    Softly shimmering gold flakes catch the light whenever she moves, delicate gilded gold and diamond scales extenuate the rare greenish blue color of her aquamarine eyes. In the right light, or when her mood changes, her eyes seem to illuminate from within, it’s a very gentle glow. This is the ocean lives in Sera's eyes. The scales trail up to her temples and forehead. Her hair reaches down her back, brushing the ground, spun silver and emerald. Perfectly placed tiny pearls can be seen woven throughout her hair. Very fine diamond dust falls loose from her hair when she moves, reflecting rainbows from the light. The scales on her hands are dulled by the simple fact that her hands are translucent. There is an iridescent scale like skin that pulls delicately up from her ears. The membrane shimmers and has three curly points.

    Vincent gets a nod of agreement, he got it, “Exactly.” He had a good head on his shoulders, logical even.

    As she takes in a bit more of the rusted death trap, she was content to just pass over it. Could she cure tetanus? Honestly, she wasn’t sure, but best not chance it.

    Shrugging, “I can’t help it, my mind just thinks of the worst and wants to prepare for it.” Better over-prepared then not prepared.

    “The one you bought would be good for monitoring the numbers of the eels. Though if I remember right, they were not too pleased with it being there.” Or Circe going to get it either. Laughing, “The key to the stairs is to not have me help.” That whole falling thing had been her fault, she knew it, she accepted it.

    Thinking over Krays words, “Huh, you know what? That might work and be easier for us.” But did any of them know how to do that?

    “We did talk about it, and I’m still down for learning. Mainly for self-defense until someone with more skills arrives.” Enough to keep her alive for backup.

Each point of Glamour spent adds one die to one dice pool.

    Can inflict lethal damage instead of bashing damage when fighting unarmed.

    Once per scene, the player may spend one Glamour to surround the Flamesiren with a blazing flame-like aura. Anyone looking at the Flamesiren must make a successful Resolve + Composure roll or suffer a two-dice penalty to all actions until the character decides to douse the aura or the scene ends, thanks to the distraction.

    "We do have some material from the briarwolf from the Hedge patrol a while back. Would that have given us some material to make the gloves?" Vincent asked Circe remembering the creature they took out a while back.

    Addressing Krays question, "Honestly that would work as well, but how active are the eels, if they are moving around a lot then it would be beneficial. Especially if we could tag more than one."

    Vincent shrugs when Circe mentions the metal is too rusty. "Well, I guess we keep going then, just let us know if there is anything we may need to scrounge up."

    Narration:


    The old wheels and old rusty rails make the exact kind of noise one would expect. The lubrication has delayed the inevitable, as the screech of rust being removed is atrocious. It grates upon the ears of the Lost, making them all wince and shake their heads away from the noise. Fortunately for all of the changelings, they managed to angle their ears and resist the worst of it. Their ears are ringing for a few moments, but it quickly passes. A good thing, as they could have had their hearing impeded for a longer time.


    Their pace continues, picking up speed until they are just above school zone speed limits. They only rattle on the rails on occasion, the Lost now prepared for the occasional horrid screech. This goes on for a long while. Any Lost checking their time or tracking it will hazard at least 2 hours with naught of note. Then a pattern is noted. Another rust heap. Maybe they are reaching the end? And might want to slow down a little.

    She nods when Vincent mentions the briarwolf parts. "Violent predator, yeah," she nods quickly, "Totally good enough bro. Leather for sure, if we got claws or teeth for lining would make it even better." That'd improve the effectiveness of it. She should be able to make something for Vincent.


    Circe is unconcerened by Kray's terrifying visage and shark toothed smiles. She is facing away from him, looking into the dark and shoving her ski into the dirt to keep them going. "I done the boxing practice too!" She chimes in as she proudly declares, "A Summer KO'd me! Were you there for that Sera? Memory is a lil' fuzzy on that."


    And then holy shit, her ears pull flush to her skull as she tries to shove her helmet down over them. "Vaffanculo, merda che mi fa male alle orecchie!" The pointy ears may not give her an edge in hearing stuff, but she sure wished it was the opposite right now. She was going to try using Hours contract on the rails whenever they stopped. Might help, probably not. "Ow."


    Circe shakes her head, but keeps poling as they talk. It was a long trip it seems. Sera said what? Oh. "They're camera shy," she cheerfully adds and laughing along. "Yes, though a rope and winch might work too. Especially if its heavier."


    "Well Kray," on the tracker business, "They got 'em for sharks." After a moment she justifies herself, "I watch shark week. Could probably rob an aquarium for one or something." Circe's mind went a different direction. The Internet was another option. Probably just the grey market, not even the black market needed. Or open market might be viable too. "We can check online when we get back. Sonar, tags, drones."


    There had to be some cheaper sonar options out there.


