This was the premier social event of the season, one could argue of any season as Spring had a reputation for being the most inclined to party, and Gawain wanted to make sure he made a strong impression on everybody else. This would be his first time seeing, and being seen, by almost everyone else that formed this community after all, and first impressions would be everything. He had chosen a purple dinner jacket with matching slacks for today's event, paired with black dress shoes and white button-up underneath, accented with a red string bowtie. He also carried his metal-tipped umbrella and sported a pair of black shades, but such accessories were merely his common accoutrements and not chosen specifically for this occasion.
The first person his eyes are drawn to is the metal-plated figure at the center of a crowd, helped by the glowing "notice me" light hovering over him. Accompanying him is a giant wolf-headed fellow and- oh hey! Circe! He was very tempted to go over and join her. She was the only person he had been in contact with before and besides, there seemed to be a number of Summers conglomerating over there. It would be a good chance to meet his other seasonal cohorts. And they were talking about weapons! Ooh, he should've brought his sword! Except... well, it was indeed a number of people over there. He was by no means shy, but a conversation could only accommodate so many voices. Meeting his fellow courtiers would have to wait.
Which meant it was time to make some new friends! On his way to the refreshments table, he nearly misses the pale-skinned and winged woman standing nearby, only realizing she's a person and not another fixture when he draws nearby. After grabbing a glass of ginger ale from the assembled beverages, he made sure to circle back to her, umbrella tucked under arm. He figured given the choice of company, sticking with kith and kin was a reasonable option.
"Hail and well met, winged one. Quite the event your Court has put on. And quite the location you've put it in. But tell me, is the catering to be trusted? One of those cakes in particular over there is a bit... disconcerting."
Months had been spent working on her dress for the evening. Months of finding the perfect materials and getting them to work in the way she envisioned. That was always the fun part with Hedgespinning, getting the materials to mesh to fit your vision. There were days when after hours of work, nothing fit and it all fell apart. Then days where it was the opposite and your vision begins to take physical shape. Those were the days that helped keep her going, seeing the pieces come together.
And so, on the night of the Coronation, she was upstairs in one of the rooms, making sure each piece was perfect. Nothing but perfect would do. She was the Queen, and a Fairest. Hair was in place, a messy braid cascading down her back with some hair left free to sweep the floor. Her makeup was nonexistent, she didn’t need it.
Entering the Tavern from the stairs, she walks down. Her dress had a soft, Spring glow to it, well, the pieces of the various flowers did. They were stained glass, or what appeared to be stained glass, omitting a warm glow. A seemingly endless spectrum of changes in colors, all soft, vibrant, but warm, not overpowering. Her wedding ring came alive within the Hollow, blooming that distinctive shade of red that was Rhodes' flowers.
Reaching the bottom, there was a warm smile as she observed all the Courts hard work on display. They really threw the best parties! Sapphires glance around the room once again, seeing who was there, noting a couple new faces around Circe, and offering a nod to her.
“Thank you all for coming tonight, and welcome to the Spring Hollow!” rings out the angelic voice.
Not wanting to get into a talk right away, she still had to deal with the Wyrdstone, she begins to make her way towards it. Setting on a wooden pedestal with a cloth over it. On her way, she picks up one of the champagne flutes.
Gerrit arrived at the Tavern dressed in a simple, dark blue suit. This wasn't a rental, like the tuxedos he had worn to prior Coronations - this one was his own. With how the Lost came and went in Sacramento, it felt right to him to provide some semblance of permanence.
His crown, the fern frost adorned panes of ice that cut into Gerrit's scalp, had already begun to melt, preparing the transition from Winter to Spring.
The first thing he noticed wasn't the newly decorated and expanded Hollow, it was the presence of a handful of new Lost. In fact, there were almost as many new faces than known ones. And even then: there were unknown Changelings that felt as if they definitely belonged here, and there were some who stood out by the absence of that feeling.
But tonight was Spring's turn to take over the Crown, so Seraphina would have to show them the Wyrdstone. And even if the obviously-not-Winter Mantles could have been misleading, the fact that there hadn't been a Monarch to represent Winter until Gerrit had returned told him that there were no new Onyx Courtiers to welcome. Just as well. A dragging ache of Sorrow forced a low sigh out of Gerrit's lungs. That was just the way it was in Sacramento.
He would have to introduce himself sooner or later, but right now he didn't feel like beeing the center of attention, so he made his way over to the buffet where Anatole had already treated himself to some of the goods offered.
He returned any greeting on the way, all the while taking in the grand location and the impossible beauty of some of the Lost - most importantly that of the Queen of Desire herself. It was hard to get used to the Fairests' beauty, and Gerrit's absence for the last weeks amplified that feeling of sensory overload even more.
Seemed like Seraphina was about to unveil the Wyrdstone, her voice still lingering in the air like a promise of safety and warmer days. So he wasn't too late.
"Hello Anatole. Looks like you are already enjoying the bounties of the Season." He poured himself a tea and stood next to the Wizened with a a not-quite-but-almost-amused look. Paying respect to Seraphina and getting to know the new members of Freehold was certainly something he had to do later - for now he wanted to get acclimated with someone familiar.
Sonnie Wu dutifully followed in Seraphina's wake, Hedgespun staff in one hand, held like a ceremonial weapon (as she was the Claviger, after all). For this Coronation, her outfit was was multicolored hedgespun dress of a butterfly design. It colorfully kept in theme with the Spring Queen's stained glass outfit, yet stood on it's own (not that she could ever outshine a Fairest, especially Sera). Her hair was loose and long, her feet bare. It felt like she was presenting herself as an accessory to her Monarch's glorious presence.
"Yes, welcome everyone! Party down and let your Desires run free!" she laughed, eyes dancing about the room.
Turning to the guest in the Tavern, “Spring wants to welcome you all and thank you for sharing this evening with us! The Court has worked tirelessly together to prepare what you see here tonight.” A warm smile touching her lips was offered to each present. “As we welcome the changing of the Season, we encourage you to embrace your Desires, do not deny them. To deny them, even the simplest of them, is to let Them win. To let Them take that joy from our lives, that we as Spring, refuse to give up. Refuse to allow Them to take anything more from us. We embrace hope. The hope of new beginnings, with new friends, new growth, and a joy They cannot take. So we gather to express that joy, happiness and desire, to show them that They have not won.” Pausing for a moment, “Spring is the promise that everything can begin again, and allows us to let go and embrace something new. Life is reawakening around us, showing us that we too, can reawaken and grow. Everything that died in Fall and Winter, is alive once again. Rebirth and growth are just a few of the things Spring is known for. Take the time to reflect and give yourself the chance to regrow and become who you want, who you envision yourself to be. Spring is seen as nature’s way of coaxing us to renew ourselves and initiate new projects and fresh ideas. So please, enjoy the warming of the weather and the regrowth of beautiful nature and what she has to offer!” raising her glass. “May Spring be fruitful and joyful for each of you!” her angelic voice rings out as she then walks over to the Wyrdstone and gently lays a hand on it, putting her Glamour into it, awakening it to Spring once again. The wedding ring already alive with the red bloom, standing out on her translucent hand.
Once she does, the Golden Antlers of her crown appear, reaching out while spring flowers, blush in color, blossomed beneath them. Emerald colored jewels could be see twinkling in the soft glow of the Taverns lights.
Turning, she looks for Sonnie, "I have to say Sonnie, your dress is breathtaking! You look simply amazing!" she gushes honestly. She had never seen her friend look so regal. Maybe it was time for a talk.
