Kindred Information, Now Online

Wilhelm walked into the library, it was finally time to check out those websites he'd gotten those months ago from Isaac. He'd spent a bit of time ensuring he had an e-mail address that was unlikely to be traced back to him. Sending out masses of gmail invites to created e-mail addresses, opening more accounts with a few, and repeating the process again. All done on public terminals. Was it a hassle, yes. Was it necessary, probably not. But with something like this it paid to be cautious. And now it was time to put that effort to some use. So he went to the most secluded terminal he could find, and started perusing Isaac's sites to see what information there was to be found.

Elanah walks into the Library and looks around for a quiet computer terminal she can use. I need to get the information typed up for Lady Shadow. She wanted to find a terminal in a quiet secluded corner and as she walked over she noticed a familier face. Priscus Von Schusten was also here. Hmm... is all she said as she moved over and sat at a terminal near the secluded corner but not sitting too close to the Priscus as to give him his privacy.

With the information given him by Isaac, Wilhelm doesn't have any problems finding two of the listed websites, though a third is not active, the domain name having apparently expired and been grabbed by one of the domain-name-for-sale scavengers.

Neither of the two pages he finds immediately seems to have anything to do with kindred - one is a geneology site specializing in Croatian surnames - but he was told to look for links that weren't obvious or which were hidden within tedious-looking stuff. One of the chains of obfuscation still worked exactly as Isaac had described, while the other was similarly hidden but findable since Wilhelm knew generally what to look for. At the end of each chain of links and pages he came to a sign-in window, requiring a screen name and email address. He recalls Isaac had suggested he use accounts dedicated to nothing but these places, and a separate one for each such site.

Wilhelm noted Elanah's entrance. But as she did not approach him he did not react to it at this time, he had a reason for being here after all. Now back to the websites, and the registration issue. Thankfully, Wilhelm had come prepared with his entire mess of unused e-mail addresses. So it was a simple matter for him to choose two of them, and craft passwords using obscure German words as their basis. Then he registered for the two sites and signed in. It was time to see what sort of information Isaac had steered him towards.

Both of the registration windows indicate that a password will be sent to the listed email account, and within a minute or so, said emails do arrive.

These sites appear, at first glance, strange. They appear to include news from various places. One site is specific to the US, while a second also has a smattering of stories from Europe and Asia, Canada and Mexico. The stories cover a mish-mash of topics: events, summaries of meetings, even a gallery opening in San Francisco.

At first, the articles Wilhelm finds at each site seem to have no common theme, but then Wilhelm notices codewords - words like "shadow" or "haunt" or "Estate" or "neutral ground" - with special meanings to Kindred. Then the stories start to make some sense. Specific names are rarely given; rather, individuals are described in terms like "The highest-placed Man of the Cloth in Cincinnati" or "the Lordly lady in charge of the local Movement."

In fairly short order, things start to make a fair bit of sense to Wilhelm, and he realizes that though coded, there is an awful lot of information here. He also realizes that while most non-Kindred who might find the sites probably wouldn't know what they were reading, some of this information could be quite dangerous in the hands of someone with just a bit too much knowledge.

If Wilhelm wishes to look for any specific information, he can roll Int + Computer to try to figure out how to navigate the sites.

Elanah pulled up a word processor and began typing away. She sighed as she wrote out the information that Lady Shadow requested...

Does Wilhelm's 9 Suxx from earlier provide him with any sort of bonus to further rolls to find information?

I'm using the Int + Comp check to see if he's gotten a good enough feel for how to navigate these sites to go well beyond what Isaac gave him. That's really about understanding how to do stuff on the computer more than investigation per se. If Willhelm makes that roll, however, the 9 sux will be his new base dice pool for further investigation rolls on these sites during this scene, since he's gotten a feel for the coded communications and so forth.

Wilhelm spends a while sifting through the site, getting a feel for it. Then he begins looking to see if he can find any information that might pertain the Horizon Pharmatech and/or the Lost Nights.
