Haunting House

[Seraphina]

A look to Sonnie, then up at the ceiling, not hearing anything. But then again, she didn’t have the Beasts keen senses, and Sera would not doubt her at all. Keeping her voice low as well, “Well, this can’t bode well.” But all part of the show? Though at this point, the Nix was getting a bit tired of it if it was all for show.

As she continues moving towards the door, she suddenly stops dead in her tracks. Head whips around to look at the hall, sapphires then sliding over to Sonnie, a translucent hand pointing, “You hear that?” still keeping her voice low as she finds the ability to move again, stepping forward, not cowering. It could be another guest, and she wasn’t about to look like a fool hiding. Her body squares at the hall, appearing like she was ready to receive whoever, or whatever, was coming. Was there fear? Yes. Whatever was coming was unknown, and that was always terrifying.

[Sonnie Wu]

The Beast was still staring at the ceiling... until she wasn't. Golden irises turned towards the pair of Fairest. "Screaming stopped. Probably not for a good reason."

There was a part of her that was annoyed about not hearing the approaching footsteps coming up the hallway. Was it the same heavy steps she'd just heard upstairs? How the hell did they get down here already?

Sonnie jumped to Sera, placing herself between the Treasured and the hallway. Her staff held defensively, sliding easily into a long-practiced fighting stance.

Usually, she enjoyed a good fight. Combat was a thrill for her, like parkour or rock climbing. A little bit of risk to spice up life. An adrenaline rush. It was a Spring Court thing.

This... was not fun. This was scary and the Claviger did not like it. She was all for the faux frights of Halloween, but this was just too real. It was the Briarwolves all over again, but without a gun-toting blue elf for back-up.

[Saber Sloth]

They are in the formal dining room, behind them the hallway, ahead the windows leading to nothingness, and on the right hand wall the fireplace and two doors. The left going into the kitchen and the right the pantry.

The heavy steps are closer, ringing with a steady finality in the now screamless House, each of the Lost can hear the the steady thud thud thud coming up behind them!

Sapphires dart over to Sonnie…the screaming stopped? From her face, it was clear she agreed with the Spring, that wasn’t good. At least, it was never good in horror movies.

While there was a part of Sera that didn’t want Sonnie between her and the whatever was coming, there was a larger part that was relieved, The Nix wasn’t one to shy away from danger, but she knew damn well that Sonnie was the one with the fighting skill. More then she could ever hope to have. But if whatever came through that door hurt her best friend, she’d see them dead.

Spotting the staff, she lowered her hand to where her dagger was, feeling the cold steel of the handle on her fingers. She would probably do more damage with her Mantle then the dagger, but she’d sure as hell try.

With each THUD of the footsteps, her heart hammers in her chest, fingers nervously touching the dagger, eyes looking to Sonnie and Rhodes. Of the three of them, it was only Sonnie and maybe herself that could fight. And she knows that he knows she was not about to hide.

Sera waits to see if whatever is making the THUDS comes into the room.

[Rhodes]

Rhodes gets as far as reaching out to the door on the left of the fireplace when the thuds of footsteps come marching in their direction. The Dread Lord slips inside to hide from whatever is coming.

Being afraid of things did have it's downsides.

Just amending my list to be doubly sure am right (and a handy reference )
Entrance Hall with Arch left, Stairs & Hallway ahead (and a door that going up the stairs emerges from), Archway right.

• Going Left Archway - Skeletons lounge
• Going Upstairs - emerge out the narrow hallway (somehow) of a door back into the main entrance hallway
• Going Right - goes back to Skeleton Lounge (somehow) Different empty lounge and Archway leading further in
• Going down hallway - Dining Room, 2 doors flanking the fireplace.

Communion with Air is active, letting Rhodes sense the location of all the Air up to 40 yards around him.

The footsteps were getting faster? No, wait, that was her heartbeat.

A grin spread across Sonnie's face as she maintained her fighting stance. Part of it was eager anticipation of combat. Part of it was fear. Part of it was a primal anger. The grin had a feral cast to it. The monkey warrior was here to protect her troop. If this approaching creature was a real threat, she wouldn't hesitate to beat it into the floorboards.

Hands tightened on her upheld staff, and she waited.

Fang & Talon 2: Beast's Keen Senses active. Sonnie has +4 dice to all Wits-based perception rolls for the rest of the scene.

Rhodes slips into the kitchen. It looks strangely modern compared to the change of the rest of the House. All chrome and marble. It large, large enough to fit an everyday, ordinary person's kitchen and their dinning space. There's an island taking centre stage, topped in that clean white marble. A large sink rests on the side closest to the stoves, which are two. A staking tower inset into the custom built cabinetry, which echo the severe dark wood that had taken the rest of the House. Bar stools stand in a neat row on the opposite side of the island to the sink. On the far wall is a breakfast nook. Round table, two chairs. There's a wall of windows showing the same blank black nothingness beyond. On that same wall beside the windows, there is a door. Normally it would lead outside. Adjacent to that wall there is more cabinetry, a microwave, and another door. Leading, presumably out from the kitchen and back into the halls of the House. On the same wall that holds the door Rhodes had just passed through has the door that would lead out from the pantry.


In the dinning room, the Queen of Spring and her Claviger stand to wait for whatever is coming.

The door slams open with enough force to embed itself into the wall. What stands before the Springs is....one of the people who they say flee the House when they'd come in. Only not.

It's a women, average height, and she was pretty. More from the memory of the women running away than the one standing before them. Her ash blond hair made matted and lank by ruddy brown blood.

Her neck wretched in a spiral with bulbus rolls. Her back in towards the Springs, as is her face. Her head's been twisted right around.

There is life and fear alight in in her bright blue eyes, through the muck and blood on her face, dried tear tracks, with fresh tears welling up. The eyes glaze over as the twisted women shrieks at the Springs, but the tears still fall.

She bites her tongue as Rhodes disappears from view.

It was fine. Totally fine. Her and Sonnie had this.

Whatever it was.

And was it close!

The door suddenly slamming open jumps her, even though she was expecting something similar to it to happen. It was still loud and still sudden.

But what was behind the door was completely unexpected. She feels her mouth drop open, seeing the blood on the woman. Though it was the sight of her head being twisted around, with some sort of life still in her eyes that causes recoil. This was either a damn fine prop, or they had a dead woman somehow shrieking at them.

Swallowing, she steels her feet, prepared to fight along side her best friend.