    And her arms were getting a workout. That was a lot of distance they were going. "I am glad we didn't crawl this," Circe loudly declares to everyone.


    Red and black eyes squint as a shape comes out of the darkness. A familiar shape. Oh another one. "Coming up on another rust heap! Maybe a both ends thing. We might need ta slow."


    It was a logical conclusion. Circe herself stops poling, no longer contributing to keeping their speed. Circe knew machines. This was one of two setups. A, each end had a winch to move and control the carts. That would mean they were near the end. B, there were multiple winches to keep the carts moving between start and finish. Which would mean they had a lot more travel ahead.


    Circe really didn't want it to be the second one. Her arms would be very upset about that.

The jug jaw can be said to be his most flattering feature, after the badly broken nose, limp locks of hair and sharp shattered teeth. He wears a long poorly made overcoat, suspenders keep trousers up over a ill fitting white work shirt. A battered fedora is his only accessory.

    Standing an inch or so taller and broader than its already giant mask the blubbery ashen skin, splotched with chitinous scabs and bulbous fleshy worts look almost diseased. Wild and matted lichens and moss form a tangled mane of hair and beard. Thick trunk like, twisted, arms of exaggerated length, end in vast hands with dark chipped nails. The pillar like legs bow slightly. A barrel chest and obese gut only add to the immensity of the creature. A broad jaw houses a chaotic array of sharp and curving teeth resembling shards of stone that prevent complete mouth closure ensuring they are always on display. The flat squashed nose leads to the sickly yellow sclera of the vast bulbous eyes and pupils more akin to fragments of flint, in turn overshadowed by nubbin horns protruding from a wide forehead

    Kray stops polling as the horrific sound slices through his ears to hold his hands over his head as best he can. 'AH.' Should have predicted that. Taking up again after his ears have stopped ringing.

    Guess he isn't up for it then. As Vincent blanked on the question of a little fight training. 'Uh. Well I wouldn't say what I do isn't really defensive Sarah.' Casts a glance to the Summer queen. 'But I could go toe to toe with a boxer easy enough.' Could and have. 'If your still interested Sarah I'm pretty free a couple a couple days from now.' And might as well open it to anyone else if they want to.

    Tracker idea seemed to go down well. 'Hm. I have no idea how to use one properly.' He'd never needed to track something using specially built devices before. 'But how hard an knocking over an aquarium be?' Unless they have trackers on their trackers or. 'Unless they can monitor what we use it on from were they are?' That could be problematic.

    We must have covered some decent ground, we've been going for a few hours surely. 'Uh. I don't think we could crawl this.' Not in anything resembling reasonable time. While strong enough to carry most household furniture with ease and without help, Kray is not a tireless machine and the prolonged exertion is starting to show, harder breathing beads of sweat. I hope that's the end, we still got to get back. But with a call to slow will attempt apply some braking force by holding his pole out in front on him and pressing it along the ground.

    The screech caused her to winch and cringe away from the sound. It was certainly not pleasant and not something she ever wanted to hear again.

    But they were moving along at a good speed, covering distance that would have probably taken them hours by foot. The speed made her hope they had a good way to stop, because if not, she’d be working overtime to patch people up.

    “Only thing I remember is Sonnie beating you in a wrestling ring. Was there one with another Summer?” and she did she forget? Not like her, but not impossible.

    At the mention of slowing down, "Uh, how do we do that again?"

    To Kray, “Still interested!” and in a way, it felt rebellious. Rhodes had always hated her training to fight, ever since she ended up in the hospital. His dislike of it had led her to not push for it as much.

    “I say we look online to see if we would even be able to purchase them, and if so, what the cost would be. If we can’t, then, well, we keep the gate up and put a sign.” She was not willing to break into an aquarium. Could she talk her way into one and get what they wanted? Maybe.

    Kray isn't able to get a good catch on the ground to slow them down. Doing it from the back is probably a hinderance. Dragging might work, but Kray can easily deduce that any crossties that are buried will have a good chance of ripping the pole from his hands.


    After 3 minutes of coasting, their speed has greatly reduced but they aren't at the end. They have gone less than a single mile in that time. It took the Lost about half an hour to encounter the rust heap last time. It is too dark to see the end of the tunnel. The Lost have at least some distance to go before the find out if the tunnel is ending or if they have to pass more than two rusty winch heaps.


    If they wish to proceed at a Safe speed instead of all out, this will take more time but has a bonus. Proceeding at Safe Speed will add +1 to Athletics + Strength or pure Strength rolls to "apply the break." You are currently below Top Speed but above Safe Speed and slowing down.


    A roll of Intelligence + Academics or Wits + Survival can help to figure out how much further they've gone. And how far they have gone.

    Circe leans forward, but no stop is coming soon in her line of sight. She considers the question of B&E. She is a Larcenist, so it shouldn't be, wait. Kray thinks the aquarium could track their own GPS trackers? That. That swings. "Huh. Good point Kray. They probably can. Bad idea, good call Kray."


