Finding the Lost

She groaned as she sat up, running a hand through her feathery hair. She sat on a bench, the same bench she'd cried herself to sleep on last night. In retrospect that hadn't been a particularly brilliant idea, though she felt she could excuse herself this time. It's not often you return to your home only to find someone already living your life, with no one the wiser. She'd heard of Fetches on her way back to Sacramento, but she had hoped.

Standing up proved that sleeping on a bench is not the most comfortable, making her groan as she stretches. She had run when spying her Fetch, letting fear guide her to safety like so many times before. This time, though, she couldn't quite figure out where she might run off to. Sacramento was home, even if she had been gone for so long. If she was going to stay though, she'd have to see if there were others like her, and if there were she'd have to get on their good side. Not a particularly easy task considered all of the Lost she'd met on her way were extremely paranoid and skittish towards completely unaligned people like her.

On the whole that would be quite a task, one that she didn't feel like tackle on a empty stomach. She briefly wondered if the café she frequented in still was open as she strode off through the park.

Kathrin finds the morning to have quite a chill in the air as a thick spring breeze blows through, the hunger in her belly whispering to her loudly as a few early morning commuters either give her a wide berth or ignore her altogether. Soon enough, she finds the place as she once remembered it.

Kathrine stops outside, giving the café an surprised and rather suspicious eying over as if blaming it for actually still being around. "Well then, looks like there's some things that haven't gone completely balls up and straight to the crummy pits of hell, doesn't it..."

Stepping inside she looks about for a few moments before strolling over to the counter and ordering a sandwitch and a cup of tea.

The waitress takes her order and brings the drink and food over to Kathrin after a few minutes. As she tucks into her breakfast, she hears the same waitress yell something towards the door. There, a black man wearing a leather jacket is trying to enter with two large doberman-pinschers but the waitress is telling him that no dogs are allowed. He glances over to Kathrin before smirking to the waitress and leaves without a word. To her fae eyes, she instantly spots the Beast-like mien of black dog ears and short fur on his neck.

Kathrine looks after the man, briefly wondering why he walks around with dog ears. Moments later she almost sprays the table with warm tea as she recall she was actually supposed to find a local Changeling, and unless he's horribly disfigured the man most likely would fit the bill. A cup clatter against the table, a few bills are scratched from a pocket and a sandwich almost left behind later she stands on the street and looks about for the man. "Bloody hell, where the heck did he go?"

Karma steps out the cafe door into the brisk morning, wiping her hands on a white towel. She looks up and down the street, her amber eyes searching for the dog eared man. Her cat-like features set into a mask of concern and slight annoyance. She didn't have a problem with Lost coming into her establishment, but did they have to bring their pets?

Not that she could really blame them, being a Beast herself, she could understand the connection to the animals they resembled, but really. She looks over at the other woman also looking up the street and shrugs.

"I don't know, but the dogs were a bit much I think. Unless of course they're necessary." The "cat" speaks with a soft voice, almost a purrish rumbling quality to it. She turns and steps back into the cafe. She directs the waitress to the counter where another order is waiting to be presented to it's proper table.

On her way back itoward the kitchen, she stops at a customer's table and gives them a smile. "I trust it is made to your satisfaction?"

As Katrhin looks up the street, she can't seem to spot the fellow fae and as the second Beast returns back inside, it seems she is suddenly surrounded by Lost.

The woman at the table looks up and gives Karma a satisfied smile. "Excellent as always, dear."

Al-Adin, his pockets bulging, sprints around the corner, looking hastily over his shoulder. His speed is downright Olympic, though he doesn't look winded. The sight of a Darkling and the smell of good food conspires to stop him in his tracks.
He looks over at the Lost he doesn't know, then back behind him, making sure that he wasn't followed, before smiling. "Want some food?" He asks, holding open the door for her. He is grinning madly, and the giggling of children lightens the mood.

Kathrine simply stands there, seeming stunned with the sudden rush of Changelings popping up like weeds in a garden. After a moment she shakes herself back into focus and looks at Al-Adin, waving her sandwich in his direction vaguely. "Well, I already have something to eat... I did leave my tea inside, though."

Speaking of inside she recall that there seems to be another Changeling working at the place. She gives the grinning man a thankful nod as he holds up the door, then flashes him a smile that goes from ear-to-ear, literally, filled with needle teeth. Kathrine does seem rather confused as she sits down in her chair once more and takes a bite out of her sandwich, her gaze drifting from Al-Adin to Karma and back again. "And, er... Good day to you, I suppose. Oh, and try the chicken and bacon sandwich, it's always been good."

Karma had walked back to the counter and rung up a few more satisfied customers before Al and Kathrine came back inside. As they enter, she looks up from the register and frowns.

    I know that little one.

She'd met many of the Lost of the Freehold before going back into the Hedge, but staying so long there muddled ones memories sometimes. She tries to place a name.......but nothing comes. Finishing with her current customer, she comes back around the counter and approaches the table.

"What can I get you this morning?" She asks Al, still slightly frowning with the concentration of placing him.

What the hell is this kids name?
