Sonnie could smell the terror in the air, coming off these fleeing mortals like an almost-visible stench. Usually, she didn't care for Fear-based Glamour, as it often left her feeling uneasy. This situation, however, already had her on edge. So why the heck not? It was an opportunity to feed, and she might need it now.

It wasn't much, just a smidge. Chill and salty, like tasting someone's cold sweat after they woke up from a nightmare. Blech.

The Beast let the man go, not understanding what he was yammering on about, and also she got distracted by the fact that her Queen had wandered off into the very house they'd just been warned against entering!

"Sera! Wait!" Hackles were raising, but she had a duty to keep the Treasured safe. No choice but to risk the house. Maybe that rando was just nuts? So, she ran in after her charge.

The Dread Lord watches the people pass, reading the emotions of each one. He had spend a lifetime reading people, and it came in handy now.

He looked around, hearing his wife call and Sonnie dash off. Rhodes strolled nonchallantly after them. His wife could handle herself, he knew.

"Well now," he says, looking around. "That is impressive." A little garish, but impressive nontheless.

[Saber Sloth]

Sonnies leaves the terror filled guy after supping on the Fear, to chase after her Queen. The guy stares after Sonnie, and mouth moving but words voiceless, before shaking his head, stumbling after the others. "Phones...phones working yet? We gotta get Franny to the hospital..."

Sonnie misses the last thing the guy says, but Rhodes doesn't. Not with his leisurely troll, ambling towards the House, the few steps that make the extravagant stoop, and through the grand entrance.

As soon as Rhodes clears the door, it slams shut behind him. The sound ringing in the silence of the house.

[Seraphina]

Surprisingly, Sera does, in fact, wait. Stopping in her movement, she turns, “Ok ok.” She wasn’t even that far ahead.

When Rhodes joins them, there was a nod, “It certainly is. Though I like the ones I put up better.” A shrug. Her decorating skills were unmatched.

Of course.

The Nix still thinks this could be an elaborate hoax, but the door slamming still manages to jump her. A nervous laugh, “Nice touch.” Yeah, she totally wasn’t scared by that. Though her eyes do dart a round a little bit more, just in case.

Something about phones and fannies? She didn't catch it, having entered the house to catch up to Seraphina. It was certainly nice in here, but nothing freaky. What scared those people, though? They were legit terrified. This wasn't some jump scare schlock made up by a weekend committee from the local PTA for a fundraiser, like she expected.

"I don't see any..." the door slamming shut - on it's own - caused her to hunch up and go on alert. Her reaction was that of an animal realizing it was trapped. Sonnie had to dig her fingernails into her palm to keep from leaping towards the nearest window and smash it with a simian screech.

Still, as she scanned the room for threats or ghosts or demons or whatever, she shuffled over to Sera's side, staying near her Queen. One hand slipped inside her hoodie to grasp her collapsed staff, finding the contact reassuring even if she didn't draw it out just yet.

WHATTHEHELL!?!?!

The door slams shut behind Rhodes making him jump. ".... Yes. Nice." It was hard maintaining an image of aloofness alongside acknowledging the fear. For now, Fear was winning.

"Sounds like one of those people got really hurt. Blood looked real enough too, though that's easier to mistake in the dark with people at a run."

Just to satisfy his curiousity, the Flowering tried the door.

Sera sees much of what she saw before, as does Sonnie, the beautiful bones of the House underneath the immaculate decorations, but now with the door closed, they see the window beside, the one they were sure had been cracked by the force of the door slamming open. But was now whole and undamaged.


The Dread Lord tries the door, and it remains stubbornly closed.

[Seraphina]

Sapphires narrow as she looks at the window, sure it had been cracked. But now…wasn’t?

“Huh,” half tempted to tap the glass, “maybe I’m wrong, but I thought the glass cracked.” Looking to Sonnie and Rhodes, “Maybe some type of special effect?” in what was a possible mundane house, she didn’t want to mention Contracts being used or something. So special effects it was. “If it was, it looked pretty damn good.” Props to them for that.

Feeling Sonnie closer, she offers a reassuring smile to her friend. Though seeing the Beast this on edge and jumpy wasn’t usual. Did she sense something?

“Wait, someone was hurt?” how could she not have picked up on that? What did she miss? “I mean, if it was real, maybe they got scared and fell into something, don’t think it would be unheard of.” Yeah, cause she totally doesn’t know what it’s like to get scared and fall. Nope, not her.

“Well, seems there isn’t anything in this room, I say we keep going, see the scare actors.” She wasn’t buying into it being real. Not yet anyways, not when there were mundane explanations.

"The door was probably just the wind..." Sonnie said as she waved off the incident. Denial, was there anything more Spring?

"People get trampled by panicking crowds," she added in response to the talk of injuries. "Happens all the time."

The Beast scanned the room, but wasn't sure what she was looking for. Sera brought up a good point, though. "Where are the scare actors? Shouldn't there be someone in the first room?"

[Rhodes]

Special Effect? "Hmm. Maybe. Let me take a look." Rhodes steps alongside and scans the room. Years of forcefully clinging to his sense of reality had certain advantages.

"Hurt, yes..." the flowering replies distractedly, more interested in their surroundings. They were only human after all. "Blood spatters. Certainly could have been another special effect, but they were talking about getting someone to a hospital. This may well be the last night we get to check this place before the police start poking around."

Rhodes looks around with a chuckle to mask his own nerves. "In the first room? Never. One must build the suspense. So much of Fear stems from the unknown - even a rational fear is afflicted by not knowing when or where such a thing might strike."