    Then agrees with Seraphina that the Internet was a good choice. "See how easy it is ta legally get first. Shade the markets after," was the criminal Fairest's first thought on it. Then she starts laughing. "It is amazing what is legal ta buy in some states."


    "Huh, think it was just Summers. That time when we had a bunch," she thinks on it for a moment. That needed some clarity. "Not glass psycho and fat general wannabe." That should help clear it up. She didn't remember the wannabe general that well, didn't like him. "Difference between pugilist and a gun bunny," she doesn't even sound bitter. No really. The Summer were more worried about their unconscious queen than she had been about being KO'd. Circe thought it was awesome.


    "Nothing is impossible Kray," she assures him. She has marched through the Hedge from San Fran to Baja for smuggling guns. She may prefer machines and engine, but that didn't mean the Larcenist wasn't capable of walking. And running. For that is the ultimate backup strategy technique. "It'd just be slow as merda."


    And it looks like the breaking process was going to be more of a pain than expected. Kray didn't get it to go slower. She tries her own arms at it. And explains the process to Seraphina, "Wait and gravity. Or do it like a gondola in reverse. Poke and push behind us to accelerate, tap tap tap in front to slow down." In theory at any rate. She got the instructions from the Internet. Granted, it was for slow moves and not actually going up to speed. Worst case, they just wait. "Probably should'a, uh, said that ta all of ya a while ago, he he he."

    Kray isn't used to not having an impact when it comes to feats of strength, and consequently his inability to cause the cart to slow tells him all he needs to know. 'Uh. I say lets keep it slow and steady for a bit. See if it comes to an end.' Someone had to make all of this, so how elaborate did they get, how far does it go? 'Because we seem a lot better at gaining speed then losing it.' And its not just because my shoulders hurt.

    The wildness that infuses a Beast gives her a supernatural affinity with animals. A Beast gains the benefit of the 8 again rule when using the Animal Ken Skill, and receives a free Specialty for the one animal that most reflects the Beast’s seeming. That same wild nature gives a Beast a powerful personal magnetism. A Beast’s player can spend points of Glamour to add to dice pools involving Presence and Composure. Each point of Glamour spent adds one die to one dice pool.

    Tooth and Claw

    Can inflict lethal damage instead of bashing damage when fighting unarmed.


    Burning Hypnotism

    Once per scene, the player may spend one Glamour to surround the Flamesiren with a blazing flame-like aura. Anyone looking at the Flamesiren must make a successful Resolve + Composure roll or suffer a two-dice penalty to all actions until the character decides to douse the aura or the scene ends, thanks to the distraction.

    Vincent shook the ringing out of his ears. Glad to hear that they were together on the trackers, "Let me do some research I may be able to purchase some so we do not have to worry about anyone tracking our ow trackers." Plus he didn't feel like dealing with the authorities if they are caught with stolen property.

    Vincent looked around, he felt that they had to have made more progress.

    Softly shimmering gold flakes catch the light whenever she moves, delicate gilded gold and diamond scales extenuate the rare greenish blue color of her aquamarine eyes. In the right light, or when her mood changes, her eyes seem to illuminate from within, it’s a very gentle glow. This is the ocean lives in Sera's eyes. The scales trail up to her temples and forehead. Her hair reaches down her back, brushing the ground, spun silver and emerald. Perfectly placed tiny pearls can be seen woven throughout her hair. Very fine diamond dust falls loose from her hair when she moves, reflecting rainbows from the light. The scales on her hands are dulled by the simple fact that her hands are translucent. There is an iridescent scale like skin that pulls delicately up from her ears. The membrane shimmers and has three curly points.

    Cherry blossoms gilded in gold bloom from her hair, tumbling down as a warm rejuvenating spring breeze gently kisses the air with the scent of freshly cut grass. The sound of birds singing can be heard as the wildflowers grow and bloom in vibrant colors where she walks, swaying and lively in the breeze.
    Sera's hands and lower legs are translucent while the rest of her has cracks

    “Must have been just Summers then because I don’t remember it.” Though she did frown at the remarks about Fawkes, she never had an issue with him. Rhodes did, that was for sure. But maybe she just had a soft spot for those broken and struggling.

    Looking at the pole in her hand, “Well, I’ll give it a try.” All she really could do. Maybe it was time to lift some weights and get some muscles. But not too many muscles, just enough to have a little more strength. The Nix begins to tap tap with the stick in front, it wasn’t a whole lot, but she managed to put some real effort into it.

    Talking over her shoulder to Kray, she was still somewhat focused on her tapping to help slow them down, “I’m guessing glass psycho is Fawkes. Though I never saw him as a psycho, him and I got along just fine. But if Circe says he was psycho, then I tend to believe her. Plus Rhodes wasn't too fond of him either.” She was just giving her personal opinion on the guy.

