Goodbye Summer Bash!

A notice had been put up at Funderland about the pool/bbq party at her house. And the day had finally arrived! It had been Vincents idea to have an end of Summer barbecue and she had been happy to host!

Which felt…weird. The last pool party/barbecue she hosted and resulted in a fight of sorts with Rhodes and her selling that house to buy a new one. This one. The one they had made their home. But…it wasn’t their home anymore, it was hers. She had taken it back, redecorated the whole thing, repainted, and made it just hers. It had been hard, but it had been an important step in moving on.

The Nix went all out. There were giant pool floats in the pool, including pool noodles towels laid out near the pool chairs and the grill was going. She had burgers and hot dogs, along with vegan varieties in case. There was every type of side imaginable on a table, along with various coolers with water, soda and beer. The hot tub, which was attached to the pool, had little ruby duckies floating around, from the color of them, you could tell they totally glowed in the dark. A table had sunscreen on it in case anyone needed some.

Various lawn games were setup. Everything from a huge Jenga game, to Connect Four and logs people could stand on and whack each other with oversized padded sticks.

Around the pool area were various colored solar lights, twisting in the slightest breeze. The Treasured was by the grill, making sure nothing burned. That just wouldn’t do. She wore a white bikini with a blue wrap around her waist. Which actually matched her eyes. Where this was her house, she didn’t have her Mask on, the new cracks in her gilded skin on full display.

The others had been directed to use take the stone path beside the house to the open gate.

Time to party and enjoy some free food and just having fun!

[Vincent Black]

Vincent walked in wearing Hawaiian print board shorts, a light blue Hawaiian button up shirt, and a pair of neon green retro 90s shutter sunglasses. He had a backpack slung over his shoulders and was pulling a wagon with various foil wrapped containers (ribs, pulled pork, baked beans, and potato salad) as well as pulling a wheeled ice chest filled with Tecate and cut up limes. "Hope you don't mind I brought some more food for us to enjoy. I usually love to smoke and barbecue my own food, but I do not have a big enough device for this party so I ordered some take out. So where would you like it to be set up?"

[Seraphina]

Sera eagerly waves as he approaches, “I don’t mind at all! The more food the better!” motioning him to the backyard.

“The barbecue is there and there should be enough space on the counter around it.” Then look at the cooler, “And I have drinks over there,” motioning to a table with various drinks and ice, all under the shade of course, “so feel free to put stuff there as well. I have most of the hard alcohol still in the house for now, figure beers would work.” Unless someone wanted to do shots or something.

“Hope everyone comes! These things are always that much more fun with everyone!” she figured Sonnie Wu would come, food and an excuse to have fun.

Looking around again, but with a frown, “Think I’ve forgotten anything?” she had food, drinks, music, pool floats and toys and yard games. What else could they need? “I haven’t hosted in years.” she had always been the social one in her marriage.

Vincent looks around as he starts setting up the food he brought, "I think between the two of us we have everything covered. I was hoping to see Sonnie Wu here already, also thought at least Jasper and Circe would drop by as well. I know those two would not refuse free food." Vincent paused a second admiring the beauty that was Seraphina, "I do not think in the short time I have been here that I have seen the real you in sun. I have to say you look beautiful, and it is not just because of the swimwear. If I did not know any better, I would be afraid that you were one of the Others."

Pool party?

BBQ?

Throw a martial art tournament in there and you might have Sonnie's idea of heaven.

As it was, the simian Beast announced her sudden arrival with a scream of excitement! "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!" She came bursting into Seraphina's backyard wearing a blue, monkey- and banana-themed swimsuit and carrying her dog Fugly, whose tail was going a mile a minute. So was Sonnie's (which was weird as monkeys didn't wag their tails).

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH--" She paused by the Fairest, ceasing her scream long enough to hand her the dog, (and a tub of store-bought potato salad). "Hi Sera! Hi Vinnie!" then resumed her loud rampage. Kicking her flip-flops off, she ran to the pool full tilt.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH--" The scream was cut off again because the Claviger had leapt into the pool without a second's hesitation.

Bubbles surfaced.

Blurb blurb blurb.

Finally, her head came up, a big grin spread across her wet face. "Wow, I needed that! Heat's been ridiculous! So, how y'all doing today?"

[Seraphina]

Laughing as she looks again at the food, “Well, food is always the most important part to any successful pool party!” and a pool of course. “Oh, I’m sure she’ll be here.” No pool party was complete without the Beast. “I’ve found that Circe tends to arrive on her terms, and it always get the party started.” Then a shrug, “I don’t know Jasper well enough yet, but I hope he’s able to make it.” As the newest Spring, she had figured he’d be eager to show off his new mantle. Or maybe not.

