Anatole had backed out of the hole the group had mashed into the Thorns, scrabbling away from the noxious cloud.

"I was hurrying things along. I heard something. I dont think we should hang around here for much longer. You go in and collect the samples. I have some extra knives, bags and tupperware in my backpack should you need them."

Sera enters range of the spores, handing Circe the container. The spores drift near, landing on the Spring's clothing, her hair, her skin. Her fortitude sees her through, but her medical knowledge and the nightmare of Gerrit's healing make it blaringly clear that she'll need to decontaminate herself, soon.

Quick as you please, Circe plucks the fruit from it's branch, this close Circe notices the Rust, the spores laying happily upon the fruit like peach fuzz, a dark brown, and nearly disguising the dappled appearance of the fruit beneath, a lighter skin, with darker spots. With care the fruit disappears inside of the container.

Anatole can I get a Dex + Athletics to see you safely from the spore range.

Also, are you sealing the container with tape? And are you going to try and grab one of the rotten fruits for comparison?

She got why Circe was upset, at least, it sounded like she was upset. Usually when the language changes, the Summer is upset.

But, rightfully so.

“I needed to give you the container.” That was the only reason she got this close. And now, looking at the air and her arms and body, she was regretting it. “Yeah yeah, no problem, hand me the tin and I’ll tape it up.” Cause she was not having them walking around, even back to the gate without that thing sealed.

If Circe hands her the tin, Sera will work on taping it up, trying to seal the danger as much as she can. “I need to wash this off me.” Was she nervous about it being on her? Hell, yeah, she was.

"Then we best not loiter," she tells Anatole.


Circe closes up the tin with the dusty Rust fruit inside. They can experiment on it broken by breaking it since is the only one she has on her. And Anatole has more but it isn't out, so she will slowly hand the tin over to Seraphina for taping, "Safer than more sorry. Treat it like dynamite," she dryly says. As for grabbing a second? Circe grabs a second intact fruit, carefully, for bagging and boxing. She then motions away from her, "Okay, got two. Step 2, everybody out of the toxic smoke. Step 3 bag and box numba 2. Then profit."


"We all need ta be hosed off," she assures Seraphina. "We'll get everyone hazmat gear for next visit."


If not something surplus, than something home madep would have to do. Boiler suits with tape or even more of the same that she was wearing but with more for the head. Silicon rubber coifs or gimp mask maybe.


Circe scowls under her mask, the tangent isn't needed. "Everybody move it back now, let's get outta the cloud. Then bag shit. I have water, but not using it ta wash hands until after we're outta the rust dust."

Circe will try to usher her fellow monarchs out of the Rust Dust cloud she had made. To safer areas before they store the second fruit. IF they prove stubborn about moving, well she is sure she is stronger than them.

Anatole scuffles away from the expanding, treacherous, spore clouds. His is not a clean escape - some of the spores land of his arm and the folds of his backpack. None, it would appear, get on his skin or inside his gear (as far as he can tell).

To be honest, the Wizened is much more eager to hustle away in the direction commanded suggested by Circe.

This Harvest King wants to get off this rank trod.

Anatole doesn't avoid all of the spores, but he does avoid most of them. Quite the accomplishment considering the sheer amount Circe and he had kicked up into the air.

The container is tapped up and their fresh fruit is safely inside, the rotten ones left to the ground.

Now comes the question, should they travel through the hedge and hope for something to help them with the decontamination possibly dragging the Rust to places it hasn't been too yet, or use this Trod, and bring all the spores Iron Side.

Nodding, she starts to wrap the tin with the tape, trying to make sure to have the edges sealed.
Sera won’t need to be ushered, she is already walking away from the danger cloud, no one needs to tell her twice.

“Well, we either use the water we have to try and wash as much of this off as we can, or we hope to find something. I don’t think it would be smart to go too much further in, we risk spreading the spores beyond this area.” And that was a no from her. Part of her wanted to find a Path to the Tavern, but that put the Tavern at risk, and Funderland as well. “Do we know if the spores are effective on the other side? Or are they made specifically for Hedgefruit?” cause then they risk infecting Sacramento.

Oh. Oh. That is a problem. Spread the dust or infect the mundies. Which was it? Would the Rust work Iron Side? She had to think about it with what she had seen, at the grave and the park rather than just this Trod. Maybe Anatole would know if Seraphina didn't? "That is, a concern both ways."


The Summer Queen, Groundskeeper of Sacramento, wracks her brain for the conclusion to the evidence.

"Well, we also have my trench coat. We could damp and cut it. Make wiping clothes to wipe ourselves down when outside the rust dust. Then ditch it," was one solution she had. It did come with a problem. "But, well, I'm gonna look very strange in Sacramento's streets dressed like this."


It was a question if the cops would show up, social media for cosplay, or a challenge to her honor for the glory of Greyskull. Cops would be very bad given the explosives and weapons.


"We do that, we march this side and ummm, leave the coat here? Or burn the coat I guess," Circe shrugs. was her suggestion. She didn't want to destroy the duffle bag. She was carrying a lot of stuff

"Circe and I did check the remains of the Metal Flesh that was buried our side. If the body was carrying spores they weren't showing, so there is a chance the Rust is tied to the Hedge and Glamour. Still, I'm going to leave my over coat and some of my other gear in the Hedge. Just as a precaution. If we can seal the duffel bags, so much the better - we'll have to bring our bags back over."

He paused, a hand absently hunting for his beard (now hidden beneath PPE).

"Unless you want to try exiting the Trod and cutting open another Gate as soon as we can, then making our own way home by that route through the Thorns. Not without risk, but it would avoid spending too much time in Mundy World."

The old Trod entrance was keyed to an ornamental space in a park. In the beating heart of the city. But a Changeling could open a Gate anywhere, providing they could find a spot shaped like a doorway or other point of entrance. Surely they could find something.

The danger was wether or not a fresh Gate was tied to the same part of the Hedge...

Like Anatole says, Circe is reminded that whatever spores were upon Carlos they hadn't taken root Iron Side. It's possible that they cannot survive without glamour, or, it might have been that when she had him cremated that the fire had cleansed the infection. But, from what Sera had already said about the spores, and the fuzzy info she can recall, it's unlikely that the Rust can survive long enough to spread on the mortal side of things.
