[Jasper]

Jasper follows a few moments afterward, starting to make his way closer to the burnt shell of a building. He's also wondering the same thing and that thought gets his anger boiling. He approaches the building again, nostrils flaring as he sniffs around as well as using his eyes. He tries to keep Talia in sight but he also wants to look at this building from the best angle possible.

Something jolts Mara's and Flickerwhisp's attention, the pair leave, and Jasper feels a tearing pull from their Pledge Bond.


The pair know fire, though from very different vectors, and their approach to learning about this one differs as well.

Jasper with his nose working, doesn't smell anything that screams accelerant, which if this fire was completely mundane, could not have done the damage to this building.

Talia, with a practiced eye takes in the scene, she's right. It's verry unstable, but holding. Most of the wood and plaster has burned away, and she can see some pieces of metal that has been warped, screws near popping out.

Mara and Flickerwhisp have exited the scene and play. If the two of you want to continue City on Fire we can totally do that, if not I can close it, or if you two don't want to continue with just the two of you I'm open to recruit more characters for the Plot

If you two want to keep at it with the two of you, you can do another Wits+Investigation. If you want to stop, no rolls needed and we can close out - or if you want to wait until we have more people, we can do that too.

The other two left, Talia only gave it a moments thought. Maybe they didn't have the stomach for this kind of work? Maybe they had left the iron on? She didn't know, and didn't think to ask as she was too busy trying to find a safe path around the building. Ahh, this bit is totally safe for sure! she stepped onto a bit of the flooring that to her looked fine at least.

Jasper lets out a startled sound as he feels what once was his motley pull away and he looks around for a moment, surprised, worried... but he doesn't see them but he does see Talia heading towards the burnt out shell of a building. He frowns big and wide, turning back for a moment before he moves to follow after the Elemental as she makes her way towards the building and possible danger. What the fuck...

He follows after Talia, looking around the area and perking his ears up. "I don't smell any petrol or anything like that.. nothing that I can see set the fire going faster, hotter." he adds as he steps after the Summer, his brow furrowing as he tries to look for clues and ignore what happened with his Strays.. He'll have to look into that later. This is the job. We need to focus on the job...

To Talia, fire-friend, it looks safe. But perhaps it's the disconnect of being physical now and not apart of the fire that leads her down the rickety, charred steps.

Jasper, distracted and following slowly after, focusing more on the cause and effect - the damage seems worse the further down they go, the basement was most likely the source of the fire - misses as the stairs give way under the combined weight of the Elemental, and the giant Beast.

Please roll Dex + Athletics to land or pull yourself up without hurting yourself - please tell me if you want to try to pull yourself up, or let yourself go down.

Talia heard the crack and creek as the stairs gave way under them "Ahhhh crap!" if she was going into the basement she was going to do her best to land in the basement as majestically as possible.

The giant Beast hears the cracking of the floor underfoot just a moment later. Must be the extra foot or two to his ears. He lets out a solid "Fuck" before instinct kicks in and he leans into the fall, trying to roll with the momentum in order to lessen the impact as gravity brings the tall man down.

Talia lands with a dull thud, but she's on her feet and not on her ass, and yeah, it's pretty majestic, until Jasper's moving. There might be a lot of body to the giant Irishman, but boy does he know how to move his bulk. He does a neat roll, and ends up springing to his feet.

It's dark, darker then it was the floor above, the only light reaching them is what's streaking through the holes in now ceiling, pulling vague shadowy shapes from the pitch black depths further away.

But hey, at least they're in the basement now.

To look around (Perception) or to poke around (Int+Investigation) without a flashlight it will be a -2 (remember Clarity), with a flashlight the negative is negated.

[Talia]

Talia could have cursed herself, a flashlight needed to be something in her to go kit and she made a mental note to steal one at the next available opportunity. Still they were alone, and she didn't need a flashlight per say. Talia removed her lighter and lit it. Touching her hand to the flame. "Well, that section looked sturdier than it actually was. I think the fire was started from down here."