There was a brief look of surprise before she smiles, “Thank you! That’s so nice of you to say.” Laughing, “I can assure you, I’m not one of them. Though I do have a few tricks that would make you think I was lying about that.” Was she joking? It didn’t sound like she was. Afterall, she was a Fairest, she could exceed any known standards of beauty with a simple Contract. One of her favorites actually, it was always fun to see the reaction when she used that one.

Before she can say anything else, Sonnie made her appearance!

The Nix opens her mouth to greet her best friend, but quickly closed it as Fugly was handed to her. But she didn’t mind, instead, she laughed and greeted Fugly! The potato salad was placed on a table as Sera balanced Fugly on a hip. “Hello Fugly!” she coos, kneeling down to place him on the ground, and offering belly rubs if he wanted some. There was a also a water dish already filled for him as well.

When Sonnie resurfaces, “Waters good?” of course it was, she had pool people to take care of it for her. “Oh, and Fugly is welcome to jump in if he wants too.” The pool didn’t have a liner, so no risk of his nails tearing one. Speaking of the pool, the Nix takes a second to take off her wrap and jumps in after Sonnie, “Oh! It’s perfect!” beaming as she splashes the Beast once. “Not doing too bad! Been looking forward to this party though, we all need the chance to just have some fun! You?”

[Anatole]

Anatole appears - overdressed for the occasion. He wares a light grey casual suit, soft shoes, with his jacket slung over his shoulder. Tucked under an arm is a brown paper bag that clinks suspiciously. His hair and beard are wild. His teeth flash as he smiles warmly at the host.

"Seraphina. I bring gifts of drink."

He looks around him, eyes locking onto the jenga blocks.

"You have done well. And it is so good to see a little gathering outside of Funderland for a change."

He pauses as Sonnie Wu emerges, drenched, in the pool; and the Nix joins her. Chuckling and shaking his head, he moves over to where Vincent Black @Ragnorokxg is setting up his food. To these offerings, the Wizened adds the extra drinks from his bag.

"Greetings. Seen you around but I don't think we actually been introduced. My name is Anatole."

[Vincent Black]

Vincent is surprised and then laughs at Sonnie handing over the dog before jumping into the pool. It seemed like a good idea, and he was about to join them when he was approached by the newcomer. "Nice to meet you Anatole, the name is Vincent. I have seen you around as well, glad you can make it to Seraphina and my shindig. I felt it would be a good way to celebrate outside of Funderland and have fun." Vincent notices that his companion is not really dressed for a pool party, "Did you bring a change of clothes so you can jump in the pool? If not maybe we can play a game while we wait to see if any others will join us."

[Sonnie Wu]

Fugly was, of course, happy to see his Auntie Sera. The mongrel was all tail wags and prancing feet, and eagerly accepted the belly rubs. Once Sera left him to go to the pool, he found the water dish and started lapping up the cool water.

"Very good!" Sonnie answered the Fairest as she idly treaded water. "I'm not sure he knows how to swim, actually. But he'll be fine." She laughed as Sera entered the pool with her.

"Heyyyy!" she waved at Anatole as he arrived. "Welcome to the party!"

Fugly, having drunk his fill for now, wandered over to the Wizened and the Wolf and sniffed at the men curiously.

[Seraphina]

Hearing a new voice, she looks over and happily waves, “Hey Anatole! So glad you could make it!” the Nix was honestly happy he came. “Oh! Thank you for bringing some drinks! Can’t wait to try them!”

Wiping some water off her forehead, “Wasn’t just me, this whole thing was Vincents idea, I just happened to have the location. But I agree, it’s good to get out of Funderland every now and then. So relax, grab a drink, something to eat and just have fun or just relax!” she did need to touch base with the dwarf at some point, it wouldn’t be today. Today was going to be a happy day.
Vincent introduces himself and asks Anatole about a change of clothes, so she focuses on the pool and Sonnie.

A frown, “Huh, guess I thought swimming was just an instinct thing for dogs.” Shrugging, “Either way, if he wants to give it a go, we’ll be here! Or he can be the lifeguard and all that.” Just looking cool chilling on the side. Bringing her legs up, she floated on her back for a couple seconds, golden scales shimmering from the sun and water, the cracks catching the sun as well. “Have to say, I’m going to miss the warmer weather. I’m more of a warm weather kinda girl.” Dropping her legs down, “But! It does mean our annual haunted corn maze is coming up!”