    She also looked around, but didn’t know how far they had really gone, or much else. But she does decide to save looking for a Gate until they’ve found a place to stop.

    Her skin turns a slate-blue and her hair bone white. The whites of her eyes are blood red, the irises are purple with cat-slit black pupils. The helix of her ears elongate out 2" inches ending in a tip. Her features sharpen and her figure has an unnatural, inhuman litheness that can be intellectually disturbing.

    Her skin brings to mind Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, or Asian races, though her high cheek bones and sharp facial structure don't match. Most assume she is of mixed ancestry given the pale blonde hair. Alias Mary Maniscalo.

    Narration:


    Seraphina, has no clue how far they've been going. A check of her watch shows it is about two and a half hours. The other Lost? Yeah, they collectively know where they have been going and how far. About 27 miles East of where they started. Well outside Sacramento and into the suburbs. Strap a small engine to the cart and it could beat rush hour. It was quite the distance.


    Vincent and Seraphina manage to greatly reduce the speed of the kart. They are now coasting along very slowly, at waklking speed now. They can maintain the speed and stop without rolls easily. The Lost were over cautious, for it is about an hour at this speed before they finally see it, the end of the rails. So, 30 miles. It looks similar to the prior stop, though there are wooden beams here and there from what looks like a crane of some kind. So either the booze came from here to Sacramento or from the Sacramento River to here. Rum running up the river and then tunnels inland? Logical.


    The stone and brick room is rather large and smells of rust. The Lost are on the opposite side of another ex-secret door mechanism. The door itself is old wood and covered in panels that are hollow on this side. The camouflage is on the other side. The rusty stnech source is clearly the old the moving mechanism. Though it isn't all rust, some of it looks quite intact, mostly it is the metal on the door that is oxidized though it did spread to some of the "arms" from the mechanism. Maybe they could salvage it?


    If the Lost want to search, that is Perception. If the Lost want to force the door, that is Crafts and Int/Wits or Athletics and Strength, with any tool bonus such as a crowbar or other tools. Kray's sledgehammer would count as a +2 tool. Vincent 's rope can make use of a Survival + Strength roll, with team work, if he wants to try having the group pull the door down. Attacking the door to knock it down is also an option. If they attack, it has Durability 1, for it is old, decerped, and part of its mass is just dust.

    Circe:


    "Oh ho ho ho! Yeah we are Kray," she finds it funny despite the hazard possibility. A Summer mindset. Brakes might be required for future projects. Especially if she got an engine or something going to move this thing.


    The question of the unwanted Summers from Kray does get a response from the Summer Queen quickly. Her Mantle flares. She gets in under control and explains. "Yeah, Fucks," she concurs with the name Seraphina provides. Mostly concurs, Circe is more disdainful, "He was the glass bastard that tried to kill his fellow Summers. No reason known and ran off before I could give him lead poisoning." The was a understatement. Circe had been eager to shoot him for that treachery. "The Generalissimo had delusions of uniforms, everybody call him Sir, chains of command, every court following his orders on a battle line during Summer, blah blah blah," the Larcenist was oozing disrespect right now. She hadn't liked that at all. "All talk, no action. Glass maniac was his only supporter in Summer. He ran when his dog snapped."


    There had been other excuses given, but Circe wasn't going to be a reliable narrator to the folks she hated. Petty? Who said she can't be that? She'd shoot 'em.


    Kray's praise stokes her pride. "Thanks. Guess that is why they built it ta move rum fer, uuuuh," she responds to Kray and tries to calculate it. "Fanculo, we're at least outside of Sacramento now. Electric engine and brakes in the future."


    It was a bit longer travelling slow before the lights showed something besides the tunnel. An alcove? Nay! "Hey! End of line!" She cries and starts tapping the pole to brake. This was a first. Going back would be easier, sort of. Not like Circe could hail a cab in her outfit. Actually, no, she could call a coworker for a lift.


    When the cart stops, Circe will lose the pole and sweep with the SMG. Nothing moving, lot of nose wrinkling rust smell. "Not the worst smell down here," she gripes.


    But she does click the safety back on, lowering her gun, "Looks clear." Then looks at the door. Circe slings the gun and takes out her multiool. She begisn adjusting it. After a moment, she gets a very small pry bar. Then looks form it to the door and back a few times. "Fanculo che," and pockets it. She then sets down the submachinegun on the stopped kart. And looks around, trying to find a solid piece of wood. Something to use to knock it down. It was like she'd forgteen Kray had brought a hammer meant for this exact purpose.

    "Ah," she leans down for a 6' piece, braces her foot on a weak section, pulls, and snaps it into a 3' piece of wood. Then gives it a swing, "Eh, should work. I'm irked and wanna break a shitty door."


    The Summer Queen is choosing violence.
