Walking Under a Full Moon

Mickey Wilder walked alone under the full moon. He'd left work after beating up a guy that had made a smart comment. He wasn't surprised it had happened... his temper had been getting bad for months now, and for a couple days he'd barely been able to sleep or even relax, his rest disturbed by the voices and shadows he'd been seeing and hearing. His knuckles were scraped raw and achey, and now Mickey thought he could hear the moon, that maybe it was watching him.

He was pretty sure he was going bugfuck crazy - it ran in the family, on his mom's side - and most likely was going to end up going to prison again, or locked in a psych ward. He thought about running, or about killing himself, but his mind kept wandering. He couldn't think very clearly, his mind jumping from topic to topic, and sometimes to crazy shit, thoughts of blood and meat and images of sharp teeth that scared him so much he pushed them out of his awareness immediately. So, right now he just kept walking.

The light of the full moon shown down on Mickey with all its furious glory. Filling him, almost a constant song in his head no matter how much he tried to ignore it. A battle hymn of righteous fury, of Glory in battle, of staying Pure to one's self despite the bloodshed, of Honorable combat, of the Wisdom to find one's foes...and the Cunning to defeat them. An endless chorus that rang rang through Mickey's mind.

And he doesn't even realize that he begins to follow someone as the two move North through Downtown Sacramento.

Mickey tries to make sense of what he's feeling, of what's ringing in his head. Sometimes it's like a chorus in his head, sometimes he's sure the moon is talking to him, sometimes he goes back to just thinking he's crazy.

Glory... honor... wisdom... purity... cunning. Mickey finds some of those concepts more comfortable than others, but the ringing in his head causes him to consider how they all apply to him. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but whenever possible he's preferred to get by through craftiness even while being ready to stand up and fight when he had to. He'd learned long ago the importance of being on guard and watchful against threats, and he takes pride in being a straight-forward guy, and someone whose word, once given, could be trusted. That and his skill with his fists had earned him a good reputation among those he'd associated with, even if the general public considered him nothing more than a criminal on the rare occasions they noticed him at all. He didn't care what most people thought about him... he knew who he was.

The fury, the sense of righteousness ... those he'd started feeling more recently. Up until now, he's been scared of his temper, but suddenly, as he walks, he realizes they're starting to feel good... that there's some strength to be drawn upon from those feelings.

"And Ma thought God was talking to her, too," the rational and cynical part of Mickey's personality tells him.

Mickey shakes his head, focused on these thoughts and feelings and sensations which threaten to overwhelm him, pushing away that nay-saying part of himself. It's scary, but he gets a feeling there's something to what he's experiencing now, something real. It doesn't make sense, but on some level, he doesn't just feel it... he knows it's true.

And he looks up at the moon, he knows just as surely that its light holds a greater truth, something it was trying to show him... something he'd understand if he was able to stop trying to make sense of it and just pay attention.

And as Mickey's lost in thought he continues to subconsciously follow the man. Until the two of them end up in the open area just south of the river between Highway 160 and Elvas Freeway. He barely realizes that he's standing slightly taller than the man, that he's covered in fur, that his natural weapons could tear the soft human to shreds with a minimum of effort. He is aware that his prey, his quarry is there in front of him. And that after letting out the howl of triumph building in his suddenly cavernous chest this impromptu hunt will progress to its bloody end.

Mickey should roll Initiative in his next post. He is in Gauru form, so use the appropriate modifiers.

Noel Smiled contently at the food he had just bought from the corner vendor, not quiet sure what meat it was but it smelt good and was covered in mustard, sitting down he took a bite into with some delight, however the delight was short lived as a howl was carried over the air and into Noel' ears causing him to nearly choke on his hot dog, patting his chest to have the food go down he looked up at the sky and the moons radiant glory.

    "Well dame."

Getting up he moved in the direction he think he heard the sound, on his way handing the remainder of the hot dog and drink to a homeless guy.

Mickey is only somewhat consciously aware of what he's doing, and of what he's become. He doesn't know what to make of it - the change in perspective and size, the hairiness and, most of all, the feelings that are washing over him... the rage, and the desire to hunt. He just goes with the flow.

At first he's somewhat detached from it, as if watching from outside his body, but as he howls, his awareness slides back into his body. He isn't thinking so much as feeling and experiencing, but he is aware that he launches himself forward toward the man ahead of him, and of the urge to hunt. He doesn't know why he's picked this man as prey, and doesn't hesitate to think about what that means, or what he will do when he catches the prey.

    Initiative 14

The man turns as he hears the primordial howl split the night, and his eyes go wide as saucers as he sees the monster giving it voice. The Lunacy slams into him full force, taking its hold on the man who turns and runs as though the hounds of Hell are on his heels.

Run, run as fast as you can...if only I was as fast as that gingerbread man

Foot Chase time. Roll Stamina + Athletics in groups of four. If at any time Mickey's dice equal or exceed the man's he catches him and can attack. The man's speed is nine, so for every three dice Mickey is faster than that he gets a cumulative +1 to his rolls.
Other werewolves can now hear his howl and begin making their way to the scene, but cannot intervene in the fight until I say so.

    run him down

It takes Mickey only a few seconds to catch the terrified man. If he was thinking like a man, he'd probably try to grab the man, but Mickey's mind is now that of a merciless predator, so he instead bites at his prey. His bite connects, fangs rending flesh.
