers one to Seraphina. "Here ya go, bone apple tea."

A bright smile then a laugh, “I hope you’re able to get someone with it, if only to keep the tradition going. It seems like one of those things that’s innocent enough to keep doing for a good laugh, that provides fun memories for years.” And those were the best kind.

The soda was handed to him as she listens and drinks her own. “Being able to find something like that, something that allows you to come to peace with that is invaluable. Everyone needs something, someplace like that, I’m glad you’ve been able to find that.” Did she have that? A place to allow all aspects of herself to come to peace? A thoughtful look as she thought it over, thinking over the numerous places she had. Her house, her coffee shop, her personal Hollow, her Dreams. A slight frown as nothing seemed to fit with what he described.

Accepting the offered piece, “Oh, this smells and looks amazing! Thank you!” then a laugh, “Bone apple tea huh? I like it.” Holding up her fish, “Cheers.” Eager to give the fish a try, she pulls a piece off with a fork, “Very flakey!” comments the Nix before taking a bite, eyes widen, “Oh, oh wow! It’s amazing!”
