[Sonnie Wu]

Sonnie didn't look at the ceiling, though she still heard the stepping noises. "Heavy steps up there, chasing someone. Might be another Fetch," She wanted to help, but had no clue how to get up there. Unlike Rhodes, she hadn't been keeping track of this crazy house's twists and turns. Her brain just didn't work like that. Maybe if she had a notepad.

The Beast headed to the fridge, moving to open it. Not that she intended to eat anything here, she was just curious about the contents.

[Seraphina]

Frowning, “At this rate, it’s going to be all night before we find the way up. And as much as I hate it, I have to wonder if splitting up will make things easier. Do we have cell signal in here?” pulling her cell out and looking, “Because if we do, we can stay in contact about which way actually gets us upstairs.” Splitting the group was never, never the right call to make. At least, not according to the horror movies she had seen. But she didn’t want them to take all night to find the way up.
Accepting the hand, she gives it a gentle squeeze.

Looking around the kitchen space and sighs. Multiple doors again. It was times like this that she wished they could somehow make a hole in the ceiling, bypass the maze.

“Maybe one of the doors is supposed to go down into a basement,” she muses, “but will actually lead upstairs.” Already moving towards the door that was near the microwave.

Eyes look to Sonnie, “We need to get up there, and I hope it’s not another Fetch.” Because that meant someone else, someone innocent, would be dead. Then a thought, “The room we just came from had a fireplace right?” she asks, looking to Sonnie and Rhodes, “Do you think the room directly above it has a fireplace as well? Meaning the two would be connected somehow.” Sharing maybe a way for the smoke to get outside. “Might be a quick way up.” Which would mean Sonnie going up that way.

[Saber Sloth]

Sera pulls out her phone and finds herself at both zero bars, and full, the date speeding through different numbers glitching halfway through each of them. Who know what would happen if she tried to call or text out, but she can try.

Sonnie relaying the info, hears a shriek following the stopping of the wet, bare steps, the kind of shrieking sound full of terror, and loud and echoing. The kind of sound that would hurt the throat, tearing something, Sonnie could almost taste the blood such a scream would cause.


Rhodes following the sound of the voices on the air advances, and pulls open the pantry door something seizes his arm and pulls him into the dark depths of the storage space, behind him the door slams shut with an echoing finality. If the Springs try to open the door, they find that they can't, just like the front door.

Okay it's definately been long enough. I don't want this plot top stall and die. So, Rhodes Xadun I know things for you have been hectic, but we can't pause everything indefinitely. We're going to go forward, and treat Rhodes as not a part of the plot any longer. Rhodes is 100% fine nothing permanent has happened to him this is just dramatics, and a plausible reason for him being gone for the remainder of the scene.

Sonnie, eyeing Sera's phone over the Fairest's shoulder, got a curious idea. "Are we in the Hedge? 'Cause electronics don't work right in the Hedge, right? There's already a Fetch... or two... here. So maybeeeee?"

The Beast glanced about, thinking, "Hey, if we are in the Hedge, what if we tried to--"

There was no time to finish her though, for that was when Rhodes got pulled away into the pantry. With trained reflexes, Sonnie leapt to try and grab the Flowering, but to no avail. The Autumn King was gone, the door shut tight, before her hand could close on him. Instead, her fingernails scraped the surface of the pantry door, and she growled. "Fuck!" Gripping the handle angrily, she tugged and yanked, also with no positive result. "Fuck, fuck, FUCKITY-FUCK!"

[Seraphina]

There was confusion on her face as she looked at her phone…what the hell? This wasn’t right.

But before she could answer Sonnie, she sees Rhodes open the door and get pulled inside!

“Rhodes!” phone completely forgotten as she runs to the door, hands trying without success to open it. Fists slam against the door, “No! Rhodes!” continuing to beat her fists against the door, the fear fully taking a hold of her. “Please,” she pleads, close to tears, “Rhodes!” feet beginning to kick against the door. If she could have broken into that door, she would have. Hearing Sonnie trying to get the door open, “What do we do Sonnie?!” panic creeping into her voice. She couldn’t leave, she had to keep banging on the door. But her attacks were getting weaker and she was out of breath.

Losing her cool wasn’t something she was known for. But her husband, her best friend, her whole world just got yanked into a fucking pantry and she couldn’t get the door open. Leaning her forehead against the door, she weakly slaps a hand against it.

Deep breath Sera…deep breath. The breath was shaky, but she took it, she had to regain control. Losing her shit was not going to get him back or get them out. She was a Queen damn it, and a Fairest to boot.

Still leaning against the door, “We need to get upstairs.” Her voice quiet as she tried to think of Sonnie as well, get her out.

Silence was now ringing out in the House, the echo of the shriek, the echo of Sonnie and Sera's desperation, the gaping emptiness where Rhodes should be.

They needed to get upstairs.

Again the words Rhodes had said, and what Sera had unknowingly echoed return to both of their minds. If going upstairs leads them down, then going downstairs should lead them up.

Whatever fleeting idea she had was forgotten. Seraphina's attempts to open the pantry, more desperate then her own, were no more effective.

Sonnie was angry.

Scared, of course, but now anger overrode any fear she felt, pushing it aside. It was a deep-seated feral anger, like an irritated gorilla pacing in a cage, ready to rip off the arm off anyone foolish enough to reach inside. The rage wasn't directed at the Fairest, of course, but at... well, everything else. This stupid house for trapping them, the stupid fetch for attacking them, stupid Rhodes for vanishing.

This was not a common state of emotion for Sonnie. She rarely felt anger, or if she did, she tended to bury it under distractions like a good Spring Courtier. She didn't like being mad. Rage tended to make her monkey brain go into overdrive. Words were short, thoughts simple, problems solved with smashing.

Upstairs.

Rhodes' plan, repeated by the Treasured. The civilized part of her mind piped up briefly to remind the Beast.

"We go up! Go down to go up!!" she snarled, grabbing for Sera's hand, intending to drag her along if necessary. Her staff was out again, held in her other hand, ready to club anything that annoyed her.

Part of her wanted to stay by the door, keep banging on it and trying the handle. Hoping it would open.

But the logical part knew they had to move, had to get upstairs. That, and Sonnies voice pulled her out of her own head.

Accepting the hand, but the Beast wouldn’t have to drag the Treasured, Sera was intent on finding a way up. Once they were upstairs, maybe they could figure this whole mess out and find Rhodes.

“Maybe the other door is supposed to lead to a basement, and will instead, lead us up?”

[Saber Sloth]

In a different hallway off the kitchen, opposite the way they've come they find another stairwell, a large oak monstrosity leading up and up and up - but the Lost aren't looking for the deceptive, no. Their eyes are drawn to the oak door, closed as of now, which all logic says would lead down, that they know, they hope will lead them from this floor.

When the door is open, Sonnie will scent blood-sweat-fear.

Do they proceed?
